Scenes from ABC's AUTOMAN, a sci-fi/comedy/cop show that aired in 1983 and 1984 starring Desi Arnaz, Jr. and Chuck Wagner, later resurrected on the Sci-Fi Channel. The show was produced by Glen Larson.
I loved Automan when I was a kid. I was 6 when I first watched it, then totally forgot about it, then discovered it again a couple of years ago. I was as happy as a 6-year-old!
Tommy Sasaki They did a very impressive job with that suit! I was surprised years later to find out he had worn an actual suit. I thought it might have been made with blue screen effects. I am not sure how they made the suit but you do not see effects like that these days. I loved this show as a kid.It was such a short lived series. I was upset when it was canceled. I never got to see the last episode. The series just left the air. I was bummed out by it.
I loved to watch this Tv series back in 1986 while I was a little kid and I have never eaten my dinner not watching Automan !!! You been a childhood hero of mine !!! Thanks for sharing my long lost tv shows which I always wanted to watch again & again !!!
Mary Ellen Peterson, this adorable series is available on DVD. I found a copy for my son (an avid Automan fan for 22 years, now) at a local pawn shop. I am giving it to him as a surprise gift. You can order the series online on eBay or at Amazon.
you can just order it on line Though Amazon i did last years 2019 as well as Street Hawk and incredible hulk ALF and MIND YOUR LANGUAGE i ordered all 5 of them at once because you will never find any of these programs in any DVD stores in todays world some of the owners just look at you and say I've never heard of it or just look at you really silly.
I don't remember cursor drawing a motorcycle for him to ride, guess I missed that episode, also don't remember him driving his car in the daytime, usually it was always at night when most people were asleep to conserve power.
I remember as a 6 year old buying an automan paint overall at school, I was utterly thrilled. I must say the visuals hold up well for the show, automan has a really cool look.
So Battlestar Galactica's Glen Larsen headed up AUTOMAN. I completely missed this 1 year series. Desi Arnaz Jr and my long time favorite Robert Lansing from 12 O'clock High and others. So satisfying.
I was eight when this came out in the UK. I loved it. Having just watched these clips now, though. I'll not be reminiscing any more. That was horrendous!
I used to draw automan on the back of my school papers..My teachers always commented on what a good artist i was..great memories..this show was awesome!-gary/texas
I remember when this show came on. I was 15. I didn't know why he called that thing cursor back then. I didn't know what a cursor was. Lol! I loved the show though... The way cursor created what he needed looked so cool to me at the time.
Reminds me of the Quantum Leap show, TRON, Midnight Rider, MacGyver, The A-Team with Mr-T, and many others. Retro 80's fully. This was sci-fi back then, and some fictions are now true. I wonder what the future technologies hold in store. We are advancing at an exponential rate on big tech highway .
Agents usually take 10-20% commission when they get paying jobs for the people they represent. Essentially, the joke was how agents suck the money out of their clients.
Automan the Sci-Fi superhero series was way ahead of time in 80s era. Besides the protagonist Automan, even a suit,a car and a helicopter can be created out of a computer at random....in reality such fictional technology would put 3D printing to shame.
Man it bring memories as a kid I remember that show. I remember keeping up with all episodes I think on Monday or Friday then all of sudden they took it took it off air. Remember arguing with classmates in elementary who was best auto man car or knight rider. Lol.
@@francisshortjr computer like I have right now and I have a curser called an arrow and it will click and little bit different than this movie we watch and because curser and automan will come alive and you will ask Chuck Wagner ok
Thanks for uploading this. with the latest TRON movie out also, It'd be all too cool if Automan were to make a comeback. Not to mention the latest upgrades in computers these days. Got to be somebody out there to propose it though....otherwise it'd fall back to nostalgia.
Shoutout to those watching this in 2022! 😀 Imagine what they could do with this shows concept with today's CGI and tech! Or the fact that we've got 3D printers today making things from human organs to liveable houses!
Automan,Airwolf. The Highway man.lot other movies our childhood timw we see but now a days never ever see these kind of movie ever make such a fantastic era of 80s n 90s movie
I'm searching for this many years, because I don't remembered name and nothing from show, only light cursor (but in my head was name "oskar"), today I found it! 40 years ago I see it in german TV (and I don't speak german).
I was quite young when he came to my country on Sundays and later in afternoon sessions. But seriously, the opening theme used here was soooo much better than the original. The scene of the guy upside down in the helicopter stuck in my memory.
This brings back surprising memories. I only say that because I was only 4 When this aired first run in 1983-84. But I remember it very clearly. And I have wanted to see it again forever. Sure it's cheesy and all, it was the 80s after all! But i enjoyed it then and now even as I'm 38 years old and the only person I know who remembers it. Think I even had a toy car that tied in with this show. Thanks for posting this Mr. Wagner.
Too bad that Automan and The Greatest American Hero never had a cross-over episode. I could imagine that these were in the same cinematic universe, the "Auto-verse", LOL.
For the brief time that we had it on the air, here in the UK, _'Automan'_ was my favourite tv show! I had a huge poster of *Automan* himself, right next to my bed; at bedtime I'd lay there imagining adventures that *Automan* & I would go on together… I also used to imagine that his body was a magical doorway to an outer-space dimension, but _shhh_ 🤫, that bit’s a secret 😉
gloria nav, Chuck Wagner is now an acting teacher at the University of West Florida, in Pensacola, as well as a big Broadway star. He appeared in Kiss Me Kate and many other productions including Beauty and the Beast ( playing the Beast opposite ex pop singer Debra Gibson, as Belle.)
I will take any 80's TV show over any of the so called reality TV crap they produce these days. They at least tried to have a plot and do the best with the resources they had at their disposal at the time. Indeed.
That show was one of my favorites. A-team, Manimal, McGyver, and so many others. they were called "enlatados", I guess cause the films were kept in cans.
Damn I like to see a continue of this amazing show even a movie. Like the premise could be one of people they put away finally got out looking for revenge and got to Walter. Walter's kid could have stumbled on to Walter's notes on automan and brings automan back to life but makes him a older to fool people but it has to be chuck he made automan "come to life" with his personality.. Also automan could fight an evil hologram. Something like that just tossing ideas around . It would be amazing
Man! just look at all the money they spent on those lazers! Pew, pew pew! I was about 10 and don't ever recall this! It's a good thing. I was busy with Knight Rider and the A-Team. NBC the place to be!
