Up for sale is my 1977 C3 Corvette Coupe. The best thing about the car is that it is as close to a daily driver car as you can get. Fires right up, idles smooth, and does not run hot. Below I have divided up the car into sections so that you know as much about the car as I do. That way I don’t waste your time seeing a car that is misrepresented, and you don’t waste my time seeing something you thought was something else.
Body/Paint/Exterior: This Corvette started life as an original black car, which was the first time since 1970 that you could get a black corvette from the factory. The paint on this car does have some blemishes as all 40-year-old cars do, but does shine up well. I would consider the paint very good condition driver quality. All the glass on the car is in good shape, as well as the trim, mirrors, stainless, and badges throughout the car. The headlights do go up and down. Also, all the turn signals, marker lights, brake/tail lights, and reverse lights work like they are supposed to. The outside door handles and the mirror on the passenger side are all brand new.
Interior: The interior is one of my favorite parts of this car. There is nothing better looking than a bright red interior on a black car. The carpet is an older replacement but still cleans up nice. The seats have been replaced and dyed and look great. The dash, console, and door panels are all original 1977 parts and present well. The rear storage area has been totally rebuilt, with a new main frame and door frames. All the gauges in the car work other than the speedometer. The radio will need speakers hooked up but is a good head unit that has been tested. 1977 had a unique one year only interior which brings in the great three-piece style older dash with the updated new style center console and gauge stack. The tilt/telescoping steering column works like it is supposed to, the steering wheel is brand new, and the multi-function turn signal switch even works. The parking brake cover is new as well.
Engine/Transmission: The engine on this corvette makes the vette the great daily driver that it is. It has an edelbrock carburetor and intake with an electric choke. Starts up great, even when cold, and idles like it should. The engine has a fresh oil change, air filter, oil filter, and mostly new rubber hoses throughout. The HEI distributor ignition parts have been replaced with new. The radiator is a dewitts radiator with a dual spal fan setup, which works quite well. I have the same setup on my big block ’73 roadster and love it. The engine runs cool no matter where and how you are driving. The engine bay has been tidied up with new valve covers, air cleaner lid, MC lid, freeze plug etc. The transmission was rebuilt according to the previous owner, but he couldn’t provide any paper work to confirm how long ago. I can tell the torque converter has been painted, as well as the pan, so it has been out before. I would recommend a pan gasket because it does leak a little fluid.
Suspension/Brakes/Exhaust: the suspension on this car is in good shape. The car tracks straight down the road and stops straight when the brakes are applied. The brakes have a good amount of pad on all four corners, with rotors in good shape. The previous owner replaced all 4 brake hoses with upgraded stainless-steel hoses. The wheels are American racing aluminum wheels with decent tires. The rear suspension has adjustable strut rods so you can get that hot rod look this car deserves. The exhaust on this car starts with hooker headers with side pipes. They give you that awesome muscle car sound, but are not loud enough to deafen you while you drive.
If you are interested in this car, please take the time to look on RU-vid, where I have NINE videos on the car. On RU-vid, search “AutoZone Special: 1977 C3 Corvette”. In these videos, I show all the work that I have done on the car in the last 6 months. No other car for sale can show you that! Remember there are 9 videos, so you will have to watch them all to catch up on the current condition of the car.
I am asking $9,500 OBO for the corvette. I have a clean, clear, blue TX title in my name for the car. Only trades I would be interested in would be an American classic 1978 and down of greater value in similar mechanical condition. Offers will be considered in cash in person. Call/email/text if interested!

Hey Ben. I grew up north of Denver and moved to NYC to go to college. Well that was 28 years ago. I haven’t owned a car since. Been thinking of finally getting out of here for the first time and moving back west. Just had a funny thought of me driving a 70s vette. Even in the 80s when I started driving this year vette would have been vintage. Anyhow. Keep up the content. Good job.

@@jeremysmith8990 … “man I wish I could afford to buy one of these cars from you!” Well, nowhere he said; out of everything in the world! Wow, he just wishes he could afford to buy a corvette from this guy… but that’s only if you cared to read and understand the entire sentence, and language. You must have learned a lot from watching fake news, by picking WORDS from sentences and turning it into something that wasn’t said. Where’s the part, “FROM YOU?” Meaning that he wishes he could afford to buy something from ONE SPECIFIC PERSON. It doesn’t mean THE ONLY WISH in the world. Unreal.

