I think a lot of Aussies are supporting (through views, engagement and requests) the chance to show the world what the international record labels missed or failed to promote.

Its a song about drug addiction. The gun is the needle. Catching the Manly ferry to Kings Cross to score as others are going to work. The early morning wrestle is fighting the addiction each day. Scott was an Antarctic explorer who lead a fatal expedition. Burke and Wills were Australian explorers who perished in the outback after missing a rescue party by mere hours. The point being they are beyond help. The song is DEEEEP.

This is a great song to turn up loud while driving. A lot of the lyrics are about Sydney (as the Manly Ferry makes its way to Circular Quay) and Australian history. This was one of their last songs before the guitarist died of pneumonia.

@alanstrom2221
@alanstrom2221 Год назад
" Like a trackless tram, I'm Bondi bound " " Put it in the skillet and slap it all around " “Fall of Rome” not only has lyrics of genius, but the driving Rhythm Guitars, Bass and Drums makes this one of the best Aussie Rock songs in history. James Reyne is a National Treasure. I understand most of his lyrics, that's his style. Not every singer can have clear diction like the 3 Singers in STATUS QUO.

This song takes me back to days of my teen years hanging in Sydney city during the 80's, sitting down under the bridge contemplating life, the universe and everything. It stirs emotions that bring tears and smiles, regret and want for a time so long ago. As an 70/80's aussie girl, this was an amazing time to grow up.

I was in my early teens when James Reyne with Australian Crawl were around, and many years later, my brother played bass with him on tour. I met him once, too. This song has a meaning for many people from Australia of my age. I'd also suggest listening to Icehouse "I don't believe anymore". The saxophone is brilliant. I remember seeing them in concert when I was about 18. I met my wife while visiting the USA in the mid 1990s, and remember well explaining to her - since she asked - about the cultural and historical referrences of this song. She's a very proud Australain now, lying here on my lap asleep while I stroke her hair.

I loved this song from the first time I heard it. It was in September 1983 on Harbord Beach (when it was still known as Harbord Beach) in Sydney. Someone in a group of teenagers (then still called teenagers) next to our family had their transistor radio (yet another term that has lost currency) turned up loud. Today I can't hear _Reckless_ without being almost physically transported back to that time and that place.
