Hi when you say this tool has built in Wi-Fi is it the same as a Satnav device always connected or does it have to be in range of your Wi-Fi router and do all these scanners you test, all have built in Wi-Fi?
I bought my MK 808 in 2018 and they are still using the same hardware. Memory capacity and cpu speed haven't changed. I don't know wat they added as far as hardware to the scanner. I was told when I purchased it that it wasn't bidirectional which it is bidirectional from Autel. It's the software that limits its capabilities from Autel. This tool is capable of many more higher level functions but Autel is like nope purchase the 900 series to get the beast. I couldn't afford the one with the passthrough tool for firmware programming
Yo, Papi! How are you liking the Autel MK808S? Just got one for testing/review. I am just an avid DIYer that works in all my vehicles as much as I can. Sub'd!!
The Autel is good but if you watched the whole review there were moments of disappointment, look at this instead as it’s best I’ve tested and includes 3 years of updates ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QKNp2bFYcVI.htmlsi=yFRedTwCBvt0yLPn
Some sensor yes but the ecm you will need to step it up to a bigger scan tool, I like this one as it includes 3 years of updates ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nTninTEbdYA.htmlsi=Dwfa2BZDDvmiS6hD
Do you need to be online to used these kinda OBD Reader ? Do you need to have a wifi to used this ? Can you used this new from the box . ? What happens if you don't updates does this still work ? Is this capable of scanning Fuel Pressure test ? Is this capable of scanning compression test ?
yes after the first year. Here is one scan tool that includes lifetime updates and is bi directional ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mf5zDmiEpe8.html
It should still work after the updates but bi directional functions might be disabled. That’s why I have been recommending this instead ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QKNp2bFYcVI.htmlsi=cA3HqDII-sw3UlGK as it comes with three years and after 3 years it will still work but your won’t get any more updates which doesn’t affect the use of scan tool.
You Should see if it will access idle learn, HVAC mode door actuators, blower, windows, locks, Transmission shift solenoids, evap seal test with opening purge while reading ftp sensor. etc. Every module. Radio. Everything.
Autel mk808s , launch x431 crp919x , or topdon ? Thinking about buying it but what’s put me off is , for example topdon can recharge battery from car battery, screen record , built in browser , dont know to kuch about lunch yet . Which one you guys would consider from these 3 ?
@GeoBot_Gaming look at these two unit currently ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eO6eAkUjwHg.htmlsi=8B2QmjsDJRSqJ9ih ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QKNp2bFYcVI.htmlsi=U5rfHMI0uCLSWsgt
It's disappointing what a powerful scan tool like this is limited to. They won't let you access most dealer functions, and what they will let you access you have to pay annually for, even after purchasing the scanner.
Sadly, that’s the same as most big dollar scanners I have the Zeus by snap on and I’m blocked behind pay subscriptions. I don’t update I can’t access the subscriptions. It’s all a pay game. These aren’t as expensive as most of the software is though you have to look at it in a long time of things is it worth it or should you go more and buy the big dog and pay more
Yes, the throttle body is a pretty easy service function. I think you will like this unit even more ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QKNp2bFYcVI.htmlsi=ixvcJQnJ_VwTaPS9 As it includes 3 years of updates and if you don’t renew your unit will still work but you continue to release new updates. This is really big saving compared to Autel. Keep me posted on what you end up doing and to extra sure you can always even the vendor your vin number and ask for a list of supported features.
I have a 2019 V6 Charger & I lost my fob. I ordered the 808s but Will I be able to program a new key fob with it ? If so what kind of fob should I go buy?
It should. Has a list of all the sensors. But it also depends on make and model. I would just use a cheap handheld temperature reader on the transmission.
I believe on the Autel you do, but on xtool you don’t, but you will not get any updates. Which again for me is not a big deal as brand new vehicle seldom need a repair that needs to done asap. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QKNp2bFYcVI.htmlsi=rgelutzUqun2fj7d You can also email the vendor and ask. If you find out any different from I stated please let me know. Thanks 🙏
@@RANDOMFIX yah I just went with with mucar v07 or whatever it's called. Really good price and functions do not get disabled if I don't have an active subscription. Now let's see how it works with my mini/Honda/Lincoln cars.
Great video. I just bought this same one to do a throttle reset on a 2007 chevy hhr, but I don’t see a option to reset. When I get to services, throttle ect, it brings parameters on the status of the throttle position, pedal position, but I don’t see a reset. Am I on the wrong setting? Looks like it only shows what the throttle is doing live, but no reset.
