Pot is destructive if the inner intention in smoking it is to escape aspects of your life. If you use coming from a concsious positive intention and feel guided to do it, it can be elevating and healing. Any activity is destructive if the core intention is escape and self-negation. peace.
John Frusciante is impossible to describe. He's even said he makes music to express indescribable emotions, which evoked emotions in me that I couldn't describe. He's one of the most important inspirations in my music. I get your point though, Jon is god ;P.
i think of john as as different people through out his life from the young funky john to the chilled by the way john and this john the philosopher of music and i love all of them!
All of his albums are just absolutely AMAZING. They are all on a level of their own. The Empyrean is so unique and amazing in every way. John's music is the most creative music out there. Every album he moves to a completely different level and it amazes me every time.
gosh this album it´s so fcking beautiful. Search on youtube "one more of me enough of me" those two songs played at the same time, one in each earpod, are pure magic. I´d bet all i have that John did the songs to be played at the same time

John is such an inspiring and enlightening person. He is so wise, I wouldn't be exaggerating if I called him a "Musical Genius" or even "Genius" in General!
omfg after living off the empyrean, listening to this connects the dots, i always noticed how every song would start slow or simple and build up to an unbelievable high :D i love john
the thing that i can say about john, aside of that i consider him the best guitar player ever, and that he is my favourite artist and guitar player, is that i relate to him and in a way, he relates to me. john makes those deep feelings and thoughts come out, and express them i his songs. his songs are mind blowing, are like a drug, that makes you delireous, and you feel hypnitized... About what he is sayng here, i totally agree with, but he also brings new stuff to you to learn..
fuck john is so amazing. i think if more musicians were influenced not necessarily by his music but his mindset, people would be making much better music.
@DoubleIvan Shadows Collide with People is majestic...but his first solo record, Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T Shirt blew me away when I was a kid, and of his most recent ones, the Will to Death and Inside of Emptiness really struck a chord with me...
man, everything he is saying about recording and mixing your own songs yourself, I have to agree 100%. I make my own music, and I understand everything he is saying spot on.
im sure not all songs will be to your liking ie song to the siren - that one to me is different. but one more of me is absolutely amazing, so is unreachable..that guitar is just magic!
yea, first time i listened to it i didn't really know what to think... but now, i think it prolly is one of the greatest album i have heard. so give it another chance like you said.. =)
I agree with simplonnn. The first time I listened to the Empyrean I wasn't quite sure if I liked it. It was such a change from Curtains, which was almost all acoustic. This time around there's no acoustic as far as I've been able to tell. But anyway, give this another shot if you thought it was a little iffy the first time around. I think this is his best solo album to date.

@DoubleIvan if you like the more electronic- sounding stuff that he does, I'd recommend To Record Only Water For 10 Days or A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence. But after coming off of the Empyrean id say Shadows Collide With People is a good next step. But youll end up getting em all anyway:)
@ZKEEKZ My wild guess was based on a few things i've learnt about him: 1. He believes in a creator god. 2. He was (possibly still is) driven by voices, interacted with spirits through heroin, meditation etc.. 3. He takes on the character of god seen in his lyrics and posed as jesus in photoshoots, the idea of trying to reach a perfect state of mind to the level of god (empyrean) is often portrayed. 4. It goes against his belief system to talk of his spiritual beliefs. wild guess, love his music
I think his song writing is so underestimated. I personally beileve he actually has lyrics I can listen to and feel. I mean others lyrics are feel generic and it doesn't feel like it's going anywhere even if its technically "well written". So much of the praise goes torward political lyrics and subjects which affect society when I think it's really a very shallow thing to have in you. His are so uniuqe and the metaphors are pure which is rare.
@ZKEEKZ the music industry nowadays is directed towards selling sex and fun to preteens, teens, and twenty-thirty-something-year-olds. this is because the industry can make a lot of money off of selling fun and sex to the world. we need to learn to sell positivity to the world. sell our love and our appreciation for each other as human beings. learn to love your fellow man and woman like they were your brother or sister. No, I agree with you, I don't think he would at all. I guess people are just highlighting how they would treat others and think other people are the same..
