During my Tiger's 2022 Annual inspection, AuCountry installed a brand new Powerflow Exhaust System. These are my thoughts. Note: A new AuCountry front wheel strut fairing was installed as well, which allows additional airflow throughout the engine bay.

I put on the previous version of the powerflow on my Tiger. That was about 20 years ago. It made a big difference. I picked up about 95 RPM doing a static run up plus about 150 FPM increase. From about 500 FPM to 650 FPM and I live in Flagstaff at 7000 feet ASL. The engine changed sound as well. Went from loud to not nearly as loud and at a different pitch. I also put on a LoPresti cowl. That helped a lot with cooling. My oil temp would routinely go to about 200 during climb out in the middle of summer. That was from Deer Valley in Phoenix. Now it's rare to go above 185 during summer from Deer Valley. All around very happy with modification.

Debating on whether to add a powerflow to my AG5B when my engine is overhauled in about 6 or 7 months. After flying with it for several months, are you still happy about the upgrade? Gary does all my work as well.

I baby my engine and there is a legit improvement in operating Temps. The price was about what's expected for any upgrade in aviation but I figured it would help prolong a $40k engine overhaul at a minimum. I can confirm about 100-200 fpm climb increase at the same Temps. Tbh the performance improvements are not significant in the grand scheme of things. I think the surefly improved my flying experience more than anything else I've done haha!

@@killerbloc the climb increase certainly sounds nice. You didn't notice any TAS speed increase in cruise? Any noticeable change in fuel burn? I have the Surefly also. I'm not sure if I notice any difference with that but I needed new mags at the time so it seemed like a logical choice.

I have no doubt there is an increase in TAS in full throttle or fuel savings compared to the same power settings, but they appear to be so slight it's not outwardly apparent. I'm sure if I documented and adjusted for altimeter and humidity, etc. that it would show gains, but when I get in and go, I still appear to make it to my common destinations at the same time. The climb and temp improvements are easily apparent from a stick and throttle point of view. As far as top speed, the powerflow doesn't improve aerodynamics, and with a fixed pitch prop, the goto is to clean up the airframe and make it as slick as possible. Tigers leave at least 10 easily gained mph on the table from my understanding. Remove the jelly jar (done), jaguar or Similar cowling (done), hide the antennas (coming up), new paint job and then ceramic coating or regular waxing, lightening the gross weight load, etc.

@wolficorntv Regarding the surefire, I was speaking towards just the pilot experience of flying. The engine starts instantly, no plug fouling since I've got it, smoother engine, etc.
