Melissa Rudolf, Manager, Business Development, at Beryl Mining Services Ltd., presents her talk "Automation and Telemetry in Geotechnical Performance Monitoring".
Abstract: This talk will introduce participants to the current real-world implementation of automation and telemetry (remote instrumentation) with respect to the performance management of large geotechnical structures. As companies move towards data-based decision-making, this presentation seeks to explain the processes used to extract, compile, and troubleshoot data coming from an automated geotechnical instrumentation system. Participants will be given an introduction to some real-world interfaces and systems that are used to manage fast-response geotechnical instrumentation systems.
Participants should leave with a head start in their understanding of some of the most valued and sought-after skills in the geotechnical engineering industry, as well as a networking opportunity.
Speaker Bio: Melissa Rudolf is registered under APEGA as a Professional Engineer and holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta. Ms. Rudolf has 15 years of experience in the mining and oil sands industries and has spent the last five years as a Governance Lead on Suncor’s Geotechnical Strategic & Closure team, primarily spearheading its $5M Automation & Telemetry initiative. She has a background in geotechnical design and performance monitoring of earth dams and containment structures, mine waste dumps, and pit walls. Her experience comes with a technical focus on instrumentation data management and digitization, and process and policy development.
