The fact that she’s willing to have a relationship with her sister’s husband will never sit right with me. She’s already got all these other problems, but that’s crossing a fine line. Especially after everything Linda does for her
It's definitely an uncomfortable fact of the show. The fact that she can't seem to understand Bob's refusal to cheat on Linda with her is... unsettling. Her heavily implied jealousy of Linda's comparatively better, more stable life seems to drive her to want to "replace" Linda sometimes, which is frankly disturbing.
Honestly, that's not even the bad part. Like, okay. You're trying to get your sister's husband to cheat on her with you. Whatever, two consenting adults making bad decisions. What really gets me is how she took sexual advantage of him while he was too high to stand and then used that as an excuse to continue to sexually harass him. That's jailtime in my eyes.
it's pretty easy to understand that gayle is special needs and sometimes they can't really understand situations like this. I've worked with many people who had autism or down syndrome or something along those lines that made understanding social situations hard. It's not that she is trying to hurt Linda, she just doesn't understand the severity of it all. Gayle has a slight understanding of everything but she is unable to go into depth because of how her brain functions.
She's like the worst qualities of Gene, Tina, and Louise turned up toe eleven. Gene's extreme enthusiasm and incapability to take care of himself. Tina's anti-social behavior and thirst for boys. And Louise's intimidation and violent tendencies.
No gene is enthusiastic because he took it from Linda…and both love singing and music. Tina is a teen and Ofcourse she will like boys but she has slow and deep speech like bob And also Louise is smart and crazy as both of her parents.
And all I have in my life is that faceless hermaphrodite, who identifies as a sofa cushion, so I have to hide... them... from the world, because they want fat blue-haired climate activists to sit on them and will go after anyone, who looks fat or batshit crazy enough 🤔 What I would give for a halfway presentable man with a face! 🥰
@@unterdessen8822 Awe, don't call yourself a hermaphrodite. Your kid is doing this thing called "hurting no one" because acceptance is scary to you Rump supporters.
Seeing Gayle in an episode is like hearing there’s an accident on the road ahead. You know that it’s a disaster, but it’s a little exciting to see the disaster for yourself.
I love how Gayle's fragile ego feeds her paranoia. She's so sensitive people don't want to tell her unpleasant things so when she ends up finding out anyway she thinks everyone around her is a liar and out to get her. She's quirky and weird in a really believable way
Yeah. The pumpkin carving episode would pretty much count as solid evidence to couple this analysis. Linda destroyed her first place winning pumpkin to spare her sister from having another meltdown.
@@thibautisserant THIS! It pissed me off so much whenever Linda kept giving Gayle money behind everyone's back, when everyone knows the family is struggling financially too. They enable Gayle too much.
I just.... this is some character analysis that I can apply to some people in my real life and I am just flabbergasted that I got this kind of clarity fom the RU-vid comment section on Bob's Burgers. Thank you
@@saffy771 why are you saying that you just made that up and that's not even a thing, i have a middle part if i didn't i would look ridiculous i don't think it matters
I can't remember how long each episode is but if they last as long as I'm thinking then it's literally close to being a full on episode of just nothing but Gayle 🤣🤣
Honestly one of my favorite things about Bob's Burgers is that it treats all the side characters really well, like giving them all a life outside of the plot it's such a good show
I love good guest characters/actors that get recognition because of their impact. Megan Mullaly did this character very well and, to my knowledge, doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I've seen this RU-vid video far too many times.
I have an aunt who looks and acts just like Gayle, it’s crazy. My mom and my other aunt (her sisters) and I have taken to calling her Gayle when she’s not around 😭😭😆
I have an aunt who acts eccentric, wears glasses, obsessed over cats and has been wronged by some men before (but she's happily married now) Strangely enough her name actually IS Gayle. It's even spelled the same way!
That one episode where Louise runs away to Aunt Gayle’s house is what I believe to be the perfect representation of Gayle. Absolutely nuts, but a generally kind and lovable person who just likes to be loud and happy and cares about her family.
My theory is that Gayle has bad, untreated anxiety issues. She has bad social issues, prone to fits of hysteria and panic in extremely random circumstances, she's easily overwhelmed by stimuli that doesn't affect most people. Teddy I think has it too to a lesser extent.
Well, you're not wrong there,kinda.. Although,it's (Somewhat) confirmed that Teddy was actually a Navy Veteran, from hat I recall reading upon it,y'know..? So maybe that's part/partly part of some form of PTSD from his wartime/navy time/term though,honestly-Though Teddy's more reserved though,so to speak..
@@NinthSettler not me but i have to learn at some point, a couple, but one specifically like one of my classmates said he'd crash his car into someone else's for fun because he doesn't care about what the rules are he drives how he wants 😬 im so scared to drive
I love how the kids sarcastically buy into her delusions. "He can go outside" "Lock him down!" "A psychic said I'm lactose intolerant" "Yeah, Dad, you know a psychic said that!"
