Sorry, but that English level raise is appropriate. I remember having studied a master's degree with people who had a poor English level and unfortunately, the lecturers had to reduce the level of teaching due to the constraints in communication. Teaming up with those guys was a challenge, I was surprised how some of them could not understand the basic lessons of the units and even that they were passed by the lecturers to avoid massive student failure. I felt cheated, hence, I did not go to the graduation ceremony as a way to complain about that situation. I feel that many people were coming to Australia only for PR and relying on their origin country communities to get jobs and even to cheat the system. I feel that there are many graduates who could not speak English well but they thrive thanks to their community network or connections. They work with their origin country folks forever. Looks like they would never integrate into the Australian culture and society because of language limitations.

I feel like this whole system is just so confusing that people don't realize how little their actual chance is to immigrate to Australia. I really hope that students will reconsider moving to Australia and spending all their money on this ridiculous education system. Only then the government might reflect on how they treat people. Very disappointed or should I say eye opening...
@ailsaustralia
@ailsaustralia 3 месяца назад
That will happen eventually as people realise the chances of getting PR becomes smaller
@estellebright2579
@estellebright2579 3 месяца назад
Ultimately it's because there are so many people working incredibly hard, sometimes just to get a student visa grant, and come to Australia trying to live here. Even if the chance is slim, people still want to give it a shot, unless Australian government literally ban student graduates to apply for PR directly (make 500 and 485 not eligible visa to apply for PR for example). DOHA knows all too well there's a never ending flow of people coming in, thus they want to pick and choose the people they want.

Yes yes, because nothing boosts an industry's profits quite like adding layers of complexity to something as simple as a pte test. Who knew that PTE could become a multi-billion-dollar industry just by tweaking expiration dates? PTE with different expiry like: Imagine if your headache medicine had three different expiration dates based on whether you were using it for a headache, a cold, or a fever. 😢 💸 Happy Easter All Cheers 🎉

While I am in full support of mass imposing 8503 (and I like the subtle hint using panda in the video) on visitor visas (at least 8503 can be waived in exceptional circumstances), I feel sorry for those people who are caught in between these waves of changes, such as needing to scramble for new IELTS test results (not everyone can just pay $400 and get the results they need in one go). At least Liberal kept the system relatively stable for several years rather than Labor changing the rules between yesterday and today with little notice. I know they want a migration reform but surely they could do much better than this.

I agree with increasing the language level at work and studies. It is very disrespectful, working with people saying "brotha... that one" all the time. In customer service, putting guys in call centers, unable to talk properly is the worst. Yes, of course there is room for learning, but do it before !

In my opinion they should raise the English level to competent English for student visas and 6.5 with minimum 6 for 485, and change the law so student visa applicant must submit satisfactory English results on lodging application. You are coming to an English speaking country. Speak a basic level of English before moving in.

Australia has welcomed 557,800 new immigrants since this time last year, and 1.4m since 2019. In a country of 26 million people, in the midst of a housing crisis, that's a titanic number. As inflation is not an issue that someone can just snap their fingers and fix, controlling population growth is the next best way to get cost of living under control. The largest source of population growth is immigration, of foreign nationals, coming to study, followed by foreign nationals coming to work. Only around a quarter have permanent relocation in mind. Limiting migration to only permanent migrants for around 5 years will give us breathing room to build more housing, and allow supply to eclipse demand by a more comfortable margin, thus bringing dwelling prices down. This guy owns a private immigration consultancy company, of course he'd spin this into a bad thing 😂
@MakeupFunAndMore1018
@MakeupFunAndMore1018 2 месяца назад
@fapoleon22 if that's the case - close intakes all together! Why lure the students in with fake promises and then add complexities just to get rid of them after cashing in all the money. Certainly, the story was woven differently by migration ministers when they wanted students to come in and study here. Granting longer post study visa, allowing to work more hours than usually permitted when businesses were not having staff, only to get rid of them by adding age limits? Tweaking expiry dates of English exams? Really? I am not questioning why we don't want more immigrants - the question is how are we "cheating" and "looting" them.

Jan 2023 huh. Finger crossed you will get your grant before the end of 2023-2024 FY. DOHA does seem to grant 491 slower than 189/190 for some reason despite their commitment otherwise. Mine lodged in Mar 2023 already got granted in Feb 2024, and that was a 190. With that being said, each case is assessed independently, so keep an eye on emails and phone calls (they have the right to call you and ask questions). I nearly missed mine before answering it, enabling my application to be allocated within this FY for processing.

Two details for the upcoming 192 visa. 1. Prospect applicant will have to pay $25 to enter the ballot. DOHA says this is to deter unscrupulous candidates abusing the system. ($25 isn’t that much in my opinion) 2. The applicant must have been born (supported with evidence) in any of those designated pacific island countries. This shuts down the chance of cheap springboard migration to Australia by obtaining those countries citizenship as a foreign national.

Hi Karl, The university's and school education in Australia is far behind other countries. If you had a PHD student from the Uk and one from Australia, im picking the UK student every time. I have worked 15 years in a university in the UK. im shocked on how poor education is here. I had a postdoc who got his PHD in Queensland University. What a joke he didnt understand basics lab skills that undergraduates are trained in. Too many students coming in to do the same courses is not a good thing. Classes are too big. You dont get the 1-2-1 with the lecture or postdoc that should be training you. You waste your money not getting the education you should be getting. University only cares about money, not the students. it's a business, and everyone who is applying should understand. A research group will have 2 to 3 PHD students, not 5 or 6, and the reason is that you get what you paid for. Expert training 1-2-1 and high-quality service.