Under $500 this best choice as it comes with three years of updates and it will still work if you don’t renew the service after the three years. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QKNp2bFYcVI.htmlsi=VBuqwYGotCY9H31J Enjoy
The vehicle runs the evap it’s test itself. You can not force a evap run but I have heard that it is possible for Porsche but I have not tried it. The video description of this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jldTJI64cfM.htmlsi=idtJeLawVLqg4Y3K and find your make and I provide the exact steps you need to set your evap monitor. This scan tool can help diagnose an issue with the evap system. Good luck and happy holidays
Hello, MaxiCOM MK808S could diagnose MB eclass w212 hybrid 2014, Peugeot 307 hdi 2004 and Opel Corsa D 2008? My own cars. Appreciate your opinion. Thanks.
Most Fords do not require a scan tool to put the epb in service mode. Simply turn on the ignition, step on the brake and gas pedal then Hold down on the epb switch all simultaneously . While doing this turn the ignition off then back on. When the yellow brake light comes on the dash you're now in servuce mode.
It depends on the vehicle and currently I think there is better units that you should consider ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VVfRnyKq8Cs.htmlsi=fJYcz48ZPLJYyVy2 But if you want Autel check out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eO6eAkUjwHg.htmlsi=6IJO2TqpFIGeBkDQ Just email the vendor your vin and ask for a list of supported features
This is one of the best scan tool I have tested and it came with 3 years of updates. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QKNp2bFYcVI.htmlsi=0edhHAn_OPXWDChh If you want Autel go with this as it’s powered by Autel but came with 2 years of updates. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eO6eAkUjwHg.htmlsi=2KwwRDL-x3adavth Let me know which one you liked better and why after you view the videos. Thanks
Depending how new your car is this Autel mx808S is "Not" good I have the same unit I'm going to be sending it back for full refund pass if you have the chance.
Does the work with 4wd ecu? I was suggested this tool for that reason, butnim not seeing in their discription that it does that. Looking to purchase soon, but i need to known it does 4wd
You need to contact Autel , they will be able to answer your question but a 4wd ECU should be no different to a 2wd ECU as it’s still an ECU regardless of.
@@battlecore501 okay I believe from what I understand is Autel buy vehicles & reverse engineer the electronics I.e. extract information for their own research etc , to use on their scan tools & it could be the Tundra is not on their list maybe , TBH a lot of scan tools , even top models sometimes don’t read certain type of vehicles . Hope you find one for your Tundra 👋👍 While I think about it , it’s called a Hilux here in England as we have its sister pick up instead .
@@battlecore501 that’s good to hear mate , with vehicles ever getting more complex with electronics etc etc , you need a good scanner otherwise where do you start ? I’d be lost without mine as it’s my doctor ☺️🍻🙏🤝😀
This scanner has a really bad major drawback. No search function in live data. Some cars have 1000 different parameters and you have to roll throug all of them to find the right parameter. And then if u want to erase a fault code and go back to live data, you have to start over the browsing/rolling to find the right parameters again. Crazy annoying and the reason this tool only is for home use, or as a backup unit in the workshop.
For sorting and find live data? I would say most are the same other the search function and 4 data field’s monitoring vs 8. If you are looking for something like this then the d8s is good. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VVfRnyKq8Cs.htmlsi=oL9cZpVKreXeBZ8D
Did I understand you correctly, you said if we did not renew the service we will not be able to use the bidirectional functions? if yes how sure are you? thanks
That’s what I was told and on different unit I hear different things. I would email them and get in write if that is important to you. The Times I have had an Autel unit and I didn’t not renew my unit continued to operate but I just didn’t get any more updates. Let me know if need recommendations to a good substitute that use powered by Autel and I wireless for $320 and it includes two years of Autel updates.
thanks for your quick reply, actually this one is being delivered as we speak, an yes that would be a deal breaker for me if I lose the bidirectional, two function I'm mainly concerned for is to be able to do a rodeo test on BAC system in my mercedes, also being able to read ATF temp if I needed to replace ATF @@RANDOMFIX , as far as recommendation , I think I know what you're gonna say , is it ottofix? I did look into that one too but the lite one is in the $300 range the one that I want is in the $600's , or is it something else you had in mind? I got this Autel on amazon lightning deal for $383 BTW.
Yes, thank you for the not so kind feedback. I learned a long time ago that there are some people that will always complain. I’m not talking about of course. lol. Dude I get it, nothing is perfect including my big fat fingers. Didn’t I do a screen share on this video?
