Love how JB's opening riff was in a minor key. Then after the breakdown, BREAK FREE!!! He changed it to major. The ultimate happy ending. This band is so amazingly talented.
what i like the most about the lyrics is that they dont have to be interpreted religiously. they can be interpreted about love, life struggles, or many other things, depending on the listener. im atheist and i love these guys and As I Lay Dying for being bands that can write such versatile lyrics. not to mention they are both metalcore masters
Even though you wrote this 9 years ago, I am here to say I hope you got through your struggle. I am going through a struggle right now and Jesus is my way out and this song has such a Godly interpretation to me. BREAK FREEE!
@@tdk3713 Still a big song, but glad it doesn't apply like it did 9 years ago! Appreciate it man, and life is full of highs and lows, keep the faith and look inward as that helped me. Also this band released Spirit Breaker an album later which got me through another stage later on. You've got this!
@@tuckin4u hope your still doing good man. I don't believe in faith or God or anything but be proud of yourself too man and give yourself credit. YOU are the one who changed for yourself. No one did it for you👊 stay strong. Life is hard sometimes
This song seriously has so much meaning to it...literally brought me to tears the first time I heard it. Thank you to all of ABR for being there for me since day 1.
Your life is beautiful & meaningful even without that experience! Remember you will always have 1 person who loves you & that's the 1 that matters the most (The Lord Christ)
This song was so amazingly crafted. Same riff opening in a minor key, ending the song in a major key after "breaking free". Jake's closure which could have been suicide, yet he cried out to Christ and was renewed. Simply brilliant. I love this band so freaking much.
I cried when ABR played this live on 10/4/12. He was looking at me from time to time, I was at the rear front. He acknowledged my existence when I felt no one else did. A few songs after that he reached his hand out and touched my fingers. It was an unforgettable experience. I will never decide to end my life because of that! I love ABR!
I started playing guitar 5 years ago.......and ABR has inspired me to improvise alot better than any other band. The lyrics are like reading my own mind. ABR, keep jammin, never stop, and keep that faith strong just as i do. God Bless.
Man, almost all of August Burns Red's music is very inspirational! That's why they're my favorite hardcore band. If I ever get mad or worked up, I can just listen to some ABR, and it calms me down. Who says that you can't have a strong, positive message in metal music?
First lines are soooo true, silence is a frustrating answer when all you want is a sign. that god exists and is there for me. this song is that sign for me.
I seriously get so emotional reading the stories and comments people have cuz it's the same way I feel and the reason I love music so fucking much. Its such an amazing new experience every time, getting away from everything for a few mins and getting lost in the music. Its fucking amazing!!
I tell you nothing is better then positive metalcore. Whenever I feel like life is a lost cause I put ABR on and it makes me smile and, puts life into perspective. Thanks for all that you do ABR and I hope you stay together forever.
I'm still mesmerized as to how JB plays that intro and outro live without a single note missed... If anybody has seen the tab and learned it, you know that is DAMN hard, let alone on-stage, tired, and sweaty.. WTAF
1:43 - calm 1:54 - "No one knows the weight on your shoulders..." 2:05 - 'These thoughts wont stop" - the music is heavy and dark ( I am sure this part is about suicide) 2:17 - I get frisson at this part and the high notes ringing at the end make my hair stand up on my neck and arms 2:28 - 'it be so easy to take the easy way out' - the suicidal thoughts again
compassion is a beautiful thing so show some for yourself!!! rock solid from the outside looking in. its hard to be surrounded by the ones that you love when they keep passing you by.
When I first got this album, I only liked this and carpe diem, but after fully exploring this, this band is awesome! Can't wait to get sleddin' hill on christmas :)
