Wille seeks consensus and similarities in conversations about different perspectives, Simon seeks injustice in differences. Nothing is right or wrong, just different perspectives on the same thing. It is also based on the fact that they have different personalities. Simon is fearless and likes to take a conflict into conversation, Wille does not like conflicts and tries to avoid them.

Both Felice and Simon are having conversations about privilege in this episode and in both cases, the privileged person/people don't understand their point of view. Both Felice and Simon are trying to explain, but these white elite kids don't understand. What both of them actually need, is they need them to listen and if they don't understand to say so and try to learn. If you're privileged in a conversation you're not always going to lose. All you need to do is to hold space and listen to the other person's perspective. Think of these conversations as if you are speaking as women to men about your experience and they don't get it, or argue back at you about your experience. They can't stop being men or walk in your shoes, but they can hold space for you to express your frustration.

I 110% agree. Thank you so much for your comment. I loved how the show started shining a light on Simon's and Felice's experiences at the school.

@ThatsMyUsborneBook To be privileged. What do you mean by that? Rich? prince? loved by loved ones? supported to always be able to speak your mind? What one person considers privileged, another may not see as privileged at all. It is a feeling and an attitude, not facts. And must be seen in the individual's own context. I think both had difficulty understanding the other. Because of lack of experience. Both have the right to see value in the "job" they do. Nothing is more or less valuable. And remember Willes family is not as rich as the other kids in school. You cannot compare his situation with the others. The royal family lives on grants and they have to pay with their entire waking existence and life which is messed up from start to finish. No degrees of freedom. Wille does not experience it as privileged, I can guarantee that.

@@birgittae9046it's about social privilege and class. wille and the others all have personal problems obviously but class, money and race is always going to give some advantages over others in life. felice gets scolded by teachers for things her non-black friends do everyday with no repercussions. simon was the only one in his class failing tests because others paid teachers for private tutoring (and then he got in trouble trying to pay for it so he could keep up.) August committed a serious crime but got away with it thanks to his connections and money, while Simon barely managed to avoid punishment because he had something on August. if Simon had been caught for selling drugs in the first season he would have been expelled forever, but when alexander was framed for it he just went away to some other rich people school for 2 months and then came right back to hillerska, probably because his parents paid the school. wille might not be as rich as some of his classmates, but he's still much richer than the average person. he's lived in a palace his whole life, he's always had the best education, and he probably could kill someone and get away with it. even after he came out, the brunt of the public's homophobia has been directed at Simon (along with racism and classism,) because wille is the prince and so Simon HAS to be the one that manipulated him into being gay in their mind.

@@deureop Hi, I don't know where you live in the world. But I want to tell you that the Swedish politics, laws in recent 80 years and the welfare system has contributed to the majority of children growing up without worrying about money. Class and social privilege are concepts that the Swedish model has actively worked away during the last 80 years. All children and young people must be given the same opportunities in studies and development regardless of home circumstances. And everyone has the right to study free of charge and receive a cooked meal every school day. And it is forbidden to charge for extra lessons. So those class differences due to money and social status are not that visible in real life as it is in this series. The concept of class and privilege is not something most of people think about nowadays. So that Wille's accounts of what his existence consists of, when he personally does not judge others based on "class" or assumed ”financial status", should be judged as "wrong", is downright rude. -Nothing is wrong, everyone's contribution is equally valuable. Regarding ethnicity, it is forbidden to register it by authorities as well as in other registers. But I agree that there are still problems in society with several peoples attitudes towards people who do not visibly belong to the majority. So yes Felices problem is for real. 💜 I did not objected by that in my comment. But your other examples from the series is not relevant in the real society in Sweden. You cannot buy protection from prohibited behavour. And you will be treated equal by regulations and law. The problem with negative attitudes among several ignorant people unfortunately also applies to the really weak, i.e. sick, disabled and unable to work. Although society tries to be there for them, they of course do not have the same freedom to shape their lives as they are dependent on the state for their livelihood. We also have a Discrimination Act. The purpose of the Discrimination Act is to counter discrimination and promote equal rights and opportunities regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, ethnic affiliation, religion or other belief, disability, sexual orientation or age. But the largest group in the Swedish society who are able to work or get financial help from the state do not suffer from anything important in life including ordinary people like, Simon's family.

