Just as background, she is Norwegian, taught herself to sing and play piano (although she took dance lessons while still in school), and started writing music when she was about 6 years old and lyrics (in English) when she was about 11. Aurora Aksnes was discovered accidentally when a high school classmate posted a video on facebook (without her permission) taken of her performing a song at a high school talent show that went viral locally. This, combined with another another friend’s posting of a recording she had made for her parents (so she wouldn’t have to perform in front of them because of stage fright) attracted an invitation from a local management company. She refused at first, but her mother convinced her to at least try. She writes, produces and performs her own music (with some long-time collaborators) and signed with that management company in Norway in 2013. AURORA subsequently signed with 3 record labels and began touring locally when she was 17. Since then she has completed three world tours, released 4 albums, and is now 27. Her voice is known to many as the voice of the wind calling out in the animated movie Frozen 2, and her ambient vocals are included throughout the Hans Zimmer score for the PBS/BBC series Frozen Planet 2. Her music has been featured in a number of TV shows and video game soundtracks as well. The first major breakthrough for her was the music video made for “Runaway” (written at age 11) that appeared on her first album. She was 18 when they filmed it near her childhood home in Norway. (Katy Perry tweeted about her when she saw this video which raised AURORA’s profile dramatically at the time. This video was also the impetus for young Billie Eilish to pursue her own musical career). Aurora’s live performances are uniformly amazing and you have a lot of wonderful viewing ahead of you. TikTok did not exist when this video was released in Feb 2015, but in March 2021 when the song was 6 years old, it went viral due to being used in a TikTok meme, which propelled it to Top20 world wide on Spotify. She is a pretty famous artist now, but many fans would agree, that she is not as famous as her talent would suggest. She is not getting 600M+ views on her other videos, only on Runaway because of the meme. But she is getting like 12M monthly streams on the streaming services and has 5.5M subscribers on YT and 3.1M on IG and 4.9M on TikTok. She writes all her music and lyrics and has released 3 albums and 2 EPs so far, and the 4th album is coming very soon within 1-6 months probably. Runaway is from her first album "All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend", while "The Gods We Can Touch" is her latest album from January 2022. AURORA is a self-taught piano player and singer. She is from norway, and is 27 soon 28 years old and she started making melodies when she was 6 years old . Great guys! You have stumble upon a real goldmine. She is the Queen of expression, emotions and haunting voice. Her music could be very quirky sometimes but her lyrics is ALWAYS important and thinkworthy. She is specialist to go under the big mainstream radar and we Warriors and weirdos loving her with all our heart. Nearly hundred of her song is recorded and several more is unreleased (and nearly all om them is crazy good) she have done music for games and tv-shows. So there is LOT´s of goldmusic here. Great reaction. Her Runaway music video has that many views because it is years old, but, she is gaining recognition, she is extremely "multi talented", authentic and wonderfully weird. Her fan base is called Warriors and Weirdos because she wants to remind everyone to be a Warrior when life is hard, to never give up and weirdos because she embraces the weird in herself and to let everyone know it is okay to be unique and weird.

Some facts about the Runaway Music Video: It was shot (as far as we know) during January 31 to February 2, 2015. She was 18 at this time. She wrote Runaway at the age of 11-12 and finalized it at the age of 14 (for a school project, as she mentioned in an interview). The parts, where she wears the 'furry' top (it's actually sheep wool) are shot at the west coast of the Drange peninsula, less than a mile away from her parents house. The parts in the forest were shot in the same forest where she played as a kid very close to her parents house. The parts, in which she wears a thin white cardigan and with some trees in the near background and the island of Lysøya in the background, are shot actually in the backyard of her parents house in Drange (Norway).
