Thanks for taking the time to respond, and educating me on loop groups - and for that matter, teaching across a lot of aspects of sound design! Loop groups definitely look pricey - but I may try some of the techniques in a budget-friendly approach. If I come up with something, I’ll let you know how it goes! 😀
Thank you for making this video, all useful information! My question, or maybe a suggestion for a separate video, is about free editing tools for beginners. I tried Audacity, one of the more popular ones, and was wondering if it's good enough to produce quality videos, how it compares to a more professional software or other free alternatives. An overview or, if possible, a tutorial with pro-tips would be great to see as well!
@@RyanGreen Generally, yes, the main goal is a video! So far, I'm trying out different options that are available for free, like Blender or apps on a smartphone. Haven't tried DaVinci yet, although I'm familiar with Adobe Premiere. It's just, ideally, I'd like to move towards the free software (that also works on Linux) where it's possible. As for audio, it's a completely new world to me, so your videos are really helpful, and it'd be great to hear your perspective on this!
@@saturnight.3026 yeah honestly the audio tools in Resolve are pretty good! If you’re still deciding on a video editor, I think it’s probably your best all in one option
Liking this type of vid! I was wondering if you could touch on the subject of using gate properly in DaVinci. I have audio I’m working on where the noise outside the building comes through horrifically and it’s the only audio I can use. Cutting in between dialog and using room tone is too drastic. Any advice would mean the world to me! Thanks mate!
Hey keen to help! Is there anywhere I can hear what you’re talking about? I’m guessing it’s unreleased so probably not? A gate is probably not going to be the best tool unfortunately. It’s going to sound quite obvious that the audio is coming in and out. The room tone you’re trying to cut back and forth with, is that room tone recorded the same time as the dialogue?
@@RyanGreen not released yet won’t be until July. The biggest issue is the road noise outside. While speaking you can hear large trucks with trailers I think bouncing over railroad tracks. And yes roomtone has the same type noise in the background too. Didn’t notice at time of recording. Am thinking may have to scrap the audio and get clever with some voice overs.
