i know its an extra cost but could you not connect to an internet connection that is running a VPN. so say you are in europe you could load a VPN that shows you are connected in China. that would trick the tool to thinking you were in that region. Dont know if it would work but surely worth looking into for people already in this situation
AUTEL is an unethical company that takes advantage of its consumers. I acquired a maxisys pro in 2015 and had no reason to upgrade its software because it was compatible with all of my vehicles. A free update released an application that works like ransomware and installs a timer that prevents you from accessing the diagnostic part of the tool. Now, all I get is a “Software is not authorized!” message when I try to use the diagnostic part of my tool The only available option is to purchase an upgrade from Autel for $1400.00. Product knotting is illegal in the United States, and this corporation should be severely punished for what they're doing to their customers in order to create cash flow due to the recent lawsuit Autel settled.

Well as I see it. That is the biggest anti consumer move one can make. If I want to buy my tool in China and use it in the US, that should be my choice as a consumer and as my countries laws allow. Guess I'll have to be done with this company.
Hi curtis Im in the process of purchasing a autel im508 from an authorized autel online dealer, the dealer says it will work in my region (South Africa) shipping from China, they say it will have no ip blocking. Can i trust a authorized online dealer? Or will they also deceive buyers?
Before panic , another reason why diagnostics is locked is that someone had simply already tried it or it was demonstrated by a vendor the 10 times maximum it allows you to use the tool without going online and registering the unit. Unit was likely used the ten times reboxed or returned for a refund , then it got sold to another person that can no longer access the diagnostics. As unpleasant as that sounds getting something something that someone already used 10 times I be mad but not the end of the world. In that event (if it still looks to be in mint new condition) I would restart the unit click on settings, scroll to bottom , click on "About" Write down the serial number and register password and immediately call Autel support in the USA or region you live in and see if it has never been registered before , never been reported stolen, and qualifies for full USA support, just register it on line or just have support unlock it and get on with your working life, LOL
Yes i think you are right.Because autel cant decide from which distributor to buy from .so they lock it when they realised the device is not registered but being used.I could also be that,they want the device to be registered so that your days for updates/Upgrades starts counting

Hey Billy. I think its because some distributors were complaining that they were losing sales to online vendors . All you have to do is purchase locally and then their will be no confusion. But if you want to save money and buy at a cheaper price you can do it online but you just need to due your research. Just to let you know Launch started this tred years ago and it doesnt have as much special functions as the Autel ( I know this because some of the engineers I work with came from Launch and also most of my clients who have a Launch call me when the need more special functions) And there support is questionable based on what my clients tell me.

Hello I have a maxisys908. Some douchebag mechanic that worked for me dropped it and cracked the screen but the scanner still works for past 5 months. Now when I power up I can touch the bottom row of buttons n they will highlight but the lock button will not activate when touched. Do you have any suggestions ? Thank you

The simplest solution, do not buy from Autel. I am glad that I found out before the upgrade to an MaxiSys Elite. I bought mine direct from Autel and I have some sort of crap screen displayed now. Good thing I found this while looking for a place to place the order.
Autel doesnt sell directly to the public. I know which site your talking about because alot of people call me after they found out the truth but m y recommendation is to get consulted. This way you not only be able to get the right tool recomendation but a strategy thats tailored for you so you wont have an IP block experience. Its really difficult for the average mechanic to get any information on this tool.
I'm in Ireland and I just this week received my new Maxicom Mk908p from a Chinese seller on eBay and it's now registered and all the updates work ok no problems fantastic tool👍, but it was shipped from their London UK based warehouse
Some sellers are granted permission to sell in selected territories. It just that most people are only able to find out after they recieve the tool. Im glad everything worked out ok.

But with this problem, I decided to check local vendors in Africa but they don't have this device available as I checked their website (vendor is in South Africa btw). But you also did not mention this device in your blocked list or perhaps this device was released in 2020 and your video was in 2019. What do you recommend I do or should I buy from the US?

Hi my friend , I did a video on purchasing used tools. I think you should check it out before taking that route. Its more expensive and your only going to find out whats wrong with the unit after you purchase the unit. If you manage to get the serial you can call autel new york and see if its stolen or not.

I’ve had my Autel HT200 work since 2020. Now today it tells me my VCI box is locked. I clicked unlock and it apparently is under review? No clue what it means. I bought this at Walmart in 2020 no issues. You choose your vehicle and I was supposed to have unlimited access to my model. Now it won’t do anything and I even tried to pay and got charged and nothing happened other than now I’ll have to probably dispute it. Wonderful. I guess for 2 years at 25 a year it was okay but now it seems it won’t work. I have a VW Jetta. I have the “VolksWagen v2.12 expiry date (infinity symbol)”. I tried to buy the “VolksWagen CV” to see if it would force it to work. Device would always be blue or green and now gives a red light. What happened?

