At the end of the movie all the children gets factory Augustus to he will not be turned into fudge and get turned into a chocolate bar he would be yucky😖
The suction would also remove all the air from inside the tube and move it to the chamber above. Augustus would suffocate during the song, or at the very least he would drown after once he's in the chamber full of chocolate.
poor Augustus! he missed out on so much of the tour, he barely got to see anything! but hey, at least he got a behind the scenes tour of how the chocolate is transported throughout the factory :-D
This 2005 film of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is INCREDIBLE! So much more catchy, visually-beautiful, and true to the novel. Roald Dahl hated the original movie in the 1970's....he even hated it so much that he didn't allow its name (forced it to be called Willy Wonka instead).
I find it funny in both versions how Wonka is angry that Augustus is touching his chocolate, but when he gets sucked up the pipe, he's like, "Eh, whatever."
Hate me for saying this, but I think the Oompa Loompa songs in this version are far superior to the "original." Think about it, the only reason those old songs are memorable is because of the nostalgia. If Willy Wonka came out today, would those songs really hold up? Hell no, their very one note. Listen to Danny Elfman's great score, not only does he write each song in a new style, but these are very catchy and brilliant.
+Coral Roper Ofcourse, they are not "Human" preferably. Even though they have humanoid features..Besides, they wear gloves and a skin-tight suit, don't they?
People say this movie should be about Charlie instead of Wonka but, really, I'd like to know about the guy who made TV chocolate real, made CANDY GROW, and so much more things we could really use now! So.... poor kid who got lucky or man who was never loved as a kid and made miracles?
Huge fan of Wonka, and I love how we are all talking about the physics of this scene. But has no one mentioned it's melted chocolate? He'd be scalded before he had to worry about suction and drowning.
+Ian Borton "people? every drop of the river, is HOT, MELTED CHOCOLATE of the finest quality. and do you like my meadow? place have a blade, please do. it's so delectable and so darn good lookin'" so yeah.
+Ian Borton maybe it's not boiling and maybe that's why the chocolate stuck to him as we see at 1:16 and why would he be drinking it if it was burning him
Has anyone noticed that his mouth is fine? I'm sorry, but don't you think that if your drowning in a chocolate river, it's going to get on your teeth? Unless... Is he... Is he drinking the chocolate that enters his mouth? He was drinking and breathing in liquid chocolate, but his teeth are fine? He really is a black hole, everything that enters is never seen again.
Jason jason jason jason j j and j gen gave her a sad I am a lovely lovely girl no liar i'm a boy lovely im do you do you love me but you let me have the day car no don't think of the lovely lovely I am love you earlier than anything anything anything I'll go alright year ago I buy everything I want nobody I didn't get the day I own a weirdo hello hello weirdo i'm a fat ugly boy
A boy is drowning in chocolate, sucked into a pipe, and about to be turn into chocolate. What do you do? A) Call for help B) Follow the Oompa Loompa to get him back C) Sing a song
also in the blueray version at 3:05 the oompa loompas sing a line that goes like this "we'll boil him for a minute more, til were absolutely sure, then out he comes by god, by grace, a miracle has taken place, a miracle has taken place"
I recall an extra verse in this song, right between the lyrics "cogs begin to grind and pound" and "this greedy brute, this louse's ear": "We'll boil him for a minute more Just to be absolutely sure Then out he comes, By God, by Grace A miracle has taken place A miracle has taken place"
I didn't see it in the theater, but I remember seeing it on TV when the movie first aired on one of the Starz channels. When I bought the DVD, the lyric was missing.
I love how Wonka tells Augustus that his chocolate cannot be tpuched by human hands, yet a bunch of Oompa Loompas jump in, and Wonka has absolutely no problem with it.
Yeah in the original they can't save him because he gets sucked into the pipe before anyone can do anything. In here his own mother could've dived in to save him and I'm sure Wonka could've stopped the pipe. But as the scene shows he's like "yeah I don't care so I'm gonna let this kid go"
I saw this movie in theaters after reading the book. As soon as the Oompa-Loompas started singing, I cheered! As much as I love the 1971 movie, I never liked the Oompa-Loompa songs there. I love this version, not just for being faithful, but for for how catchy each one is. Is it as memorable as the 1971 Oompa-Loompa songs? Maybe not, but I liked how it dove deeper into why each child got his/her comeuppance rather than gloss it over.
+guy-manuel de honhonhon croissant It's not a remake of the 70s version, it's its own separate adaptation. Plus the 70s version was also somewhat dark and so was the book.
I love how they put physics into it, and make a whirlpool around the pipe, and the chocolate is oerfect, but in the first film, the chocolate's like brown water.
how come they skip the line 'The cogs begin to grind and pound; We boil him for a minute more,' when it's in the soundtrack Lol in fact I could have sworn it was in the movie but when I saw the movie a second time it wasn't there anymore ?? it's been bugging me all these years lol
MIGHTYM4RS because they say in those lyrics out he comes, by GOD by grace. Some people dont believe in god so they didnt have it in this video. The actual movie has it though
i like this version, but for some reason i felt more sorry for the original augustus. he wasnt a bad kid he was just a little overweight and when he fell into the chocolate river no one helped him except charlie but it was a failed attempt and this augustus got what was coming to him. remember when they were in the hallway and augustus asks charlie if he wants some chocolate and when charlie said sure, augustus replied "then you should have brought some" see what i mean?
Because he is blocking the tube, shouldn't a vacuum be created? So he wouldn't have been able to breath, and he would have passed out 15 seconds later due to lack of oxygen to brain.
Probably some sort of safety feature on the pipe. Or maybe it was deliberately programed to stop him until the song was over, and it give him air during the pause.
Richard W. They used cgi to creat the scene of him going half way. Then when he is stuck its real. After the song, he gets sucked up all the way which then goes back to cgi
When your claustrophobia kicks in and seeing Augustus stuck in a the see-through pipe makes you uncomfortable. When I first saw this I remember being really anxious when he was kind of drowning in the vat of chocolate. xD
it's probably the nostalgia factor they got from the old one. The original was their childhood, so they feel the need to lash out at the new one, even though it wasn't even bad.
