@@cbeary2000 I know it's easy to say Desanto, becuase it's desanto, but AZE slapped the shit out of him like 5 seconds into the match, and the ref lost control then andd there
I think Desanto was wrestling his style and AZE was letting it get to his head to much. Then again Desanto should maybe tone it down a bit cause he's not in college anymore these guys won't take it as much on the international level.
@@salihtiger6569Um…the ref kept the AZE wrestler in it with constant stoppages. The AZE wrestler needs to toughen up and get better. He clearly wanted to counter wrestle rather than be offensive.
S You, the judges, have 1 second left If the judges declare you defeated one second before the end, you will lose your district. It is easy to look down on someone else and call them unworthy.
@@ggrene8266 Really? I understand the humor however the opposing coaches are actually dignified men. It is just their hotheaded wrestler. Also what an original joke, come on brother you can do better than that.
From what I understood this is what happened, Desanto got 1 for passivity 0-1 - 3:15 Rzazade Got 1 for passivity 1-1 - 6:24 Rzazade takedown 3-1 - 6:34 Desanto Challenges it for pulling on singlet, wins the challenge 3-2 - 8:30 Desanto gets 1 for push out 3-3 - 9:15 Desanto gets another point for passivity 3-4 - 9:36 Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s I took from it
@@BradenSchuyler think last point was a push out but I could be wrong also. That or I think at this level you lose a challenge they give the other guy a point.
@MsEdgar88Apparently, Desanto was awarded four “1’s” before any criteria could be assessed? I don’t know. I was pretty confused on the scoring, myself. 🤷♂️
He's way smarter than people give him credit for. He knows exactly what he's doing and it's part of his art. He is a jedi knight with head games, not to mention a damn good wrestler.
I wrestled the same way. I was more of a counter wrestler. I needed my opponent mad and attacking. I needed the ref to not call stalling while I waited for a mistake.
@@viperboyjam1971 AH I see, Kind of like in freestyle how they can drop to a 4 point stance quadpod if someone is behind them and not give up a takedown until the hip hits the mat, thank you.
Austin can be over-aggressive, for sure. But Ali-Baba DID become violent at the end. Note the 12 unanswered shots by De Santo.....and then he gets put on the clock?? Fun match, thanks for posting.
It looks to me like the kid’s grown up. Sure, he has hard hands, but I didn’t see anything you wouldn’t see in any other match. Plus he kept his composure by not retaliating when he got shoved in the face at the end.
I'm an old North Jersey grinder and didn't like De Santo when he was at Iowa at first. After a while his style and relentless pursuit won me over. Plus learning a little bit about the kid and his mind frame. I'm here to tell you as an American, and a wrestling fanatic if you're not happy this kid is on Team USA, you are an idiot.
Why the whistle at the time of 2:37? That was clean shot attempt, Rzazade was being lazy sitting on his knees. Never stop wrestling. Desanto was not being too rough, should have been rougher. Rzazade was throwing some serious heavy hands right from the first whistle. The ref was on the verge of losing control of the match and blew too many quick whistles. Always seems like there is a lot of confusion at Eastern Europe tournaments.
It was fun to watch him grow in his seasons at Iowa. His last season was such a huge improvement over the first season at Iowa not to mention his season at Drexel. Hes gotten even more composed after he finished college hes just a very intense hard charging wrestler that has no quit in him.
This official had it out for Austin from the beginning. He did everything he could to try and make DeSanto lose. Dude needs to go back to the potato farm.
It's not always his fault. He has SORE losers as opponents. Did you see his other international match where his opponent tried to gouge his eyes out at the end of the match? He should have been suspended.
All I really know about wrestling is that if a kid is coming out of OH or PA and is named DeSanto or DiSabito, he's likely to win. That said, Rzazade took things too far, even as Austin was being chippy.
