Many thanks for posting. Just got my unit and this really helped getting started. Would you want to post the creation of a patch, like how you’d start with a preset and change it, explaining how you’d want to change the sound and then explain how the synth can be set up? I am new to synths, only worked with stage pianos so far. Still I am sensing that the use of a LFO that runs freely is what I am hearing every now and then, like a slowly turning Leslie speaker on an organ is not related to the keys pressed.
overall, compared to micromonsta 1 [if youve tried it] how did the programming feel? easy to get to controls, not easy? Granted it has more features like combi mode, more voices, more envelope and mod matrix slots, so thats understandable. I'm leaning towards getting one. I have the first one, and love it. I have had my MM1 for about a year and have programmed a heck of a lot on it.
Hi, Thanks for watching the video. I'm sorry but I've not tried the MM1. I can't make comparisons. The MM2 is very easy to program. It's well laid out in terms of user interface.
Hi, great and clear video. Thanks for that. However 2 questions. I own it for 1 day now but how do I get back to a sort of preset mode? And I can't find the answer on where I can find the current FW version. Am I missing something in the manual or is it my lag of internal mem in my brain?
Hi, Firmware is here; www.audiothingies.com/dl/?dir=micromonsta_2 I don't own this synth anymore. From reading the manual, presets or combi are retrieved by loading them in per page 10. Thanks for watching, TJ
Thanks for watching the video. IIRC (I've not had the MMII for sometime since making this video), there wasn't an init clearing function. You just start with an unused patch. You can delete a patch and it'll become an init patch at that location. Hope that helps. Cheers, TJ
I would like to know how to upload presets into the unit via Mac. The manual is zilch help and would appreciate your time if you could do a rundown description of the steps please.
Hi, Thanks for watching the video. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question. I sold the synth soon after making the video. I suspect there is a data dump functionality for sysex messages. Perhaps you can reach out to Audiothingies and they'll have a better answer. Or, there's a thread about the MicroMonsta 2 on the Gearspace.com forum. Good luck, TJ
IIRC (I don't have it anymore), it has 128 presets. It certainly has the capability for good bass sounds. Just note it is digital synth and sounds like it. Thanks for watching. Please share and subscribe. TJ
@@scottfauber I sold it because I have too much gear already and don't really need it lol. I just wanted to check it out and demo it on my channel. I can't keep them all. Cheers, TJ
Ive never played any kind of synth, sound module, or keyboard. I have about everything else from the guitar world including stereo FRFRs. I was thinking about ordering some stuff to have fun, inspire creativity, and such. Could you make any recommendations? Im always curious if a two octave keyboard (what is it 61 keys?) and a program like UVI falcon would be what im looking for? A lot of what youre doing here is great and looks fun. Id like to get into some of this stuff but am not sure how to go about it. Thanks, Appreciated the vid with a thumbs up
@@tjontheroad great questions... i should have already included. I dont have too much of a budget but im always looking at the cheapest stuff/best bargains - i guess probably because im afraid it wont get much use due to real life. Im guessing mostly studio use. Style would be rock/metal. Thanks for your response. Your time is kindly appreciated.
For hardware, a workstation type synth is a good place to start (Korg, Roland, Yamaha). lots of sounds with a good keyboard. All the mid-priced ones are good. For plugins, either Arturia V Collection or Spectronics Omnisphere. Both have tons of presets to get you going. Buy the best controller you can afford. Arturia KeyLab series is a good choice.
Nice review, nice, potent synth!! Do these Carambar have jokes printed on the inside of the paper wrap? Here in France they look the same and got very stupid customer submitted jokes 😝
While I'm sure there are some good iOS synths, I can't say I'm an expert. I've always found iPad music apps clumsy to use. Thanks for watching Cheers, TJ
