As Transylvania has a lot of different accents, what area would you say this is from? It reminds me of Banat but the "te" and "de" doesn't seem to become like the "ce" and "ge" of Bucharest. It could be from Crisana but then I don't think the "ne" should sound like a Spanish "ñe". And if it was from Maramures then the standard "ge" should probably be preserved. I guess it is an intermediate dialect or something from central Transylvania, but nothing in the linguistic material I have read seems to exactly match it.
@@aantony2001 The priest singing is from the city of Arad, thus Crișana, but you mix up some subdialectal traits and characteristics. His accent is just as an educated person from Arad-Oradea would have talked not even a half century ago, before the bland radio accent became widespread among the educated people. My teachers from Arad talked like this, some at least.
Reading up on Maximillian Josef's dealings in my native Mexico made me curious to find out more about the Austrian, later Austro-Hungarian Empire (especially with my enthusiasm for World War 1 and the period building up to it.) Safe to say I was not disappointed. Hoping the region's nations can pick themselves back up sometime!
Enthusiasm about WW1? Maybe you know the Great war channel? They did a weekly episode kind of news of WW1 100 years after it. Went on for as long as WW1 and had some very interesting insights. And then i can recommend 2 books: the sleepwalkers by Christopher Clarke. He's an australian historian and the book covers the lead up to WW1 in europe and bsically ends with the start of WW1. And "Isonzo" by John Schindler. A way more expensive book, but it covers the the whole war on the italian front in detail which is more or less "forgotten" outside of italy and austria and seldom covered.
This should be mutually intelligible to an Italian speaker within the Austrian Hungarian Empire it's the same way how a Slovak in Austria-Hungary can understand the polish version if their dialect is close to the Polish version of the same anthem. If you teleport yourself to Austria Hungary from 1867-1918 some languages within the Empire are mutually intelligible with each other
As a native Spanish speaker I highly doubt it, most romance languages like Portuguese, Spanish, Italian (although you could arguably classify the Italian dialects as different languages) , Sardinian, Catalonian, etc, are fairly mutually intelligible, but French and Romanian are significantly different from the rest, for example I myself can kind of sostain a conversation with an Italian or Portuguese, but definetively not with a French or Romanian speaking person, it's kind of like English with the rest of the germanic languages, and I think it also happens in Slavic languages if you compare the southern, eastern and western ones

Some words you can imagine (right or wrong) what they might mean. But "mutually intelligible" is too much to say!! Would be cool a show about an alternate WW1 where Austria-Hungary wins and becomes a multi-national federal state (kinda like Spain I guess). WW2 never happens and Europe is much more similar to pre-war Europe with monarchies and old tradition still present very much, and without the horrors of WW2 Europe never looses faith in itself and it's heritage.
I would love it. As far I know, Kaiser/King Karl thought about a federalism like this. Maybe even the bad feelings between Hungarians and Romanians would could have been over. How much better would it be to have a lot of friendly nations in Central Europe, who are different in language, but share a common understanding of European tradition and culture. Not this universal hate, which all nationalities do against each other.
@@Gergo77 Romanians don't really hate any nation... I mean we are afraid of Russia but besides that we're pretty chill and concerned with our own issues. But yeah it would have been cool to have a Federation of the Danube or sth like that!

As a Romanian from Moldova I find this hymn beautiful and for those who know a bit of history, the madness of the middle XIX national identity politics is very similar to identity politics we have today. A really great country was destroyed. We really have done a lot better with German/ Austrian, laws, politics, values, and administraton.
Why this was Austrian monarchy, all other nations inculding Hungarians and Romanians were equal in it, great Hungary is only a made up bullshit by extremists,that never truly existed in history, sorry, name me one Hungarian king who was not Habsburg and thus Austrian.

Asta-i perspectiva naționalistă. Uniformizare și asimilare s-a încercat doar câțiva ani înainte de căderea imperiului, fără rezultate concrete. Dacă le era atât de rău românilor pe vremea aia n-ar fi avut reprezentanți în parlamentele de la Budapesta și Viena. Bineînțeles, în Imperiu nu era democrație cum o înțelegem astăzi, și nici nu prea exista așa ceva pe vremea aia nicăieri în lume. În schimb, erau cultura și știința occidentală. De exemplu, cea mai mare editură ce publica cărți în limba română era la Budapesta. Naționaliștii tind să ignore lucrurile bune de pe vremea aia, deși le umbreau pe cele rele. Singurul conflict între națiuni a fost la 1848, cu atrocități de ambele părți (da, da, românii au masacrat și ei oameni nevinovați), în care au pierdut ambele părți, ulterior românii primindu-și drepturile cerute.
Romani din teritorile administrate de austria au trait mai bine decat cei din cele administrate de unguri , unguri erau problema si pentru croati , slovaci etc
