Everyone keeps calling that style 1920s but it's not. The 20s were drop waist and short hem. The style he put her in was 1930s.

He does English country weddings where people grow up in traditional villages and marry in country gardens and castles so the dresses fit that. The ones in the city are catering for people who live in modern urban centres and marry in modern hotels and destination beachside resorts

Wow, thank you for pointing that out! I'm a gown designer, and when the mirror moment happens, I usually am standing next to the client, with both of us looking at her reflection and me telling her how amazing she looks. It would be so much better to stand aside, smile, and look her in the eye while she has her own moment in the mirror!

I live in an apartment building that used to be a happenin' hotel that was built in the late 1920s, complete with Art Deco lettering and colors. Those 1920s dresses just sang to me of that Era! Sooo beautiful, even though my physique is not a match for such glam gowns. But hey, these ladies rock the look! 😁😁

Ah I loved it! The texture was so fun and very couture (very McQueen or Dior in the 2000's) and her smile said it all

I loved both as well. She had a 1920’s look about her. I could see her in a flapper dress with a headband across her forehead, maybe some feathers. Very Great Gatsby-esque

I've never seen more than a couple clips of his old show, but you can tell that he's coming from that same perspective of wanting them be kinder to themselves and love their own appearance. With the first and last bride especially, there's just a lovely sense of 'I don't want you to feel uncomfortable, so we're going to start with something gentle and safe and then work our way towards showing you how the things you're insecure about help make you beautiful.'
