This is definitely appreciated. I think the Nighthawk and Nightowl can be awesome headphones. I think you have it right in pointing out that - at least with the Nightowls, system matching is paramount. At least, that is what I thought you were saying, and that is my experience with both headphones- particularly with Audioquest headphones.
Today I got Nightowls and I am blown away. Very smooth but fun sounding headphones. Running them from Arcam rHead with Modi Multibit. Thank you for recommendation!
Okay David, this review is about two years old, but I watched it because I'm thinking about the purchase of a Nightowl headphone. But the reason I'm giving a reply: Want to tell you that your tone of voice ( not technically this time 😑) for me is perfect. I like your way of speaking and reviewing very much. No testosteron blahh blah. I never before encountered a reviewer who has this pleasant mix of authority and knowledge and yet at the same time leaves plenty of space for the visitors own interpretations and feelings. Respect for that, and please continue. 👍👍👍 Frank (from Holland)
I would take the Argon mk3. But the NightOwl Carbon is a good alternative. To me the Argon mk3 is the more refined of the two. But you need a competent amp to drive the Argon mk3, the NightOwl Carbon is a lot easier to drive.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thanks! The nightowls probably have better isolation too right? This is really important for me. Also, being in EU I can get them locally, sending them from the US with the current situation seems risky not to mention it would take a while for them to get to me.
@@Pirxel I can't remember much difference between them in isolation, I think they both were similar which was decent. I totally understand about the shipping concerns and also the Argon take about 4-6 weeks to modify from time of order.
Hello David do you know which jack adapter will work with stock nightowl cable. Adapter from audioquest is not fitting my Burson and I tried plenty of different adapters and none of them works with stock cable ☹️
Sorry that the adapter isn't working well. I just fumbled around with my collection of adapters until I found one that works. Sorry. Sadly AQ built a beautiful adapter but it just doesn't work. I used an alternate cable and the issue was resolved. This is the cable I recommend, please ask for 2.5mm connectors if you order from them. store.hifiman.com/index.php/hybrid-ofc-cable.html
Hi,I have this headphones buy I am looking for something brigther. I like very much sound from my old sennheiser hd 540. Looking for close back headphones i am thinging about Meze Liric. Is it good direction?
Links have been updated. Dirac is a room correction and sound optimization program. Here are links to the THX AAA 788 amp and the Dirac website, both explain better then I ever can. www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24459 www.dirac.com
I havent heard the original Aeon Closed but here is a link to my Aeon 2 Closed review. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WLcGZHdg7Wk.html Both are excellent choices, the Nightowl is more fun but not as technical.
Hi friend I tried these headphones today compared to the 660s and I liked them more. I loved them right away. I also tried the Ollo but I found them nothing special for me. Do you know the Austrian audio x55? People say they have incredible details out there for the price. How do you find the details of this headphones? I have to try it with my mixes ! I liked it a lot and if you give me the right details about my mixes, I'll take it! So nice headphones. Obviously, I still have some doubts for the austrian audio :(
@@TheHonestAudiophile Excuse me you, maybe I had already asked you. In any case, do you think the nightowl have a good details? Because I liked them so much! I have only a little doubt about how they can be analytical headphones for mixes. Anyway on Thursday I can find out by trying them with one of my songs :))
Hi Manuel. I own a pair of the Austrian Audio X65 and I can say for detail they are superb. I’m not sure how much difference the x55 are but I can recommend the x65 for sure.