It's absurd that students who have spent over two years studying in Australian universities and institutions must re-demonstrate their English proficiency. We've already proved our language skills before starting the course and then lived and studied in an English-speaking environment for two years. Yet, we're required to undergo the English proficiency test again when applying for temporary residency. Doesn't Australian immigration trust the quality of education in their own institutions? This English requirement feels like unnecessary hassle and a boon to English test-taking companies, profiting off international students' predicament. Let's be honest: you don't actually need a very good English to live and work in Australia. I've encountered numerous Australian permanent residents who aren't at all fluent in English but are successfully running businesses, working in government offices, and managing large organizations.

🤔You mentioned that there is no change between GTE and GS. But in GS "The GS requirement is intended to include students who, after studying in Australia, develop skills Australia needs and who then go on to apply for permanent residence." That is a major change. Have you missed it Karl?
@estellebright2579
@estellebright2579 3 месяца назад
That alone just removes the paradox of Australia inviting people who are former graduates for permanent residency despite GTE explicitly prohibit students from expressing as such, which makes little to no sense. Everything else on surface is the same hence the “no change” conclusion. You can ask other migration agents and they will very likely give you the same conclusion because in essence, they are the same minus that one change.
@estellebright2579
@estellebright2579 3 месяца назад
Also, that change has been broadcast over and over on multiple sources. Karl also talked about it before. Hardly considered a “miss”.

Believe it or not, it does, and I have experienced such decline countless times. (sometimes even on myself) Yes it seems like its a cash grab, but there's some justification to it, and I have to admit that taking English tests regularly is not necessarily bad.

Prior to all these changes, you still get to see on your issued visa by department of home affairs that it is “ a privilege” of them giving you a visa. However, when something becomes a privilege in the first instance, it means that, with or without your qualification of your requirements, you are at the mercy of the one giving you the privilege. …..if a garden is well invested upon, it naturally gravitates all kinds of butterflies, now the one who owns the garden is now selecting the kinds of butterflies they want to come into their garden and here we are complaining. I think the migration strategy should leave migrants to embark on a critical thinking on how to collectively boost the economy and quality of their nationalities. Happy Easter to everyone!

Students need to prove their English ability after studying two years of skill master courses … seems like they have studied here in Australia in their own country language…😅
@estellebright2579
@estellebright2579 3 месяца назад
with that being said, I cannot entirely agree on abandoning English test for recent graduates, for students from certain non-English speaking countries tend to group together and study together using, you guessed it, their native language rather than using English. Meanwhile, those students coming back to their home country are anticipated to have a level of English skills that they spent little time improving during the expensive study in Australia (degree + living expenses), attracting criticism.

IELTS valid for 1 year because idp IELTS/PTE (Australia based) will earn more money by number of attempts. Directly or indirectly, it is improving the Australian economy! They are looting the students. 😅

As they always have been, only just recently their attempt is more blatant. They know very well most students would come no matter what anyways, inc those with intention to become unlawful non-citizen after their arrival.

i don't think that English requirement is needed for a student who has just finished his studies in Australia...unbelievable
@estellebright2579
@estellebright2579 2 месяца назад
Yet I think needing the latest English test results is justified for I have seen quite a few examples during my study in USYD that students just work together using their own languages instead of English, after 2-4 years, since they barely use any English, they have a hard time finding a job matching their qualification, or even just going back home to do English related stuff.

What is clear is DOHA cannot grant more visas than the stipulated FY limits. What is not clear is if DOHA would adjust planning levels before it runs out to grant more 190, quietly or not. They did once back in Oct 2022 with announcement.

They just want money from students like why do they have to give the test after completion of their studies. They get commission from these tests and most money they make through students university. Government is dumb enough to do so. Even you need to get your degree accessed for that you must do a professional year or get a job in same department you worked in again for professional year you will have to pay. There is near to zero percent chance of getting a job until you have a pr even in required stream. These guidelines are dumb as the government making such rules.

As a previous international student myself, I like these changes. Those marks couldn't filter out the genuinely capable applicants out of millions. Especially PTE make it worse! Majority of the people who scores 6 or above in PTE cant even speak or write up to an IELTS 6 scorer! How is it fair? As an IELTS student I know how hard you have to try to score atleast a 6! And you should actually know English to pass it! PTE shouldnt be there to assess English! Also, it is bitter truth but majority of international students just want to pass to apply for PR not excel in their studies and these attitudes need to be changed. I've experienced it! And it makes me so frustrated! While a handful of students genuinely work hard to graduate and become the best versions of theirselves, majority of them dont even care about the studies! That is why I prefer these changes. The eules need to be strictened. The first step is to filter the genuine people when granting a visa. I am glad that atleast they are starting these changes.

Uhh not sure what do you mean by ID card unless you are asylum seekers (which you obviously not). The grant letter you receive + the passport used to apply the visa is enough to prove your permanent residency. Organisations may carry out a VEVO check if they want to. Also congrats for 3 months grant. This is what priority processing should look like. Shame everyone else cannot enjoy this speed.
