Austin is so ahead of the game...literally! Dude is by far the most meticulous, passionate and concerned developer/entrepreneur I’ve come across. I support a smaller company that’s genuinely invested in creating an authentic flight sim and gives Microsoft a good run for its money. With that being said, I’m about to purchase this game with my hard earned money, you deserve every cent 👌.
@@igvc1876 Of course he cant. How can a tiny company like Laminar compete with the global juggernaut that is Microsoft not to mention the billions they have to throw at Asobo, Azure & BlackShark AI. MSFS is very impressive , so is XP11. I use both.
I would say both sims ace on different aspects, MSFS has the visuals for sure, but X-plane definitely has the better flight dynamics and aircraft feel.
12:28 -> This moment had me rolling. "Sometimes I feel like I'm confused about X-Plane cause it's like stuff that I coded 15 years ago that I haven't had a look in 15 years, but that's good, it means the code worked and haven't had to change it". KING
2:14 I just loved how Mr Meyer explained the throttle calibration and how the engine works in a turbo prop. I learnt something new today. Thank-you good sir! :)
@Austin; our Epic actually does change automatically tanks (every 15 minutes), but this must be activated during the climb to avoid change during T/O (and disabled before landing). The switch is behind the pilot's yoke. :-)
SkunkCrafts! You're the most promising payware vendor and as if I haven't bugged you enough about the Lancair Legacy RG... I'll pose this fun idea. Your epic Epic might fit so nicely in Austin's Evolution, no? He sent me the unfinished .acf file and the 'how it flies' part is done, so we just need you to give it some shiny skin and leathery seats and the perfect dash that's in the Epic 1000 (G1000 version) and you can start rakin' in the fifty dollar bills! Mine first : -)
poor michael just wants to sell da stuff man, instead we get the full story behind the lever. Awsome. Can't tell how much i enjoy this video series. go on guys.
I have an important question that might be increasing the use of air manager. I have been asking people with xplane10 but can apply to any simulator. In order to see 180, we use three monitors for panoramic views or 3D cockpit also but if the 3D cockpit can be remove(instruments only), then we can use head tracking with if we keep the 3D capabilities. I was told that is not possible but I found one plane that is not finish in xplane10 under experimental planes with name VAN'S AIRCRAFT. When I started, I only see the panoramic view (no instruments or cockpit) but my head tracking was working and I can control head movements in order to have realistic view of the outside. This is fantastic to combine with air manager because you can have only one monitor for the view using head tracking and the second one for air manager instruments. Using four monitors requires a lot of PC. Any idea how we can remove the cockpit with our loosing the 3d capability. Thank you.
I Really Love X-Plane. And Austin, because he's a freaking G E N I U S, coded the sim to link the rudder to the yoke if you don't have rudder pedals plugged in (I don't. They take up a lot of room) and the simulator is absolutely fantastic with out pedals. That's just one example of all the amazing aspects of the Sim. First time I flew the Beech C90B (that comes with the sim at no additional cost) I took off, flew around and greased a perfect landing. BUT... Could not stop! Full brakes. Parking Brake. Full Flaps. Throttle all the way to the stop. But no. No stop. Ran off the runway into the trees. Some internet searching let me to finally program a button on my stick to do reverse. In the last month I've put about 50 hours in the Areobask Epic 1000 and it's wonderful. For me though I'd rather be flying Austin's Lanair Evolution. There's about 70 of them in real life, so I can dream of owning one where as the Epic (which really is Epic) is only a one-and-done prototype. The Evolution has the same engine and as a 4-place, must be a ripper!
Yay Teterboro, where I got my PPL twenty years ago :-). I have the original Yoko and the TQ6 +, love them! Now I need to check out that awesome Epic. Thanks Mike and Austin. Great stuff. By the way, that approach looked almost as scary as my first landing at TEB. "By the way, I never do this is the real plane". LOL :-)
Great video! That monitor is a CHG90, I have two of them. They are really great and I bought mine refurbished for 620 each instead of 1k each. For 8k I would say get a Jetmax Airliner Sim. For the cockpit for this you can get sheet metal and have a machine shop cut it for 30 bucks locally or you can do it yourself with a dremel. Paint it and your in business.
so the realsimgear G1000 as well as the throttle unit are good only for certain plane types and not planes like Airbus and Boeing. I think one should by a more general setup to be able to enjoy X-Plane at its true level
I bought the game and a flight sim rig because of watching Austin...I just cant unsee the Will Ferrell similarities :-D - Thanks Austin and the X-Plane team.