DESANTO IS JUST SIMPLY A REAL MAN. HE CAME TO WRESTLE NOT ARGUE AND FIGHT. FEEL BAD FOR HIM THAT THESE WRESTLERS CANT GIVE HIM THE RESPECT HE DESERVES FOR WINNING THE MATCH FAIR AND SQUARE ALIABBAS DUDE WAS HOLDING HIS SINGLET, AND DUDE WASNT ATTACKING AT ALL, AND AUSTIN WAS STILL BEING TOLD TO CREATE ACTION. STRAIGHT BS IM GLAD THE REAL MAN CAME OUT ON TOP
Made him look soft. Dude was shaking with anger before the last flurry in which he ended up slapping Desanto for wrestling through whistle and not stopping immediately. A late challenge brick changed the score from 3-1 to 3-4, so he was raging. Not sure what was called or how Desanto got +3 after the brick
First brick was for a singlet pull 3-2. Second brick was for unnecessary roughness 3-3 and desanto won an extra point for the other wrestler losing the challenge 3-4
Loved how both AZE coach & the ref(!) were all "what??" 🤷🏻♂️ when desanto's coach threw the brick for the singlet pull...when it was at least the 3rd time Rzazade did it by my count. Pretty blatant too. Great match
Think desanto's 4th point wasn't for Az. losing the challenge tho - they awarded it to desanto just after 10:20, before Az coach threw brick? Strange bc then should've gotten another pt for failed challenge to 5-3, no? Anyway 4th pt was apparently for fleeing the mat (which is why USA coach challenged...you can hear him say, "that was at least 6 steps!"
I’ve never watched freestyle before, but I will say this was interesting. It is definitely way more confusing than folkstyle though. Rzazade got two points from a takedown I’m assuming, but what was his other point from? Same with Desanto. Were his points from step outs or were they rewarded because of misconduct and/or illegal holds? Also what were they challenging?
If you make a challenge and it gets refused your opponent gets a point. If you do something illegal, smack your opponent or being completely disrespectful referee could give a point to your opponent
Rzazade's first point was for a passivity call on Desanto. There are more details, but basically in freestyle you are given a warning and a minute to score a point. If you don't then your you are called for passivity and your opponent gets a point. Its normal in scoreless matches that both wrestlers are put on the passivity clock, one after the other. AD's first point was also from a passivity call on Rzazade.
There is something going on with Desanto. The whole putting up both hands in the air, getting in his stance while the Ref is waiting for a ruling is just weird.
I was hoping to get an understanding of the scoring in this match by reading the comments. But it quickly became clear that the commenters knew less about the scoring than I do! Many were clearly incorrect.
I want to be clear that I'm not a Desanto fan, however I don't understand the drama at 4:36. Looked like a legit reshot and the Azerbaijani wrestler caught it in the face. If that's a problem, go tell it to Joey Zargo after Casey Swiderski broke his face on a blast double. Then, Desanto tried a semi-committed shot with 2:26 left in the 2nd. Five seconds later the ref got on Desanto for passivity. I could see if the ref did it at 2:27 after the Azerbaijani wrestler had shot a couple times, but right after Desanto shot? What the what? Looks like it was an excuse to be able to put him on the clock later. But I also don't understand where Desanto got that last point. Got the singlet grab for the second point, with D.Dennis yelling it was the 4th time, and the step out for the third point. Was the fourth from fleeing? If so, why didn't they put they other guy down?
Freestyle is a great concept would be so much better if passivity wasnt so subjective, how do you hit AD he was active and shooting the whole match, makes 0 sense. Also dont understand the final two points given there, obvious AD's coaches knew.
0:20 Raza snaps Desanto very hard then the red warns Desanto for snapping too hard 1:47 didn’t give Desanto his 2 2:29 literally blows the whistle for nothing 2:37 blows the whistle again for potential dangerous even tho it wasn’t 4:36 blew the whistle again for no reason as Desanto is going for a blast double 8:13 blew the whistle again for no reason Any more you see reply, the ref was garbage. Also I know the grabbing on the singlet at the end he didn’t see.
Im new to wrestling. How many times are you aloud to smack a guy across the head after the whistle? Seems like this was an amped up match that the official lost control of right away...
Frustrating match to watch in my opinion. Seemed like the ref was quick with the whistle, often for no reason. Not sure a lot of time what he was calling for to change. Also strange seeing Desanto not pulling this guy around as much. Barely any time on that tricep grip that he favors. Not sure if that was a factor in him appearing to struggle to get to his offense. This match definitely highlights everything i think is inferior about freestyle.
This ref was making weird stoppages... I think he may have been intimidated with the physicality... Or maybe he was constantly being yelled at and couldn't take it... But lots of odd stoppages without signaling the reason.
What’s with them throwing a rubix cube onto the mat. You couldn’t pay me enough to sit thr and watch this sport for a day. The whistle, everybody screaming not knowing what’s going on
He got a passivity point. Passive wrestler gets put on the shot clock and has one minute to score or give up a piont. Basically freestyle version of stall calls.