I'm going to be ordering the MK808s-ts for the added BT DLC conn and TPMS capabilities. Looks like an amazing tool! I was questioning exactly how "bi-directional" capable they actually were, as some manufacturers of these lower price range scan tools claim they are bi-directional but when actually put to use in the field, I often found that they were missing critical functions and control. Looking forward to adding one to my arsenal 💪😁
I tried the 2023 MX808S and the software for Honda has a lot to be desired. Graphing errors, PID data errors, features that they post as working but do not, etc. Bad software programming and quality control. That's what happens when you buy something produced in China. Autel support was also terrible. I returned it the unit. Better to buy from another vendor.
Thats a big NO!!! I own this MX808 which I purchased in 2018 from a vendor so I could get support. I was told by Autel that this is not a bidirectional tool. They ripped me off by only giving 10 months of updates instead of the advertised 1 year. There are better tools like Launch which can do bcm and other modules. Changing Vin's without the J2534 pass through tool for ecm programming
I have a BlueDriver. It shows around 12 possible causes for the engine light going on. Basically some type of exhaust leak, bad gas cap, sensor…. Does this testing unit do a better job of telling what is wrong? It would be nice if it tells me there is 1 or 2 things are wrong instead of 12.
Yes, you can do better with this unit as you can activate certain components to test it. I would clear the codes after writing everything down and then see which trouble codes come back. 12 problems is a lot and I normally see that many codes when a battery is bad or low.! You may also want to check this unit ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QKNp2bFYcVI.htmlsi=eZryKdi54IQq2kqC as it comes with 3 years of updates and is a better deal.
Hey will this code reset permanent DTC codes such as PO 430? The problems causing the code were fixed but i'd rather not drive the car. I prefer to reset the code with the scanner.
I’m not sure I have never worked on a Peugeot. I would check this out for the cheapest option ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FMVLoH5txOw.htmlsi=Fs_nqjuW0aW4myzI Just verify it works for your vehicle. Good luck 🍀 and keep me posted.
On the OBD2 side of the program it says ‘incomplete’ and on the OEM side it says ‘complete.’ Since the correct one is the former, then what is the point of having those OEM modules on there if they can’t give an accurate scan result? So basically, this is just an overpriced basic scanner with bi-directional capability. Good job Autel…I’ll look elsewhere.
Thanks your vidio is very good explaining and we have to give onor to the person that onor deserves and is you keep it up with. Your videos well explained you have on my end 100
I think was one year, check out this one instead as it’s powered by Autel and includes 3 years plugs it’s wireless and priced better. I just release this video this week ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ofiXkvw7H9E.htmlsi=mAlG0TxD1RsymvdD
This function would be normally under the throttle relearn, as the accelerator pedal values are used to determine the throttle. I show it in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BnVkrsvtIlo.htmlsi=rqvON8MDsONfZCPY but the autel unit should have it too.
just hotspot your mobile phone and then you connect your scan tool to wifi signal that your phone creates. google "how to hotspot your phone" or youtube
Thanks Answered most of my questions. Main question was can you still use the scanner even if you do not want to update to new model years (You said YES in the video). Is their a list of what makes/models this scanner covers?
Thank you this video was very informative..I ordered this scanner as a birthday gift to myself I can't wait to try it on my 2003 dodge caravan..I 've been having to many issues getting it to pass smog & with the full diagnostic on this scanner..I will finally find out what the problem is..getting it delivered sometime today 😀
Happy birthday and I took have a dodge caravan. Let me know if you need with your smog and here is the drive cycle for your caravan ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dyYv4HpYPys.htmlsi=RY0IZDuXZJCKU3fZ And here is a little trick to see if the monitors are ready without a scan tool ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O1RH-u1bNIc.htmlsi=UasEoWqYgRqDKiVd Keep me posted on what you find and what was the issue.
@@gottahavegoalsset yes I did order an aftermarket one & waiting for it.. I should have it by next Monday.. I made sure to give the information.. Miles & vin number..& yes I am planning to put it on myself.. I have seen enough videos here on youtube..& even got me a tool set so I am ready ..I don't think they sell new ones unless you have a fat bank account & have no issue with a dealership🙄..so just have. ..to wait..
After testing more scan tools using this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QKNp2bFYcVI.htmlsi=wbUCJG3KXMtblIVH It can adjust km on dodge but not on my Toyota. As I have the Toyota Prius but it works for older Camry vehicles.
@@RANDOMFIX You mean if we don't renew we can no longer access the bidirectional functions when we first bought it? Or, you meant just the new bidirectional features that may come with the new updates. Thanks.
Not an expert but, I have yet to see any scanner that doesn't have a yearly subscription. But usually the scanners only need the subscription to update the device for newer models. So you don't really need to buy the subscription unless the car you are scanning is newer than whatever the latest model the device has.