Hey if Austin reads this. I’ve had this weird bug where when I plug in my rudder pedals it still keeps on the auto rudder when I’m flying and keeps it auto coordinated. Is there a way to fix this?
Wow, I just started watching a crap ton of videos on youtube about general aviation in Hope's of become a pilot someday. I've always heard the sound of turbo props roaring on the taxi way but never new what I was hearing until now.
Dear Austin’s could you tell me how to set horizontally in my iPads XAVION also could you do it for the G2000 also is some how to import your XAVION to my g2000 for my TTX
You just made a 70+ yr old pilot laugh ... over and over again. Love the business slams, the technical insight. I don't much care about what you're evaluating because you're comments seem to be spot on. I do like some of the HW, but think my ultimate solution is a bit different. You're an interesting guy Austin.
I want to see a full flight of Austin without like hyperspace and him using charts and move the camera so he can sit infront of it i think ~1hr 30min of Austin we would learn alot
Michael, how can spend 8kUSD on a setup and install it on a 15USD table like that? You must have some logic behind that, although I have to say a potentially weird one.
Long time subscriber to Michael's channel and I'm loving these recent videos with Austin. Especially interested in the bit on FTS. An organization I help out purchased 5 sims from them before and during the time that they were bought out by Roland Pinto. Very bummed to hear what he's done to the company :(
Idle is set to keep the engine self sustaining. Anything slower results in overtemp. We also have to keep the idle RPM above minimum fuel flow. Pt6's are not made of aluminum.
This is really good. I have redbird gear which is decent. I may have been better off with the yoko or something else; I don't know. Also have a dual engine throttle. I want HALL sensors on my yoke, which are 99% stable.
We talked about it a bit. He is taking it seriously, but also knows that what we have seen so far amounts to a movie trailer. Most movie trailers make a movie look awesome...even bad ones. So, it is really going to be hard to tell much until people have a finished product on a machine in front of them. Just like in photography, you can hide a lot of flaws by just showing the good stuff. I'm not saying it is going to be bad. I'm just saying we won't know until we try the finished product.
Although these look great and Austin can sell me a rock I would recommend the honeycomb yoke and throttle when it comes out as there will be 3 different handle option, trim wheels, and a few different panels all for just £250
Hi, I like watching Xplane videos, I must say, you are a very good teacher. I thought you were going to crash at the end, but you made. lol, Nice crazy flying you did testing that simulator. I would have not been able, to fly with you during those testing times. lol, Good Job Though...PS after reading some of the comments down below, I must agree with the commenters, this guy is hilarious, he had me crying at the end. lol lol
I have always admired Austin Meyer's enthusiasm and straight-forwardness. I've been an X-Plane loyalist since version 6 and I plan to keep on supporting X-Plane in the future. Micro$oft might want to get back into the simulator market in 2020, but as far as I'm concerned they can go pound sand. They do not have the energy, drive and long-term commitment which Laminar Research has.
While true, you also have future ongoing costs of the private certificate, i think for people who cant actually get out and fly in the real world who want a realistic experience, this would be a good setup, or vr
Austin, I see you have the Title bars showing on the top of the 2 RSG Panels. They can be hidden but it's a REAL pain doing it. I wish you guys could help make the pop-out windows Title-LESS. It would be nice to maxamize them on another monitor (like the RSG panels) without the title bars. One click and BOOM, they just fit perfectly.
Lmao theres this easter egg in xplane 10 where if you have the 747 and you look through the plane theres one lavatory that says occupied and if you open it you will find austin
You put all that expensive hardware on a rickety 50 dollar card table... that's like buying a Porsche and using cheap Chinese brand tires. IKEA trips and desk setups make awesome content videos.
gave it a chance but it just does not do the job. Too much stuff is missing: holding at waypoints, menus, no gps page for raim check..... worst is turning the heading bug. this takes forever as it does not speed up while turning. so nice to play around but not even close to a real AATD or FNPT. If you want to train you still need P3D with Flight1tech`s G1000 student simulator PRO... Too bad if you do not have the money
Michael Brown you put in a lot of effort to correct a spelling mistake. You must have some sort of superiority complex that compels you to be a prick. By the way, a different camera angle would have solved the issue. Lazy as well as a prick. Good day sir.