@@birgittae9046 i mean that's cool and interesting but I'm not talking about real life sweden here, I'm talking about this fictionalized version of Sweden that the show depicts where all those things that i mentioned very much did happen. the class and wealth divide is a central part of the show, it's like the main source of narrative conflict. you can't say that the characters' issues are unjustified because they wouldn't exist in the real world, the characters live in THAT world and these issues are real to them.

Hi ladies! In my opinion, the conversation around the campfire and tent shows the difference between Simon and Wille when it comes to class. I do think that Wille was trying to ease the tension by trying to relate to Simon's friend. Unfortunately (as Jade has already pointed out) his words came across as condescending. Because, sometimes, one experience can't be compared to another. And this is why Simon got upset. In his eyes, Wille was no different than the classmate who was making them feel inferior. I also want to encourage you ladies to show more understanding and grace towards Simon. I've seen so many reactors longing to soothe Wille whenever he makes a mistake when it comes to his privileged. But the same grace isn't extended to Simon. Like Wille, this is his first time having a relationship with someone of a different class. As much as we like to say otherwise, THIS DISTINCTION DOES MATTER. Simon is learning more about Wille world on a more personal level. Hunter, you point out that if Simon and Wille were to get married, Simon would become wealthy too. While this might be true, I don't think Simon's perspective on wealth and status would completely change to match his classmates' or even Wille's. As he mentioned, he started working since he was fourteen. So he would probably use his new found status and wealth to initiate a positive social change within the lower class. His peers would never do this. What I'm trying to say is that everyone's perspective is unique and it can't be compared all the time.

Always choosing to see Wille as "privileged" is a narrow minded attitude that seeks conflict rather than consensus. Why not see the person Wille and ignore his position. Just as one disregards all other people's good or less good external conditions. Remove preconceived notions and try to listen to what the person is saying and the spirit of it. With an open mind, there will be a friendlier conversation climate and greater understanding of other people's situation and perspective. Simon is good in standing on the barricades and are not afraid taking a conflict. He has a strong sense of self and is brave. Wille is just the opposite and his self-esteem is weakened when he is judged for who he IS that he can't do anything about. It is not nice to sit in judgment over neither the poor nor the rich.

@@birgittae9046 Hi! Thanks for your comment. I would argue that one should extend understand and acceptance towards another's external conditions rather than ignoring them. After all, outside influences can shape who we are and how we form our opinions. Simon loves Wille as a person and vice versa. But Wille is a prince and Simon is from the lower class. This is apart of their identity and both are experiencing life differently than the other. For example, Wille doesn't have to worry about daily necessities, like food and housing. Simon does. For him, working means earning money to live. However, learning diplomacy, politics, and learning how to run a country is a job as well. It's just different. If Wille doesn't know these things, the country could collapse. The two just need to acknowledge the other's circumstances because neither of their experiences are wrong or "less than."

@@rayrayl.4087 The thing is, Simon does not have to worry about food and other living costs. He has a mother who provides him with that, a father who is legally obliged to do so as well (might be difficult as he can't probably work full-time due to his health and diagnosis) and a very generous Swedish social system to help if needed. He works to be able to afford some extra things, like a new Playstation or trendy sneakers or a trip somewhere. And that is the difference between him and the rest of the kids for sure, but neither he or Rosh or Ayub will starve if they don't have a summer job.

What I always thought was interesting was Simon pointing out Wille's privilege but not seeing his own. Compared to the kids in his school yeah he's not privileged. But he talks about working every summer looking at his room it's for things he wants not needs. He doesn't run the risk of going hungry or not having close or lights. Linda seems to be a good provider there. It is all about perspective.

Driving a stick is still standard in Sweden, it's quite uncommon for people to get a licence only for automatic cars, even though I think it increases every year. (Don't have a licence myself, but remeber the idiotic reactions some people would have when my mom - 55 f*ing yrs - finally got her licence and opted for the automatic.) It seems to be a weird traditionalist/male thing, hope it keeps changing because who needs the hassle? Also, I think it's the School Inspectorare who chose Felice, not the school. It could be that they've been accused of discrimination and that's why they chose her; but in any case, the principal's reaction is insane and terrible and I love how they just cut to Felice boxing her frustration in gym class haha. Love your reactions!!!

Hi, just wanted to let you know that we never find out the identity of who put out the allegations against the school. All we know is that a former student was inspired by Wilhelm's speech from last season to come forward and speak about what they went through. We don't know how long the specific hazing that involved gay porn could have go on. It could have just been during Erik's time or long before that.
