I have one connected to my roksan kandy k2 power amp and the difference especially with classical music is very evident clarity is improved and instruments are much more defined.....i cant speak for every system and set up.....but it certainly works with mine!

Just bought the new one that has 6 socket feeds (£350). Yet to see any reviews online .. most dealers only just got in first stock, I think. Reviews for the singles have been good pretty much across the board. For my experience (in the 10 days or so I've had it) .. this one does seem to help .. and most of all seems to have (for this relatively short period, at least) banished the 'bad mains' days - when everything sounds dreadful. The quality of mains .. and it's up & down nature, seems to have always been my main problems. Some days my hifi can sound wonderful .. and I'm pretty sure it's because I'm just getting relatively clean mains supply that day (or particular part of the day). Certainly strikes me as pretty good value for money .. as with most Audiolab stuff. PS. Do those things behind the speakers help much ? Have considered such things myself .. but would need informed advice as to what n where to buy and how to best employ/implement.

They are bass traps tuned to 50-60hz. Do they help? Well yes but not fully. I dont have any on the rear walls so i still have nulls just not as severe as without anything.

I"ve been looking at the DC Dlock 6 myself and would be interested in reading your comments. I have the original DC Block in my system and it solved problems I had of blowing tubes in my "vintage" Heatkit AA-30 EL 84 stereo amp. It also changed the sound to be a little less tube like but not so much that prevented me from keeping it in place. My conclusion on the original DC Block is positive and the DC Block 6 would solve a host of power connection problems I also have.

I use them as well as a PSM 156. For some components I also use an ifi one. So that is PSM 156 then Audiolab dc blocker then ifi dc blocker. Seems to help. Might be overkill lol

How much of a difference do Audiolab dc blockers make in sound quality in your system & how many are you using. Thanks great sound.

Thanks! I’m using one, I have an all in one streaming amplifier. It makes a difference that’s hard to explain, it’s like your system never has a bad day, it always sounds at its best. It just feels like it’s got a better grip of the music allowing more clarity, dynamics, bass textures. It’s probably 10-15% improvement in sound. Tbh in this game for what it costs it’s a no brainier. I found it to take a couple of days playing familiar music to appreciate what it’s doing.

I've been trying up sampling using HQ player and Roon, sometimes I hear an improvement, and then I don't. After doing a blind test with a friend's help, the outcome was I could not hear a difference. Try this with the DC blocker, you may get the same outcome.

Yeah sometimes things are that way, I tried power cables and heard nothing, the difference between a bog standard optical cable and a van den hul the first digital cable was nothing, even a denefrips dac and the internal dac in the arcam was no different. However with the dc blocker I can even hear an improvement when I film it and watch it back.
@russellparker4568
@russellparker4568 Год назад
The arcam has a streaming module, dac, pre amp and power amp so having it stood before all the chain must make a small improvement to it all.

Arcam integrated, presumably (looks like) .. what are the speakers ?
@russellparker4568

Yes it is arcam. The speakers are heavily modded chario hipers. They are actually for sale atm.

Nice video. Just a question, did you have any hum from the amp before using the dc blocker? I ask because i cant hear a hum in my system but if the dc blocker still gives sonic improvements without a audible hum, ill try one. Thanks
@russellparker4568
@russellparker4568 Год назад
Thanks! Yes a very small amount of hum but barely noticeable, its gone now too. I didnt buy it for that reason though, just with the aim to improve the sound, which it did.

Don’t listen to @r423sdex, he is like a virus that plagues all hifi comment sections, he appears in all sorts of video’s disagreeing with everyone, he has no idea what he’s talking about and has most likely never used any of the equipment being discussed, terrible negative attitude about everything. Anyway…… If you think you have dirty mains power from other buildings nearby or other electronics running in your household that seem to effect the sound at particular times of day, that can even make your transformers hum in your hifi gear at particular times of day, then buy a dc blocker and try it because theres a good chance it will fix the issue. I have dc mains power pollution at particular times of day and it’s been measured to prove this, it without a doubt affects the sound in my system not to mention make my pre amp, power amp and dac’s transformers audibly hum. It’s probably all the washers, ovens, tv’s etc running like clappers on an evening on my street.
@r423sdex
@r423sdex Год назад
Do you have a problem with DC on your mains ? Does your amplifier transformer hum ?
@russellparker4568
@russellparker4568 Год назад
I wouldnt say I had a problem but using the dc block did make it clear there was something going on as the sound just became much clearer and more natural, its hard to explain but everything improves by 10-15%. The amp had a very slight hum which went away with using the dc block. I didnt buy it for that reason though. For £100 its an absolute no brainer.

@@russellparker4568 that should have no problems with DC on the mains. Arcam is very good at designing amplifiers. You should get someone to help you do a blind test with the DC blocker.

I always blind test anything like this. You appear to be unconvinced that it makes an improvement 😄 I can reassure you in my system I hear a difference 👍🏻
