the wildest from it's generation. the most hard to drive from all the B's. still, the most imposing one. i get chicken skin when i listen to that engine...impressive.and also, one of the best videos about the quattro s1.
The sound of the 5 turbo charged cilynders is amazing...still in the year 2008...I own a 370hp quattro and believe me it´s still a breakballs ferrari porches or m series cars...I can run in wet in tarmac in dry in snow...long life Quattro...take note that we all love the short version..but in fact they never win world champion..the car was so nervous..so radical..the best quattro ever built is the A2 the last evolution from the 10v engine
What can you say, other than stunning and exciting. :-) Not like the rally cars now a days, what with launch control and all the computers in the cabin, its like driving a windows PC !!
A new Monster was built to compete with the other Monsters Peugeot and Lancia , but unfortunately Group B was cancelled and the new Audi Quattro S1 didn't have the chance to kick ass , so the first public appearance was on the mountain of Pikes Peak , and if you want to know what i mean , check Walter Rohrl 1987 Pikes Peak with Audi S1 , even Walter Rohrl was amazed when he saw the vid taken from a helicopter , and was stunned by the power of this car .
No that is a short wheelbase 20v Sport Quattro! The A2 was the previous long wheelbase with a 10v head and it's not in this video at all. The S1 is the evolution of the Sport.
Outs12- the flash is unburnt fuel on the over run that's at extremely high temperature as it travels down the exhaust so when it reaches the oxygen in the air it combusts.
@wrcfaAAAAAAAAN the MAJOR drawbacks to the car and engine was that it handled terribly because audi puts the engine way out infront of the wheels making it understeer heavily, plus the 4 wheel drive was the basic 50/50 to all wheels with no diff to shuffle power around so basically it was beating other cars at first but once other manufacturers (peugeot) brought their version of AWD to the group b audi was done for because the peugeot was more nimble with the same amount of power
Great video, although the car seen are not all the S1 version of this car. I wish the never banned group B. More for political reason then security... In fact group B was getting more popular then F1 so they shut it with a good reason:security. In fact it was dangerous but they were other solution.
To see the new Monster of Audi , check Audi Quattro S1 vs. the Pikes Peak . Too bad this car didn't have the chance to demonstrate it's exploding power .
@wrcfaAAAAAAAAN in the yellow "first" version +/- 520 HP in the following "pikes peak" (black, gray and red) version +/- 620 HP bin in the amarican indy car races the pusht this 2.3 L 5 cyl 20V turbo engine up to 750 HP. and on the dyne test stand audi engineers made 1100 HP possible with this motor. (but it was just a test of max power, they coudent yous it on any race track because the engine would blow up after a viewe minutes) Sorry for my bad english! ;-) Greetz from Germany! :-)
yes but we all still believe in the old audi quattro system and think us audi lovers have the only quattro system BUT the truth is more and more cars have their own system so the quattro system is getting outdated.especially if you look at the Nissan GT-R which now to this day has the best 4 wheel drive system
Why is it that people line the sides of the track to watch the form of racing that probably has cars fly off the track most often? Can you imagine a bunch of people scattering off the track out of the way of an F1 car???? Ridiculous.
