I love your videos, I just want to give you a constructive correction if that is okay. At 5 minutes and 30 seconds to 5 minutes 36 seconds, you made a mistake in what you were saying and what you were reading. The writing said, "The 3600 calories a day that people are eating is 50% more than the 2,000 calories they're supposed to eat." But you said that "The 2,000 calories a person is eating is 50% more than the 3600 Cal people are supposed to eat." You got it backwards when you read it somehow. But that is okay, it is not a disrespect meant towards you. I know those things happen. I am impressed at your expertise in learning Chinese. I grew up in Korea for 7 years, and I'm married to a Korean now and my Korean is fairly good, but I am not an expert by any means. So congratulations to you on what you accomplished, and what you do. And by the way, I am 6 ft 3 and 210 lb. That makes my body mass index 25. I am right at the edge of being slightly overweight if I were to eat a little more than I am now. LOL. I just wanted to thank you though, you have encouraged me to get out and exercise more when I saw that comparison of fat to muscle in the 5lb that each one weighs, it made me realize this since I've retired from work I need to exercise and build up my muscle a little bit more. I have let myself go since I have stopped working. Unfortunately that is one of the things that many people seem to do. I have put on 40 lb since I retired and quit working as hard as I did. You are right we live too comfortable of a life.

I remembered back in the 1970s where a lot of American college football players were considered big if they were 200 pounds. Now, not so much.

Portion sizes, most people drive, the food itself have chemicals to make it addictive.

老馬我給個建議 你可以像 kindle那樣只做英文字幕,只有生僻的單詞才在字幕下面做解釋。

Since when woke leftists like Chris are even allowed to think obesity is a problem without being cancelled?

There's some additional nuance with a lot of this, too: - The Great Depression caused an influx in the idea about value-per-dollar, which has since made its way into today's culture - The BMI chart is trash. We all know that it's one of the most inaccurate measurements ever created. At 176lbs, eating 3,000+ cals per day, working out 5 times per day for over an hour, and developing a 6pack... I was still deemed obese because I was 5'9" 😆 - Trends in food. Back in the 80s, carbs were pushed really hard from very popular dietary/fitness icons, and fat was looked at like it was a disease - We're starting to celebrate obesity, which is one of the most dangerous things we can do. Being comfortable and accepting one's own obesity is fine, as long as there's the understand that it's not good, and instead, focusing on getting in shape and changing one's lifestyle is accepted and promoted amongst peers... but that's seen as "fat shaming" 🤦‍♂. Heart Disease is the number one killer of deaths in the USA, and exceeded guns deaths by a large factor. When a ship is taking on water, I don't worry about the paint chipping off XD - Currently, we're trying to get better. At the moment, even though we're trying to allow obese people to be happy with being obese, we're going through a big fitness trend. It's great to see, honestly. More companies are doing their own research and are starting to find some very interesting information about the specific needs of each person, exercise methodologies, etc. I always cite China, Japan, Korea, etc., as they have some of the oldest, healthiest populations on the planet. The oldsters do stuff every day! It's awesome to see an 80 year old ayi cutting a rug 😂🥰 - I see China going through the same issues within 10 years or so. They're very overworked, don't have much time to spend at home, and so convenience will become a bigger factor when trying to feel millions/billions of people, rapidly. That, in turn, will force many companies to produce similar foods that are essentially empty calories and high carbs, and will produce more obesity 50 years ago there was still a struggle, which is something we don't have anymore. We think struggle is a bad thing, but it's actually a necessity of human nature, otherwise we start to create our own problems simply to have an issue that we can try to solve; we create the struggle. The people 50 years ago did such a tremendous job that they pretty much eliminated struggle, with the idea that they didn't want others after them to struggle like they did. Unfortuntely, they didn't realize that having at least a little struggle is the way to learn and harden. Arm-chair-quarterbacking things is easy for me to do, so it's not like I blame them since they were working within the parameters of what they knew at the time, but eventually we (USA) will have to come back to finding a balance of fundamental ideas as to what healthy is, looks like, and to make a cultural change as to how we view a healthier lifestyle (i.e. promoting more family walks, actually parenting a child and making them go outside instead of playing video games for 8 hours per day, etc.).