I love that Linda has such a big heart and loves her family so much. She really loves her sister Gayle and I think that's so sweet. But. It's a big BUT. I'll never get over the fact that she did encourage her husband to pretend like he and Gayle were having an affair/secret relationship just so Gayle can find herself a boyfriend. I love Linda but I also like the show points out that her enabling is a problem. I can't with Gayle sometimes..okay not even sometimes. She's the best and the worst at the same time. She's a LOT. I didn't even remember that part where she finally accidentally got told her goldfish wasn't actually immortal.
She’s the same way with Gene in some episodes. I think while her heart is definitely in the right place, her biggest flaw is being an enabler. Also, I felt so bad for Bob in that episode lmao. Linda kept up the cheating husband charade even as he was about to have his tooth pulled out 😭
@@CometCereal No, that's the thing that bothered a lot of fans. She was so upset that she really forgot about HER plan to let Bob pretend he was Gayle's boyfriend and slapped Bob twice on the mouth. I vaguely remember her telling Bob she didn't like seeing it. So I don't think she expected her sister to try and go that far with her husband. Her plan only worked when she pretended to be in love with Dr. Yap. Gayle lost interest in Bob and she gets the relationship Linda wanted her sister to have. She was a pushover with all three kids but is starting to put her foot down now they're not as cute and need that tough parenting love.
@@m.c.9419 It hadn’t occurred to me that Linda had forgotten about her original plan, I thought she was just extremely committed to the bit 😅. I agree though, Linda definitely has learned to be more firm with Gayle and the kids compared to the earlier seasons. Although she does occasionally have her slip ups like in “All that Gene”.
There really needs to be an episode where Bob stops Linda from enabling Gayle so that Gayle can finally have a moment of seeing how things really end up going instead of Linda trying to shield and baby her sister because she doesn't think her sister can handle it. And yeah it's true, she may not be able to handle it at first but she has to get used to it to be able to handle it, and Linda is getting in the way of that
I don't know what their parents did, but it's clear that Gale snapped and never got the help she needed to recover. Even her cats are like: leave me alone weirdo.
Honestly i love how the writers are aware of annoying she is which is why she only appears every once in a while They don't want to overload us with her annoyance unlike some other shows out there
@@notyourfrind9415 the difference is that almost everything Teddy does is either for someone else, or to try and form a deeper friendship/connection with the people around him. Teddy would take a bullet for Bob, Linda, or any of the kids and not even flinch. Gayle would be holding the gun.
I felt the eyedrops thing. Put them in for the outer corner, you can do it with your eye closed too. It goes across the water line, then open to let it in
Don't they (doctors & instructions) put a lot of emphasis on NOT touching the eye drop tip with eyes or hands? Because it contaminates the surface and leads to a buildup of bacteria
@@lkcullen1918 Who said to touch your eyeball with the dropper? That would hurt! I just said apply them to the side of the eye. You won't see the drop coming and blink block it.
@@chereaj7891 oh, ok! lol The way I read it at first reminded me of the way my brother used to do it. Which was putting the dropper IN his inner corner and squeezing the drops in💀his doc gave our parents an earful about it
@@starseer73 her debut outfit had shorts and a bear top, Next we saw her in pink with her hair down, Then she changed to her standard which she'd wear more often, we've also seen her in her ski outfit, long sleeves version, and that fall outfit she wire in the pumpkin smashers episode Then Gene will randomly wear costumes if the episode calls for ut
@@starseer73 she often spices up her looks and adds accessories to the outfits that match the episode along with gene(who also often wears costume pieces and wigs and everything else). The other characters typically just add a coat or gloves on, those two tend to actually change up their looks. 👍
“ The creative block is the most terrifying thing you’ll face is an artist” Me: Oh, she’s actually right- 2 seconds later: *Goes insane* Me: There it is…😀
I have an aunt that is painfully similar to gayle. Unmarried, anxious, should be institutionalized. It’s pretty wild to me that one of the writers must have had a similar experience
Sadly, untreated mental health issues are pretty common. People are more likely to be related to a Gayle than not. If it helps, just try to remember that it's not the fault of any Gayles out there that they're like this; They should have been provided with formal health assistance way earlier, and they may not be able to access or obtain help on their own. It's rough out there for all Gayles and Gayle-adjacent people; I've dealt with many Gayles in my own family, too.
@@pearlngozi2818 I think they're just pointing out the similarities between Gayle and her aunt. Nobody said it was a flaw it's just comparing the two.
Gayle adds a wonderful surreal spice to the show. We all know someone who has a little Gayle in them. I would like for her to find someone just as quirky to make her happy and give her confidence. She's kind of like a female Teddy. Perhaps there will be sparks one day?
Considering Gale’s obsession with Bob, she strikes me as the sister who always had a crush on Linda’s boyfriends or charges. And Linda just indulges it
Linda is functional though. Gayle is so disorganized and delusional she can barely care for her cats, never mind sustain a reasonable income or relationships.
I wouldn't say "just as" but both of them and their mother are horrible in many ways. Linda is definitely more stable but her some episodes her selfishness astounds me. Calling Bob a dream killer for calling the cops after they were robbed at gunpoint, *with their kids present* among many other things throughout.
Gayle: “HELLO!” Bob: “Oh, it’s just Gayle everyone.” Gayle: “ok….” Lmao I felt bad for her cause she was so excited to see them but Bob ruined her mood. But it was still fucking hilarious lol.
