This video is misleading; should have left the ignition advance out of the picture and shown how little affect the learner mixture has on power..

Was the burnout cut from the final edit?

I'm actually curious about how well it stood in place making white smoke before the tuning.

How about a video on why we need the wideband meter and not just explain how a lean mixture produces more power. Or can anyone explain to me how this gauge would be a good addition to my cluster. Why do I need to monitor the mixture?

how about how lean melts everything in your motor smart .

I understand how a richer mix is safer, as the extra non burnt fuel acts a a cooler for the engine. Protecting from detonation. I don't see how the running leaner would add more power. Won't the engine still combust all the fuel it can anyways if the mixer is rich? Where is the extra power coming from? I understand the danger of running lean but I dont see how it adds more power. Better combustion over all? IE the extra fuel actually prevents some of the stoich mixer from burning?

Tell me why you would try make a performance car with a crapy ute platform other than better fuel economy?

Is this truck stock before you tune it? 10.5 seems to be too rich for a theses days.

All that just to do burn-outs? How bout before/after time slips?

i install the wideband (7374) but how I know that works good?

@tdawg719 rich is safe and cool, lean is powerful but dangerous and hot. When i was into nitro rc cars it was the same principle

I have 2 major issues with this marketing video. Firstly, I find it hard to believe that a factory tune on a vehicle of this vintage would have AFR bottom out a wideband (

if a lower number is richer, why do afr gauges the higher numbers marked "rich"???

some are marked using lambda .

***** So you don't know?

That's not the best comparison, considering nitro RC's don't have a separate oil system & thus directly get more or less oil depending on how rich or lean they're tuned. PS - don't reply to this from a phone/tablet etc, if you want me to actually see the message, lol (they don't work right with RU-vid's comment/notification system)

i have a good answer, one of the pipe tread plugs in my aem fuel pressure regulator wasnt torqued all the way and started leaking ever so slightly, when i first installed it and set the pressure level it wasnt leaking, i was drivin hard and i noticed the engine was runnin a bit different and that my AFR was goin over 14 nearly 15 sometimes on wide open throttle. when i first set it it was to 46 psi at 800 rpm idle, i checked and it was down to 37 psi at idle, tightened plug and fuel pressure came back up. if it runs too lean you lean out your engine and boom. all that said if you have a stock engine on stock ecu theres no need, the stock o2 sensor should do its job just fine, and if it does go wrong you should get a check engine light for it. im runnin a built engine on aftermarket ecu and it had lean protection but i didnt have it set up yet, after that incident i set up the lean protection lol
