"The older type of musicians for which the Kentucky Mountain region became famous are rapidly disappearing. One of the last is 'Aunt Mandy' Bailey, of the feudin' Baileys, an 84-year-old five-string 'banjer picker' and singer who ocasionally throws in a few dance steps, authentic of the folk culture of the Appalachians. The dress she wears in the picture 'Renfro Valley Barn Dance', was made for her by her 92-year-old sister who sat up most of the night to finish it in time for the next day's filming."
