Hey team, just commenting to address something that a few people have mentioned 💜 my lack of mention regarding JK Rowling and her hurtful/harmful comments regarding the trans community wasn’t intentional, and I’m sorry for anyone who was hurt by me not mentioning it. I know that I’m disappointed in JK’s comments and can only imagine how any of our trans community members must feel 💜 Kia kaha and my apologies for not doing my part as an ally better.
I am not trans but I'm very disappointed in JK's attitude. It is ignorant and it doesn't suit her. Still, I love Harry Potter and that will remain the best she ever wrote in my opinion. It is equally harmful to be hateful about a book and not distinguish it from the person who wrote it. Especially after JK betrayed the main message in it. “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” And I would add - It is our attitude towards other people than our gender identity and sexual orientation that show sho we really are.
Also.. I’ve been sorted Gryffindor multiple times. With Ravenclaw a close second.. then hufflepuff. Although, I don’t consider myself especially brave (I wanted RC.. book nerd here lol), I’ve come to accept my fate. 🤣
So excited for this Harry Potter theme as I am planing on doing one for September. I feel like I've hit the BuJo slump or creative slump this past month but this bringing me a lot of joy and getting me excited to get back into my journal. Also your tip with stenciling/ tracing is genius! I will definitely be giving that a try, so thank you. Also I only discovered your channel recently and have been loving watching older videos of past themes, you are so talented and creative!
my entire Bujo for 2020 is Harry Potter. each month with a different theme. August (my birth month) is Harry Potter sweets so I'm using doodles of Bertie boots every flavor beans, Lollies, and spun sugar quills. I'm also Ravenclaw, and I used the 4 houses for February since it was so satisfying to have exactly 4 weeks, one week for each house. I did house points for a tracker that month!
I wasn't a big fan. But I remember my dad once surprised me by waiting in line for the last two books for me. The fact he did it for me was special. He even wrote a special note for me, in the cover. The story was meh for me, but the memory I had with my friends and family will always be special.
Wow, I love that tracing trick! I’m usually hesitant to do anything other than super basic doodles in my bujo because I’m not very artsy, but now I think I might give tracing a try.
Whoa that tracing trick blew my mind, since my journal is also 160gsm I hadnt thought I could 'trace' things. Can't wait to try that. Thanks I personally never got into Potter so not really my cup of tea however Your theme turned out very nice especially with the black background.
Wow this is really good 👏 I did a Harry Potter theme for august and I dedicated each spread to a different character so that I could use my favourite quotes.
I'm not a big fan of Harry Potter, however I did read the Sorcerer's Stone! I prefer the movies because it was hard for me to paint a picture in my head as I read along. I remember the impact HP had when it first came out and the momentum is still kicking! I like this spread💕. My August theme is all about the zodiac sign ♌ (me) since it's my birthday month😃
Lovely designs - your simple Harry Potter designs on black are lovely! My Harry Potter house is Slytherin. I'm not a big Harry Potter fan, but I have read all the books and seen all the movies. It certainly does offer good visual imagery.
Adore your HP theme. I’m mainly a hufflepuff with a side of ravenclaw. I’m doing a Doctor Who theme for August. Also doing simple outline doodles of iconic whovian images and shapes. I wanted to add some circular gallifreyan (the Time Lord language) for some headers so I will certainly be printing them out. There’s a couple of good resources I found to help me. Not confident of my ability to hand draw a perfect circle and make the tiny inner circles and dots.
I love this. I am a big HP fan. I am a proud Huffelpuff. I may need to try this theme in my journal. And thank you for the tracing tutorial. I suck at drawing!!
I love this and I'm so glad you showed that you printed the font instead of trying to draw it. I'm super new to bujo and was thinking I should try printing some things instead of trying to use my brush pens. Also, I'm a Ravenclaw too! Took the test twice and was a Ravenclaw both times.
Love this. Not a fan of Harry Potter but very cool, especially the owls and mood tracker. I took a break from bullet journaling. You have totally motivated me to start up again. Thanks! Remembered why I liked it...it was fun.❤
That tracing trick is brilliant! Thanks. I loved Harry Potter in the '90s but then kind of disliked the hype so didn't like it as much. I liked it more when it was just about me and an interesting book lol. I have still read them all and seen the films but I am definitely not a Potternerd.
I'll be sure to not miss this one cause the theme is 💜💜 going with watermelon this month, but will be using HP next month for sure after seeing this! You make my dreams seem achievable 😍
I'm not a HP fan (it doesn't vibe with my tastes or aesthetics ... Dobby gives me the creeps!), but I like seeing how creative fans are. The fandom has created a lot of cool things, from crafts and bullet journals to baked items and clothing. Lovely spread. Thanks for sharing!
