Today was such a fun and happy day! I brought home a bassinet for our baby, only for Austin to absolutely hate it! Which is absolutely hilarious, and I can see where he's coming from. On top of that, Paige makes an adorable little triceratops 'movie', the girls play in the snow, and we go for a drive to see our old house that we sold! We wanted to see if our new house gets loads more snow than our old house, or if it's just coincidence due to the weather dropping more snow! All in all, today was so simple, yet so highly enjoyable. The girls also enjoyed a bit of their favorite Christmas tunes while we looked at decorated yards. So fun! Buying pre owned items for baby is not a bad thing. I think a lot of people are overreacting or being not reasonable, however if you feel like it’s not suitable that’s your call- and the girls would love to continue using it for play!

They grow out of it so fast it makes no sense to spend a fortune on new clothes. Until there older and can wear them for longer . Both of my kids started out with almost all second hand clothes some were bought from a baby discount store. That money could go to diapers or wipes also I had the same bassinet and it was amazing I paid 80 for mine so

I love the back and forth banter of the bassinet 😂! I would just check it’s expiration date and make sure it hasn’t been recalled and it’s still safe for baby since Guidelines on SIDS change over the years! I would also check the sturdiness of it just in case the girls want to look in on baby boy and if they pull on the sides you don’t want the bassinet to fall over with him in it. Just a few tips!😊

Jess, I 100% understand your logic and was right there with you the whole time when you were talking about the bassinet. I think it was a great deal to be able to get something in good condition for free that isn’t going to be your primary one so it doesn’t have to be perfect…. And then I was laughing so hard when Austin said “do you know how expensive an exorcism is” but I totally support you saving some money where you can! ❤️😃

Be very careful with that pressure on your cervix thing. I felt that in my 4th pregnancy and casually mentioned it to my doctor and turns out I was 75% effaced and was put on bedrest so that I didn’t end up in pre mature labor. So don’t ignore it. Just some advice from a mom of five.😊

I noticed that Paige is sitting forward in her car seat now. She's a big girl now. 👧 I can't believe how well Paige can say some words at her age....Triceratops!? 🦖 I love how Micah was teaching Paige the little "Snug as a bug in a rug". She is such an amazing big sister. 👧❤👩

I'm with Jess on the bassinet. In reality, how often is he gonna be in it? Assuming you want to constantly hold the baby, he's probably not gonna be in it a bunch. Plus there is two of you there so if one can't hold the baby for whatever reason you could probably just switch off then obviously there is the off chance you can't and you use the bassinet. Realistically, the baby probably won't be in it that much. I do not mean this in a mean way what so ever but I have to say it, Austin if you don't like it don't use it 😂. Little kids as you know can be unpredictable sometimes.

In the UK we call them Moses baskets and nearly everyone has one for first few weeks after birth either to put by bed for sleeping or to leave downstairs. Are they that uncommon in the states? Lol 😂

My son and I get a new ornament for the tree every year, and we write the year on it so we can keep up with the year we got it. We love the s'more ornament, so it has been a s'more ornament almost every year. And if we can find one that fits, it usually has something to do with that year, or something that is special to us. For example, the year my son was playing soccer, we found a s'more playing soccer.

I had my baby shower Saturday and I need to buy so much stuff!😭 I have no bottles, 1pack newborn diapers, need newborn clothes, socks, mittens, pants lol and more. I’m barely 32 weeks so hopefully I can go shopping this week😂 cause this baby is putting so much pressure in my cervix OMG. It’s hard to walk sometimes! l live in the uk and we still use that style all the time i like it it works its in great condition if you don't like the colour or style take off the cover and hood it should come off

I am TOTALLY on Team Jess about the free bassinet!!! I can’t believe how great shape it was in for free!!!! Hey Austin, your little boy will not be in that “possessed” bassinet long!!! Ha. It is a TERRIFIC idea to have that bassinet on your main floor or to take with you while you film. You probably will LOVE it sooo much that when he grows out of it, you will want a larger one!!! Well dang!!! Mom fail for sure here! This is what I used for 3 out of 4 babies. My 3 youngest used a Noah's Ark bassinet similar to this. (19, 15, & 10) it was used maybe 3-4 months each time and it actually still looks new. It was special so I decided I'd save for grandbabies. Thanks Austin for crushing my dreams. Lol 😂

My first son was cozied up close to my cervix pretty much the entire time. I had what was referred to as Lightning crotch quite frequently since mid-late second trimester. He was also super chill. I knew he was head down by feeling his hiccups down below every so often. My second son moved around a lot and could never tell how he was positioned until he kicked me. Funny how their activity in the womb kind of predicts how they are outside. My second is reserved and cautious and my second is outgoing and busy. Their upbringing had a play in that: my first was born in 2019. He’s the true pandemic baby. Things are a lot more relaxed since my second was born (2021).

