In this video Tom teaches our fellow RC enthusiasts how to best utilize the Heli Governor Mode built into the Spektrum Avian line of electronic speed controls. In the “Helicopter (Store Governor)” mode, the ESC will save the “Motor RPM-Throttle” curve after the Governor Calibration. After adjusting to this mode from any other mode, you need to standardize the speed when the ESC is connected to the battery for the first time and you needn’t standardize the speed again after disconnecting the ESC from the battery first and then connecting it to the battery again. If adjusting to any other mode from this mode and saving the “Motor RPM-Throttle” curve, and then adjusting back to this mode, the “Motor RPM-Throttle” curve saved by the ESC will be cleared, and you need to standardize the speed once again. If your ESC remains in this mode in future, then it will always carry out its operation as per the saved “Motor RPM-Throttle” curve. When standardize the speed for the first time, we recommend using a battery in good condition. After the RPM standardization, change another battery with the same number of cells to fly your aircraft. At the same throttle amount, the RPM should be consistent with the RPM of the first flight. it would be nice if he would tone down the music while he's calibrating the esc. how can we hear the single tone at the end while there's so much noise.
Thanks for the vids Tom! This is a good video to show us how to set up the esc. Can you do a video showing us how to enter the info into the transmitter, to read the RPM correctly for the telemetry (ix12 and 20)? I set it up in the rpm telem screen and had 90k rpm. I deleted those settings and I entered them into the telem esc screen.. but I get "1," once it goes over 1k rpm? 10 pole motor, 9.166 ratio.
Have done the governor store calibration but then I plug it to the computer there is no numbers at all. Tried it 4-5 times with same result. Is my esc broken?
I set the end points and store gov calibration but when I go to the Smart Link program there are no values showing up on the sliding scale on the RPM side.????
I get the same. The Spektrum ESC just never stores the max rpm so no values in the software. I contacted Horison on numerous occasions and their replies is all around the subject. Keep on telling me what I should “really” do... I’m using the same procedure as in the video which is the same as the Hobbywing with no luck.
is enough hit the "send to ESC setting" after rpm selection in flight modes, or have to set the % obtained in each flight mode flat curve on TX? Many thanks
The only part I’m confused on is how do I enter proper rpm range on after market motors ? and how do I know the proper percentage to put it in? Shouldn’t the app calculate the percentage automatically when putting in rpm?
Spektrum - I've tried this about 20 times over and over but it just doesn't store the max RPM in the ESC. Same as the Hobbywing which I've done 100's of times it always stores the RPM as zero - "0" On the Governor page in the PC software it states "NAN" next to the RPM Required. Could anyone help. I've done: - Enter Heli Governor Store Mode - Lipo Fully Charged - Set throttle to 50% and blades on zero degrees - Heli in place, throttle hold off, heli spools up until RPM stabilises (about 5'ish seconds), leave for an alternative 20 seconds - Disconnect lipo, connect again to programmer and PC. - Head speed never safed Please help!
I’m using the 100A Avian ESC. I’m doing everything the same as in the video which is the same as the Hobbywing ESC. The ESC never stores the max rpm so no data display. I also noted other comments about the “hard start.” The ESC only does soft start once. If I land, do adjustments, it’s got a really hard kick on spool-up. The program box has a “very soft” where the software only got “soft” however, still got the hard kick on spool-up.
@@anton38357 It is something we are looking into. One thing you can do to avoid this is to make sure you leave throttle hold on for a few moments after changing settings, or even flipping hold on and off again to make sure if sees that signal before starting up
@@SpektrumRCvideos - I tried this too Spektrum. The “Soft Start” only stays for about 10’ish seconds after landing. Flipping the throttle hold off and quickly on does not allow the ESC to enter “Soft Start” on any spool up after. The only way to enable “Soft Start” is to cycle the lipo off and back on to do a complete re-start. The Governor setting on this ESC also never safes the maximum RPM in the software and I noticed the RPM does not pickup while in hard manoeuvres - same issue many pilots have on various sites. I personally feel this ESC was not ready for supply to the RC market.
Hi my programming box say connecting to pc power on heli and nothing happens just sits there operating system windows 10 it confirmed plug in and setup but doesent connect to smart link
☠️BLACK BARON☠️ How do I easily setup the max RPM at 100% throttle for a 5 blade rotorhead which should be something around 1500-1800rpm depending on the blades a scale modeller is using?
I've set my rpms to 1800 2400 and 2800 when flying at 2800 esc goes in to thermal protection and reduces power significantly that heli comes down I always mange to do an auto rotate to prevent damages @SpektrumRC
@@edgardojagr216 the 100 amp esc is too low rec the 130 amp avian you can run higher rpm and does well and when it heats up it'll stop but recover quick
@@edgardojagr216 you're best fix was to fly without the canopy that way u didn't cut holes you'll quickly find it will still shut off unless you reduce your rpm to about 1800 or 2000 max