How cool! Me and my boyfriend have been re-reading the whole harry potter series, I've been meaning to get around to a HP theme too, yours turned out so lovely!
My august theme is "moon, stars and night" which has a similar color scheme with yours, I use black to represent night, yellow to represent moon and white is my pen color to represent stars.
As a fellow potterhead and ravenclaw this monthly theme is astonishing, so simple yet so beautiful and with very helpful tips. 😊😊 But when I heard that you haven't read 3 of the books a little part of Rowena died in me, sorry 😅 I'm gonna read them instead of you for a millionth time but highly recommend to read them, so many things becomes clear.
This is such a beautiful setup and very classical HP without being too much. I am a Slytherin🐍! I love all the themes, but I get bored very quickly of the same look in my journal and I mostly put down whatever I am feeling that week. I have tried doing the same theme for a month, but I feel stifled after the first week! Lol nevertheless I love watching others create such beautiful work and being able to keep the same theme for a month. 💚 your work!
Thanks! Totally understand the feeling you’re talking about 😅 that’s one of the main reasons that when I started with themes, I was only using a colour or colour palette rather that full-blown themes... if that makes sense! 💜
i'm a hufflepuff/ravenclaw. my theme this month is inspired by Taylor swift's new album folklore. i was already doing black white and grey, but i didn't know what style to do the trackers. then folklore came out and i was like woah! this is it!
I’m currently using the A&O blackout book and have been wondering how to incorporate my HP theme. I always do a Harry Potter theme in September, but I’ve been nervous that it wouldn’t look as good on black paper as it does in the white notebooks. Thanks for the inspiration! I will definitely be using this! I’m a Hufflepuff 💛🖤
WOW! That looks AMAZING! Love it! I don't really have themes lately, kinda fallen of that wagon a bit. My journal has been quite simple for a while now, but i love using kraft paper and mint/aqua/turquoise coloured pens :)
I love how you hacked your way into printing on a paper bag. I save everything from packages that come to me, and have so much packing paper (not sure what it’s called?). I like to use it as wrapping paper, but I also love the idea of taping it to a piece of printer paper so that I can print directly on it. Genius! :)
I’ve never read or seen any Harry Potter books/movies. But I watched this entire video start to finish. You’re month came out very cute! Even if I don’t understand the references! 😂
Harry Potter was one of the first "big kid" series I read all by myself, in 3rd grade! I align best with Hufflepuff, but when I've taken the Pottermore test it was Gryffindor. I really align the most with the Ilvermorny house of Pukwudgie though, which is appropriate as I live in the USA anyway!
Love seeing the simpler Harry Potter set-up as I agree that the complexity of other ones I've seen has put me off trying it myself. I'm going for a forest theme inspired by Taylor Swift's new album folklore for August
I've been wanting to do a Potter theme for so long! When I first took the Pottermore quiz I was put in Slytherin, and although I think I still have some qualities, as I grew up, I felt more like a Ravenclaw, so I took the quiz again and it told me I'm now a Ravenclaw! I would definitely say I'm somewhere between a Ravenclaw/Slytherin! (And I also haven't read the 6th book either but simply because it took me SO long to read the 5th one, and I just couldn't be bothered!)
I’ve been wanting to do a Harry Potter spread as well! I’ve also wanted to do a memory page in that spread, but i wanted to make it as a Daily Prophet🙈 so the memories will be the «news»
Ravenclaw here!! Slytherin was a close second for me though. Absolutely love your style, I just started bujo a couple weeks ago and it’s amazing what all people can come up with for it
I love this set up. I can't wait to see what it will give once filled up especially the mood tracker. I'm a hufflepuff and a Potter head. But I'm also a Disney fan and my August theme is Kuzco.
This is gorgeousness!! Very clever, which I'm pretty sure means more coming from a fellow Ravenclaw. 😂 I did Fireflies as my theme for August which would have been gorgeous on black paper.
I’m working on an under the sea theme for august, I got my first little set of tombow markers and so I’m going all out for this spread! I’m getting so much inspiration from your spreads!
This looks really good on the black pages. I can't wait to see how the mood tracker turns out! I think it's going to be very neat! I'm a Hufflepuff 💛🖤 I haven't decided yet on my August theme. 🙃 I'm trying to think of maybe something green. I haven't done a green theme yet.
Hi Jashii, what a great theme! I'm a big Harry Potter fan! I've read and seen the books and films several times and can continue to enjoy them! I'm going to write down your idea and it will probably be my September theme. Thanks for the tip of the sketching. Wax crayon may also help in this case.
