Yes! I was heading to the comments to see if anyone noticed about that bride! Absolutely loved her experience on this show. Gok was truly an angel with her.
Don't get me wrong, I like Lori from the America version. She does go out of her way to make dresses affordable. However, Monty is judge and David from another version is pushy. GOK is so caring and attentive! Also, I love Al and Jo from curvy brides. They always make the brides feel confident and beautiful!

My favorite moment is when the blind bride with auburn hair came in. He asked if she had ever seen and she said yes. He then likened her to a beautiful red fox frolicking in the snow so that she could use her memory to “see” herself. I cried it was so thoughtful and kind.

The woman crying and saying that she is fat, her mom told her she looked fat, that broke my heart. Hope she gets the confidence that she is beautiful. Gok is always so good with brides and dresses in this shop are unique and more beautiful compared to others . Love this version of the show.
There's a reason why Gok, Randy, Monty, Lori and so many of the Say Yes to the Dress stars are stars: they care about women and help them and take pride in their work. The way they work with brides is an act of love, in many ways. If we all do our very best at work, and go the extra mile, we can truly change lives. No matter what your job is, you have a chance to put love into the world every day.
This young girls mother obviously needs therapy for body image problems because her daughter is rail thin, no fat at all and it’s a shame she puts her own insecurities on her daughters head on what should be the happiest day of both their lives. May God help the bride see the truth and may he let the mother get the therapy she needs.
@Ruoshui Liu but its true though. The older asians are so difficult to change. Most dont believe in therapy. They just tell you to suck it up or see it as a sign of weakness. In this case, the stereotype is true
Personally I think she had a very flat stomach, flatter than average. She overall looked slender too, like in the lower BMI range and skinnier than the average person. Not too skinny as in an unflattering way though. She's petite with a small frame, but also slender.
Her mother sounds like a horror show if she thinks her daughter is fat. Are you kidding me? She'd blow away in a good stiff wind! She looks slim and elegant!
I love Gok's version of SYTTD. He's so kind and accepting of most, if not all, ideas. I like David Emmanuel, for example, but he was dumbfounded when one time there was a bride who wanted to wear trainers to her wedding. Gok instead took the wellies in stride and even convinced the bride to keep them when her entourage wanted her to ditch them. He was incredulous that it was even a suggestion, he just accepted that that was what the bride wanted.
These fashion directors are all talented but Gok is literally the BEST in the entire SYTTD franchise! Randy is a close 2nd. David in London comes across quite sincere and kind hearted but that pretentious queen Joseph in the Canadian version is not impressive at all. Monte in Atlanta is entertaining and seems to have a good heart but he and Lori clown around so much, they come across too silly. Gok needs his own series.
Don't insult Monte and Lori, they're some of the best owners in the series with the biggest hearts. I can't even remember how many times Lori has given away dresses to brides who had been through tough times. I can't believe you consider an asshole like David to be a better host. David never respects anyone's budgets; he's always putting brides in dresses that they can't afford. He's the worst one out of all of them.
Gok is the best in all the show's franchises combined! Also, it is so so so easy to look at his face and get to know how he's feeling about the feedback being given! I love, love, love the guy. Lots of love and hugs from India!
Gok is amazing! I agree with several others, in that Gok helping the blind girl see her dress was so heartwarming and so much compassion. That was a major tissue show.
There are some people who are just born with talent. I believe wholeheartedly that Gok was born to do this job. The way he helps these women is beyond “finding a dress”....he helps each heart and soul. He’s amazing ❤️
Love gok and I really feel for the asian girl who felt fat. The anxiety is real. I have the same pressures from my family (even extended family and friends) constantly judging my weight in real life and from online photos. And I'm size 8-10. So sad.
my friends mom used to always tell me i ate like a bird, and it made me really self concious so i wouldn't ever eat at their house (even if i hadnt eaten)
Asian cultures have an incredibly high beauty standard. For instance, in south korea, if you weigh over 110 lbs *no matter how tall you are* you are considered fat. In China, because having a baby girl is undesirable, I would not be surprised if there was a very high pressure put on girls from their parents and society to be their definition of beautiful, no matter how extreme it is. I do not want to presume her exact heritage however. In short, if you don't fit in this unreasonable box of their beauty standards, you're considered ugly in Asia. In the states, we've started celebrating all body types, shapes, skin tones, but in Asia they are still behind on that.
TheGirlWithThatFace nowadays only people in small villages think that having a baby girl is undesirable.... no offense, but I have to correct your impression of China. And we do like slim body of Woman, so most of Asian woman are slim , this is also why we look younger than others. One more thing, if the girl is tall , of course she should weight more...
I actually bought my wedding dress online when I got married 7 years ago and I really regret that (even though it was a lovely dress). I missed out on the experience of trying on different dresses, falling in love with one and being made to feel so special. My dream is to have a second wedding and fly to Lancashire so I could meet Gok and have him dress me. He is just so lovely ❤️ I would treasure that experience always.
I love how much he cares for the brides feelings and also that he never pressures them to go over their budget. Gok is amazing, I always adored him, he is so perfect for a job like this.
This man Gok, is so humble, and so sentitive to the brides past history, their present physc ie, and he makes them feel, renewed and beautiful and confident about who they are, now and what they imagine themselves to be, he is truly gifted, even if we think the dress is nt the best on the bride, the self belief he instills in those brides is priceless well done again Gok
Fox in the snow will always be my fav, but that came out in March and this in April, maybe this video was already done before that came out. But most definitely, that episode was too precious for words. It truly was a testament to how amazing Gok is, when someone with no sight is able to feel and know how beautiful they are and love their dress because he took the time to walk her through the details and paint a picture for her. My God, Gok really is a gem.

After watching a few of these videos, I love Gok Wan! I first heard of him watching Alan Carr's standup. He seems like such a kind and genuine person who want to help the bride feel beautiful and special.

Okay what a wonderful episode Bride 1 was so beautiful the dress was absolutely made for her simply spectacular! Oh but how Bride number 2I the beautiful princess as a mom myself simply broke my heart with her tears shards of glass of wishing that I could just wave the magic fairy dust and she could just see how incredibly beautiful she is and how many young ladies wish they had her figure just as it is absolutely perfect! Some moms are just tragically way too tough for words! Bride number three was absolutely thrilled with the special touches of 🌹 roses that you gave her And bride number four again so heart-wrenching to see not how beautiful you've been the entire time all of the brides were given the gift of happiness by the special team of expertise that put so much love and compassion into their caring opportunities that God had presented for them in these beautiful young ladies. The American version is ALL DRAMA !! Here the smiles and the passion from Consultant look so Genuine, it makes you want to be a Bride and have your own little memory to cherish forever. I've never felt beautiful in my life but I know I am , and I wish one day , I'll wear a beautiful gown , open my eyes and see the Beautiful Woman that I've become.

I love how gok was so supportive of the wellie's were other bridal shows belittle the brides with unique accessories. I have seen episodes on other shows that basically bully the bride until she gives.
