Originally, I was going to film a video about food available at the Galle Face Green area, but it started storming, so I had to seek an alternative. Vietnamese food in Sri Lanka! Hey, Kyle, Tet 2017 is on January 19. It's the year of the Rooster. It would be cool to show the exposition of all the pretty flowers up and down Nguyen Hue Street......AND....show the architecture of all of the buildings up and down Nguyen Hue Street along with the Ball with all of the clocks on it in the middle of Nguyen Hue Street. I love that street!!! Thanks!

Good to know there are viets in Sri Lanka too. Viets are like the Jewish ppl, spread out all over the world, very resilient like you said, and very successful ppl too.

Yeah their stories of how they ended in Sri Lanka would be interesting to me. Kyle, hope you can go to Russia and film the viets there. The stories I heard that Russian police are abusive to the viets there. It's much harder for viets living there. It would be great if you can dig more into the situation.

One of the best bowls of pho I had was in Lisbon, Portugal. But the fact that the employees in front of the house spoke only Chinese was really strange because of how good it was.

Kyle - I believe both North and South use rice paper for the chả giò. The crispy one (like the Chinese wrapping that you are referring to) is something that overseas Vietnamese use when they first came to the States as the rice paper were not readily available. Prior to my coming to the States in 1975, all I knew was chả giò with the real rice paper.

Looks like Vietnamese can be found across the globe. I was able to locate two Vietnamese pho restaurants while vacationing in Italy.

Lots of refugees created after the world sending them to all parts of the world. Same like happening now in Europe. Well for the children born in other countries they get to experience another culture that they might never had so that is one positive.

+Dennis Brooks the thing about label mics is that on my camera I can only have one and so my guest or friends can't be heard unless they stand next to me. Sonny has a great camera that allows for multiple mics and he is by far the better host and videographer.

It not the use or lack of lapel microphones. Usually I can hear Kyle and his friends clearly and the background banter is much softer. The other group in the restaurant were loud. They probably had too much to drink and don't realise how loud they were. It's not pleasant when other groups in resturants are loud and overpower you and your friends being able to hear each other.

In need of a bit of Comfort Food, eh? Not a biggie, though if you do it too much it is the equivalent of an American traveling to a bunch of foreign countries and only eating in American Brand Fast Food places. Where's the adventure in that?

Maybe you traveled to a country where you dont like the local food? maybe you have children and don't want to risk street food on them? or maybe you just like feeling proud that your people and their food have migrated across oceans? Every situation is different.
