In this session, we provide an overview of Autodesk Hydraflow Storm Sewers functionality, workflows, and settings. We will demonstrate the procedures for exporting gravity networks from Autodesk Civil 3D into Hydraflow, performing hydrological and hydraulic analysis in Hydraflow, and exporting the completed design back into Civil 3D.

Can you show the HGL in your civil 3D profiles? If so, how is that done? Thanks!

We asked the experts they said that the information you're looking for is covered here: Autodesk Civil 3D Help | About Hydraulic Property Data For Autodesk Civil 3D Pipe Networks | Autodesk help.autodesk.com/view/CIV3D/2023/ENU/?guid=GUID-F9937BDD-1864-4985-9BCC-DCA9FC4AC218

C3D has the structure inputs for road long slope, cross slope, and gutter slope, but I have not found a way to get them to import to Storm Sewers despite finding ways to connect grate dimensions, inlet type, catchment areas, and C-values to structures and have them import to Hydraflow Storm Sewers perfectly. I know this doesn't follow the workflow of the video, but is there a way to do it?

Per our experts: Those settings are used by Analyze Gravity Network within Civil 3D, they do not export to Hydraflow Storm Sewers. I would recommend looking into the Analyze Gravity Network tool because it is very similar and does not require import/export. Here is a video to that tool: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NZj0kuxdQrI.html

@@imaginittech thanks for the response. Is there anyone working on making these properties exportable to Hydraflow and vice versa? It would make the iterative process of going back and forth from C3D to Hydraflow 100x easier. It seems like this would be an easy fix since other properties like catchment areas and coefficients are easy to import/export

@@williammcbrayer9956 You'd need to talk to Autodesk about that, maybe put it on the feature request lists. knowledge.autodesk.com/support/civil-3d/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-raise-a-product-enhancement-request-for-Civil-3D.html

I have the original design parameters for my subdivision and want to find out what its maximum flow capability is. The original calcs were done with Hydroflow in 1993. How can I get this done ? Thanks

Thanks for reaching out to us. I checked in with our experts, they noted this is a pretty complicated answer best discussed directly. If you want to do that, feel free to visit www.imaginit.com and hit the Contact Us form.

I have set my Feature Settings to match what is shown in the dialog box at 15:33, but when I import back into Civil 3D and update my network, it is swapping the part size for structures from a 10'x4' to a 4'x4' instead of keeping them the same as they were when exported. I made no structure size changes in Storm Sewers... I just ran an analysis and adjusted a pipe size and grade. Any ideas? Thanks!

We asked our experts, here's what they said: The tool is not designed to respect structure sizes. For the same structure type, it just swaps everything back to the default for that structure.

@@imaginittech Well this goes directly against what I (and I would assume pretty much everyone) would need it to do. It makes no sense for us to size these structures to accept certain pipe sizes, and then have all the structures get re-sized upon import. Frustrating...

@@tjbrace3654 I sent your note to our experts. While Autodesk makes the software (not IMAGINiT) our team noted we don't have the ability to make that change (though you can suggest it to Autodesk). They also recommended you consider looking at SSA (Storm and Sanitary Analysis) and InfoDrainage as options to help you do what you need to. If you want help from our experts, head over to our site and hit Contact Us to get the process rolling.