I've never really been a Harry Potter fan and don't really get the hype. I do love your different ideas that could work with any type of theme. I did a lighthouse theme from Erin Floto's stickers.
Pottermore says I’m a Ravenclaw but I think I’m a Slytherin. I’ve never read farther than the 5th book, but fanfiction has just about filled in my gaps
This is such a fun theme that I’m doing in a few months! I loved you simple yet still fun approach and the trick with the tracing was brilliant. I’m for sure going to try that for times I’m wanting decoration but it’s out of my skill level 🙏🏽❤️ thanks
Hi, new person and subscriber here-just found you yesterday. Love the paper bag trick! And the theme too. How do you come up with what you add for your themes? Like here, is it your favorite bits from scenes in the movies that make up the images you use? I was surprised to find that I totally love Harry Potter. I was dating someone with a son who loved it, and as we read the books and watched the movies together, I found myself being swept up in the whole thing. I preordered the sixth and seventh books- when I got them, I hid myself away with a do not disturb message for everyone unless emergency requires so I could read undisturbed. Lol sometimes I still do that with long-awaited new releases. I don't do strict bullet journaling like you do...but a form of it that has helped me keep track of what I need to. That's a lot less since the pandemic began of course, as I work from home now and don't go out except for groceries. But I do have some things I need to mind and do, and I need a simpler system because if it's too complicated or too info much to enter every day, I won't stick with it. So I've really simplified it, and I found that I keep up to date with it and am much happier to do so-it's not really a chore anymore. I've always wanted to make it more artistic and fun to look at and work in, but didn't really know how to do that. Your videos are quite inspiring for that, and I appreciate you sharing them. My opinion, you do not have to apologize for liking a creation because of an author's statements- you've done nothing wrong by liking Harry Potter.
I have never read or seen the movies! When I was little I saw the goblet of fire w my family but I dont think that counts because it started in the middle and I dont remember it at all haha
I love the Harry Potter books. They mean a great deal to me and are linked to a lot of wonderful memories, but I’ll admit, for me they’ve been tarnished by Rowling’s recent comments. Until now, I’ve really admired her for her progressive views and her massive charitable contributions, and it’s really hard to reconcile that person with the hurtful, harmful comments on trans rights. I’ve found myself generally staying away from HP things lately until I can reconcile how I feel about it all and figure out how to move forward. That being said, I was excited to see this setup, I do really like it, and I’m hoping to be able to use it for inspiration sometime in the future when I’m able to settle this debate with myself.
How amazing is your Harry Potter spread! That's for the sharing your bulletin set up on RU-vid. The last time Harry Potter was between 2002 & 2003. Our goal for August 2020 was to the read all the Harry Potter books. I then, like taking a tour around Balboa island to the seals and I enjoy hearing the tour around Balboa Newport Beach celebrity residents. In where J.K Rowling's has her property. Have a great evening. Best.... Unknown Saint.
So excited that you're doing a Harry Potter theme! I'm continuing Wonder Woman theme for Aug (just not feeling 'done' with it yet) Planning Harry Potter theme in Sept. Fellow Ravenclaw!
Love your theme ... Even though I'm one of those unicorns who is not a Harry Potter fan - started the first book, put it down, and never picked it up again. I've only watched the movies out of peer pressure 😔
Absolutely love your HP theme, I am a big HP fan, read all books and have all movies on DVD, lol, but didn't know there was somewhere to work out what house I would be, so I am off to find that out. 💕
I follow you on instagram and your channel has just come up in my recommended. I loved your July set up so I stuck around. I love your page on instagram xxx
Hi! Awesome theme! It was mine for July cause Harry is born on 31st after all. Ravenclaw right away. You really should read the last two books. Now it's like you had baked a cake and made the icing but refusing to put it together. Hahahaha
I love Harry Potter. I’m the same as you I’ve only read the first 5 books. I did HP theme for July. His birthday month. Oh and I am a Hufflepuff. My theme for august is shells.
I love your Harry Potter-themed spreads! Also a fan ... who didn't read vol. 7 for aaages (but I really recommend it, it's one of my favourites now!) ... and a fellow Ravenclaw xD I've got some Slytherin and Hufflepuff character traits as well, but Gryffindor? Nah, that's not me! xD
I love this 🙂 I'm a no on Harry Potter. I read the first 2 with one of my students. I also saw the first movie. That's enough for me. I can hardly wait for your next video.
I’m a huge fan of Harry Potter. I had to take one of those sorting house quizzes for chemistry and I tied ravenclaw hufflepuff and gryffindor they all three had 12 points and slytherin had 8. I definitely consider myself to be a ravenclaw though.