I try to buy as much gently used things as I can when I’m pregnant bcuz honestly you know how baby stuff is, it gets used a couple times or for a few months and then they outgrow it, so it’s almost always still in good condition, and I’d rather not spend $180+ on one thing that they will need for like six months lol and there’s SO MUCH baby gear we use that I’d for sure go broke buying it all new. I had the same bassinet for my first and second and honestly really liked it bcuz it’s so lightweight and simple and easy to use and clean. Not my style, but it worked and that’s all I cared about 🤷🏼‍♀️

All royal children sleep in those kind of bassinets until they go into a crib. And their bassinets are more frilly and lace. Never seen snow in person, only in movies and tv shows. Don't get snow in Perth ,Australia . Beyond our hills we have the outback.💕💕💕💕💕🇦🇺

All 3 of my kids had new and slightly used items. Very cost effective. This was 40 yrs ago. Babies don't stay small very long so paying full price for items that will be needed only a few months makes no sense. Recycle.

I agree with Austin on the Bassinet 😂. It looks like something left in the shrine for a dead child back in the 1920s. If you want to keep it you can reupholster it or at least remove the extra fabric. Less for Paige and Micah to grab and pull on.

No offense Jess, but I have to go with Austin on this one, that's a scary bassinette for lots of reasons, the number one being it looks exactly like the one I had for my daughter almost 33 years ago, it just may not be safe. Can you get caffeine free tea over there? My kids loved it. All of mine hated milk so the only way I could get milk into them, was filling a cup 3/4 milk, then 1/4 hot water and literally showing it the tea bag, no sugar or sweetner really weak tea. All three drank it. I’m not even sure you have teabags over there so you? When I was last there it was all loose leaf

We also lived in a multi level house when we brought our newborn home. We setup an area downstairs for him so we wouldn’t have to run upstairs and it was the best thing. We had a pack-n-play with the changing table and bassinet attachment setup 24/7. We also had a small book shelf that we put cubes in with clothes, diapers, wipes, etc. Not having to do the stairs every time he needed something was so nice.

Pre owned items are the best! Friends of mine gave me so much stuff including a bassinet for my child I pretty much didn't have to buy my kid anything for 2 yrs and I also bought stuff off the Facebook marketplace and I also like to thrift store shop it's where I get a lot of my kids clothes I mean babies and kids grow out of items and clothing so fast that to me it's not worth buying some items new... I mean socks and underwear and personal items things that go in babies mouth yes buy new ... but clothes some toys and most baby items I'd rather get used

truly, baby sleeps in it for a few months tops, you're point about having an option for baby on each level is valid, and the baby will not care what anything looks like...all the frills and appearances are solely for the big folk! Free...it's perfect, or at least can be with a little finessing.

I highly recommend if you are buying a home with a septic tank, make sure your home owners insurance covers the system. Ours did not. Last year we had to spend over 30 thousand dollars when our septic system collapsed. They had to redo the entire system, our insurance told us that its not covered under our home owners insurance. When i asked why , i was told its just not.

I still 100% side with Austin. I love you Jess but I still have to side with Ashton on this one. That bassinet is creepy and it’s gonna take that one time that you come downstairs while it’s still dark. You don’t realize that there is a doll in it and it creeps you out and then it’ll be gone but that feeling will never go away or it has moved in the middle of the night and it creeps you out. I’m just waiting for it.

I actually got that exact same style of bassinet as a hand me down from a friend when I had my second baby. I didn’t end up using it, but I try to get most of my baby gear gently used because we only end up using most of it for a few months anyway, and things like bassinets, swings and exersaucers cost so much new. Why pay more when you can get it cheap or free and keep another thing out of the landfills?

Have you compared videos from your first two pregnancies at this point that you are now to see how different you look? I'm sure you can find some where you are standing to the side to compare them side by side by side. It would definitely be interesting to see all there next to each other. I can't remember how you looked back then but you certainly do look like you are carrying low.

I love the bassinet. I had one like it my grandson had one like it. It was great for him. He was a preemie and had jaundice and we could set him in the window in the bassinet. You can get adifferent cover and take the hood off. Having something downstairs will be great for you and baby boy.

Austin really there is nothing wrong with the Bassinet, it's free and not broke. Be thankful that someone gave it free. If it was broke you would see it but I'm sure no one is going to put it out for free if it was broke so just be thankful ok. Love all of you.

I agree with Jess! The bassinet is fine. It’s not 100 years old or anything like that. Babies are expensive and you don’t need the bassinets all that long. Use it and pass it on.

I think your idea of having various safe beds in the three different floors for the baby is a great idea. I understand why you would not want to spend a lot of money on 3 different beds for baby. Having to carry baby plus all his needs up and down the stairs every time you changed rooms would be a pain. If Austin is unhappy with your choice let him buy/choose one and you get the other two. The girls I am sure would love using the one Austin hates in their playroom. Get as much rest as you can before baby comes.

I think the free bassinet for the lower floors was a great find. Maybe dress it down with dinos, zoo animals, trains/cars instead of lace for the little prince 🤴.

There is nothing wrong with second hand baby stuff. Especially stuff that your only going to need for a few months. I think for a extra place to put bay down that not on the floor is a great idea. Yeah it may not be the nicest but it was free. Free is always nice when it comes to getting stuff for baby.

Jess your right we used those bassinets with our twins a few years ago they were great 👍 not haunted at all. Kids turned out fine don’t worry Austin!….😅. The bassinet was great to have in the living room for the babies to nap in while we washed bottles and stuff or while we ate and stuff, basically when we needed our arms free with twins it was a necessity.

For the amount of time you will use it for, I think its just fine. Some people can't afford brand new items and if this does the job then I don't see the problem.
