PRINCETON, NJ - The Princeton wrestling team will hold its intrasquad meet this Saturday, October 21st in the wrestling room on Jadwin E level before the football game against Harvard. This meet will give fans the opportunity to see the Tiger wrestlers in action as they get ready for their approaching 2023-2024 season. The meet will mark the first event of the season under new head coach Joe Dubuque.
"This is our first opportunity to put the brand on display for alumni, family and fans," said head coach Joe Dubuque. "If we bring the same energy tomorrow that we've had the past 4 weeks then it's going to be a great event with great wrestling"
The competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the football game set to start at 1 p.m. Fans will need a ticket to the Harvard football game to enter. Wrestling season ticket holders will be allowed admittance into Saturday's meet along with all eight 2023-24 home duals. Personally if losing a wrestle off I’m taking time to rebuild. I wouldn’t be trying to compete but I would try to develop for that year because let’s just be honest if you get the crap beaten out of you, it’s very unlikely that you will beat that same person in a couple of short weeks after. Just my personal take.
@somerandomguythatlikesmeme7396
@somerandomguythatlikesmeme7396 6 месяцев назад
Y’know, I see your point, but I also feel like, why not just re-challenge? I mean, a wrestling match takes like 7 minutes tops (college regulation). Why not focus on rebuilding AND wrestle off again just because?
@danieldecristofaro4227
@danieldecristofaro4227 6 месяцев назад
@@somerandomguythatlikesmeme7396 If it’s a close match then yes rematch him in like a month/same year. If your getting blown out by a lot of points or getting pinned in a quick amount of time then you should be focusing on rebuilding your mental strength and technique until the next year to try again. If your getting blown out by someone, then you will have no shot in beating them in a short amount of time later. Let’s just say you get teched 15-0. It’s only logical that your not beating someone in the same year if they teched you 15-0 during the wrestle off. Of course outside of practice you should be focusing on your lifting and cardio regardless losing or not.

Love wrestling but everytime I watch or step out onto the mat I get hella nervous
@michaelmaloskyjr
@michaelmaloskyjr 6 месяцев назад
Been there. Feels like the whole world's suddenly collapsing all around the mat like a fisheye lens. Try this: Think of the match as just more practice to have fun trying a move you're working out. When your head is somewhere specific, you tend to have more air in your lungs, less crushing nerves. Look at the BJJ guys and how relaxed they are before bowing -- it's a just physical puzzle you're trying to solve (and maybe score a few points along the way) so just trust your body's automatic responses from the hours and hours of practice. Then every so often during the match, get a quick "sitrep" and adjust. There's no reason to panic; if someone's got a better counter, faster or stronger -- oh well, nothing to change that in one day. And again, try to have fun (like many Penn St. wrestlers like to say). Ultimately, your goal is no-think, all-body, get out of your head flow, continuously moving, working toward positions you know and feel comfortable.

Why do wrestlers accept the bottom position like at 7.34 and 8.58? I'm not from America but I watch a bit and can't figure it out

i haven't wrestled since 2014 but I thought take downs were only 2 points, did that get changed?
@DespisiveDerp
@DespisiveDerp Месяц назад
Yes, they’re now 3 point takedowns in college. There’s been a lot of collegiate rule changes since 2014. For instance, back points are now 4 points with a 4 count 3 points with a 3 count and 2 points with a 2 count. There’s other small things that have been added like reaction time, how control is defined for takedowns, and danger points
