Thank you for this unboxing video. Even though it was 4yrs ago, I needed a video for instructions and then also how to repack it for a return. It doesn't micro cut into confetti as much as it should. Most of the paper comes out in long strips, so this bad boy has to go back to the manufacturer.
Thanks for the REVIEW .... just going into my 2nd hour of amazon reviews/comparison ... torn between THIS, the AmazonBasics 12-Sheet High-Security Micro-Cut, and a few Bonsai 14 or 18 sheets.... Was leaning towards this one, until I read review about mess involved with emptying pull-out bin.... But, YOU cleared that up, reassured me, and showed me the features and functions in action, and so, I think I'm going with this one.... THANKS! Oops, finally, have you noticed any repercussions for "off-label" (hehe) shredding of plastic-windowed unopened junk mail over time? I have TONS to shred, but with the 60 minute cycle, think I"ll make a huge dent rather quickly.... Great review!
Hey thanks so much for the comment I’m really happy my review helped you. And this shredder has been a real workhorse and I’ve thrown most everything at it including envelopes with transparent covers and it’s taken it without a sweat and asked for more! Yeah! It’s asked for more! I haven’t yet been able to push this baby to its limit and that’s saying a lot given how much junk mail I have to go through. I have no doubt you’ll enjoy this unit.
That's a great cross-cut shredder as it shreds into very small pieces practically impossible to stick back into decipherable material. No, once it's gone through that shredder it's gone for good!! I also have a micro-cross-cut shredder, I swear by em, emptying isn't a hassle just grab handfuls out and shove into a polythene bag and throw it out.
Thanks for the review I was useful info about how it works I would of been better if you tried to put in a CD 💿 to try to shred. But over all very useful info how the shredder work Thanks a lot.
That's what frustrates me about some negative product reviews. Misuse by the operator, not a defect, but the rating of the product gets an undeserved downgrade and as someone without experience with it I don't know until I come across clarification.
I was concerned after reading the review about emptying the bin as well. The person said you had to remove the top to empty it and complained that it was heavy and made a mess. That is obviously incorrect based on this video. Thanks!
I just got this shredder and think it shreds great. It's quiet and as quick as I need it to be, but I have one big problem that I can't see addressed on any shredder videos I've seen. When I pull the bin out to empty it, the static electricity that's created causes the shreddings to 'fly' all over the place...upward, sideways, etc...I did see a shredder comparison video that shows one with an ionizer and the other without one. The one with the ionizer shows no signs of the static electricity I'm experiencing, but since this shredder doesn't have one, I'm wondering if anyone else has or had the same problem. If so, please let me know what you do to prevent the static from building up...thanks in advance...
I would say yes but it would depend on the thickness. Your average amazon delivery cardboard box or post office box would be simple enough for this to shred.
These cuttings are not "micro" cut, and can EASILY be reassembled back into the original page. It takes more work than single strip shredders, but it can be done, and is done all the time by investigators who are used to reassembling destroyed documents. I have a shredder I bought at Staples 17 years ago, still running strong, that cross-cuts my paper into 1mm x 4mm strips that are just about the width of a toothpick, only slightly larger than grains of long rice. These CANNOT be reassembled, but also can't be recycled, because the grain of the paper is too small. If you took one of your micro-cut pieces, and cut it into 3 pieces, lengthwise, that's about the size of what this old Staples shredder can do. The reason they do not make them like this anymore, is so the shredded pages CAN be reassembled, if needed. Current models of shredders are NOT secure, unless you're going to burn the shreddings in a rotating cage to ensure they're fully incinerated, or use them in potting soil or spread them in the wind.
YES ! I'm sure you know to remove all labels and tape;) And it is best to shred them horizontally as oppose to vertically. The reason being, vertically will have a tendency to get stuck up on ether side of the cutting cylinders.and less likely shredding horizontally.