I bought an autel mx808 scanner in the United States, I took it to Mexico to do some work and the scan worked very well for the first day, then I made some adjustments and connected it to the internet and that was when it blocked. the message that appears on the screen is; This tool has been locked. It is not authorized to be used in this region . if you can please help me with this problem. Thank you
HI Miguel. Contact your supplier who you purchased it from. Hopefully they can assist you with the matter. ( Next time I would highly recommoned you notify the seller before hand what demographic you will be bringing your tool to work) This will prevent headaches in the future
Autel, Bosch, Snap-On and especially Matco/Launch love to hold scanner owners hostage. 😡 The best scanner for the home mechanic is a $20 generic code reader, Google, some elbow grease and common sense… 🤷🏽♀️

I bought a MX808 MaxiCheck for my dad while he was visiting me here in the US, now he is about to leave back to Central America/Honduras- I called AUTEL and said I can get the device authorized to be used in that country by paying them 20% of the amount I paid for the device… is this right? I just want to make sure this will work before paying $75 more dollars!
Did Autel say you have to pay them? Or do you have to pay the supplier? I could be wrong but usually who ever you purchased the tool from is responsible for unblocking the tool. The reason being is that sometimes people purchase from international sellers ( with out knowing) and I know autel new york wont touch tools purchased from international sellers. Maybe try contacting your seller and if they wont help then contact autel but give them your serial number to verify it it was sold by a us supplier or international.
if i paid cash money for a tool i expect to use it flawlessly anywhere in the world......autel is already pricey not everybody just an extra thousand bucks happen to be laying around...... @ curt fyi .....i know a few diy guys that will run circles around your mech guy......this is that beat around the bush, fine print, that what you didn't know, that i bought a ratchet that only goes one direction.

Hi Allen, I hope your doing well. I just wanted to respondeto this in efforts to clarify my postition and problem I am solving. This way the reader can determine whats important to them. First I would like to confirm that I am independant. Meaning I dont work for Autel. How ever I am autherized to sell their products . All the equipment I sell I literally come with the tool. This means my client is in the trenches and they dont know how to write a VIN number on a used module.. they can call me and Ill walk them through that procedure. Or if a client wants to establish new business relationships with a body shop for example.. and he or she has no experience in programming.. the can contact me and ill walk them through the process. Or if a client who works from home doesnt want to take their car to a dealer and want to really benfit from the tool by having a consultant that will handle the technical, software and hardware issues that can potentially cost a fortune. Then I would be a able to render those services. Now I dont know your business and I dont know what important to you but if you are only focused on the lowest price then in my opinion its the wrong way to buy a tool . Here is why: If you purchased the ms906bt online for 1200 USD. And a buddy of your purchased the same tool from me for 1800 USD... who do you think got a better deal? On the surface your thinking the cheaper price is the better option. But what you dont know is that your update cost are going to be over 2k in a couple of years.. VS my clients wont have to worry about update cost until year 5 on average. The question you need to find out is "what value am I recieving for paying for the higher price."If you pay the higher price but save 2000 to 3000 USD , and learn 3-5 high income skillsets then for some people who are able to look long term.. it might worith it. If wanting to benefit on the short term and want to deal with the higher cost later on with limited support, then you can continue on the route you are going. Lastly , I do agree with you that there are to many tools on are product line. But there are many diagnostic tool companies. It would be nice if there was if there was just 2-3 companies thats just not how it is. My point you have a bigger problem since you dont know the streanths and weaknesses of each tool from each company. Take Lauch for example: Great tool for general coverage but doesnt have as much special functions as the Autel. I know this because most of my clients own that model and complain about the special functions comparied to autel. Also some of the egineers at autel came from launch, so they are able to validate the pros, and cons of the launch to the autel. There is no way your able to get those insights until after you take the risk and purchase a tool with out being consulted properly. In summery , I dont mind you you voicing your opinion, I just would respect it more if you knew the facts in terms of my offering before allowing people make an educated decision.

I feel that most of them are legit but you dont now which is from an international supplier vs local. Also your not able to get sold information from the sellers. I get alot of calls from people who thought a function was on the tool because the amazon listing said it could do it . Just be carful and ask alot of questions

But if you want to continue to research yourself you can call Autel New York and they will give you a list of suppliers and then you can do your due dillegence yourself.

@@8power0 Hey 8Power. Ill make a recommendation that might be a better financial option. Have you considered the MS906BT? Reason I suggest this tool over the MK is because its will do exactly what the MK will do for less of the price. The only reason why some people consider the MS908 or the MK908 is to later add on the j2534 so they can do BMW and Benz programming from the tablet. If you choose this strategy your cost will be more since the j2534 is 1000 USD ( and remember when your doing programming for 98% of the vehicles you just use your laptop) With this in mind you can buy the MS906BT for 1800 and then later aquire a box. I recommend either getting the MS906BT or the MS908P ( if USA customer) or the MK908P if International. ( I do sell the MK MS908P to USA customers only because they have me to consult them. Autel US does not support this model)

@@zeusaluminium I actually have clients in your region who I sell and service... You should find out if they specialize in helping the clients with techincal / programming because it doesnt make financial sense to purchase an expensive tool with no over the shoulder training or support.

Hi Kien, you need to contact your seller and see if he can unblock it for you. Most sellers dont screen their customers so they might sell you a unit that is not for your region.

Im not 100 percent sure but I doubt. What I usually do in a consultation is inquire where the client will be working. This way I can send them the unit that will work in his region of choice. I dont know the process of the seller you chosing to purchase from but maybe you need to ask him. Just be careful because some of them dont have your best interst and they only care about the sale and not about serving. Good Luck

More I'm looking at it - more BS I see. Autel website clearly states there are 6 World regions for using the tool. One of them - North America. NOT USA OR CANADA. When I contacted one distributor - he says US tool will only work in USA, not in Canada. I'm really surprised that Autel manages to find customers if they doing sh*t like this. For me - if such thing comes in the beginning, I don't even want to know what will happen AFTER purchase. Bye-bye, Autel, fortunately, there are lots of other brands on the market, with great tools and more user-friendly marketing.
Autel support.eu and sales.eu are not even answer so I contacted few Europe dealers, answered Richter and Poland dealer only, but Richter got some stuffs at stock. He activated machine 1 day before paying.