Yes a decently priced corvette not sure what state your in but in Washington state it’s a good price. It’s too bad it isn’t a 4 sp car but in 77 it kinda rare for a 3 sp automatic if it’s a original transmission anyway and not a 700r4 but ill regardless it’s reasonably priced. The side pipes alone brand new are $1,200 dollars

New to your videos and your channel and I just stumbled onto this video by accident really. I gotta say, I've never been a classic Corvette fan - I never liked them but, I didn't dislike them either. Just never really caught my eye *_BUT._* I will say that this particular one hooked me right in. I had myself a regular _'Christine'_ moment, soon as I saw it. You knocked it out of the park, man. I imagine this thing as a natural "chick magnet". You breathed new life into this car and I love the end result. I love it *_ALL_* - the black and red exterior/interior, the wing, the pipes, the motor, the rims. You outdid yourself. I don't know what it was about this particular car but, it caught my eye the way no other 'Vette has done. This thing looked *_AWESOME._* Great job man. Too bad you couldn't keep it to keep fine tuning it and all. I envy the person who bought it. I hope they appreciated the hard work you put into it and the massive potential this car had. Again, awesome upload here. Nod in your direction...

Whats the deal with the A/C? I noticed the belt missing. The A/C is super simple, you could easily fix it, if there is something wrong with it. You did a nice job... looks way better, and I like the side pipes. It was common for owners to install them in the 70's and early 80's. Very period correct car with the wheels, pipes and engine chrome!

With 49,213 production models made for '77, this car was super popular back in that era (and the color 'black' was once again offered...the first time since it disappeared after 1969). Of course anything '78 (from Silver anniversary model to Pace cars are sweet because of the new rear window, and upgraded interior). Once 1979 hit, folks were thinking they'll buy a Vette, flip it and make a fast dollar (henceforth the highest production models of 53,807...in all of Corvettes' 65 years). That said, the beloved entry level fourth generation 1984 Corvette sold a whopping 51,547 units (okay, '84 isn't 'beloved' today, but the magic number for all C4's sold is approximately 358,180). No your car⬆ isn't perfect, but where it was to where you took it speaks volumes, another job well done Ben! Almost forgot, looking forward to the '80 being brought back too.

Dude where do you find these corvette to work on? Before you even finish one project, you’ve got another one just waiting! I’ve been looking for one in similar condition, when you first get them, to work on. All the ones I’ve run across in that condition people want like $7k to $10k, which is what you are selling them for after you put a ton of work in them. I’m assuming you have to be paying $3k to $5k for the project cars so you can at least make a little money for you time and parts. But all the ones that I can find in that price range look like they have been rolled off a cliff.
@TheCorvetteBen
@TheCorvetteBen 6 лет назад
I usually use CL, facebook, and ebay. I usually price mine fairly in my opinion, because the longer they sit for sale, the less time I have money to put in another one. I usually will cut someone a good deal on order to get the car sent down the line. I COULD have started at 12k or something like that and waited a long time for it, but the faster the better. I think you need to buy one of mine when I get done with one.

Another big block Vette, or another stick shift Vette, where you try to make that shifter less balky, as a commenter said he did. Possibly a late C4 or maybe even a C5!

I have an 85 c4 vette in the works. Not really into C5s. The only ones in my budget are the salvage title/high mile ones. Those usually aren't worth my time. Plus, have you looked up parts for c5s? $$$$

+Stephen Schafer I would but the cost to even buy a project is out of budget

TheCorvetteBen Excellent point. With the 3M polyurethane fenders like the Camaros/Firebirds of the same era, I'm with you 100%. That said, the LS1 was a really good engine. What I never understood is if the C4 saved Corvette's behind from extinction, the C5 was a generation worth forgetting with the exception of the Z06. But all C4's are great cars to me. And honestly anything in a C3 is worth saving too. Looking forward to your 1980 resurrection. Sure loved the front/rear ends on this 'freshened' C3.

I know this might sound rude but if I was to start a project like this how much would I be looking on spending

Depends on how perfect you want to make the car.

Hi, my name is John. I had a 1964 Corvette that I really loved. I had a real blast owning this car back in 1971. Just thought I would mention to you I had electric headlights that opened and closed. I had no trouble with them and I was thought I would let you know an option was to put in electric lights

I see 1 thing you should do, that pad ont the bottom of the hood. And man, the red interior in a black car looks awsome, never seen that combo before. Love it

Love the wing.. loved the Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner too.. Not a fan of side pipes but the car looks great :)

Everyones got different opinions the aluminum edelbrock valve covers and cleaner are a lot more $$ and are a lot less likely to leak than the stamped chinese chrome stuff he replaced it with but as a guys whos had both what do I know.. The engine sounds like it has a miss to me but it could just be the video.
