Learn to drive with your Thumbs outside the steering wheel. Modern Steering Wheel Airbags are notorious for Breaking Thumbs during activation, whenever Thumbs get momentarily trapped between Airbag and Steering Wheel.
Maybe early versions from 25 years ago. Modern bags are so small now, ever seen one go off recently? They only split in the centre, and steering wheels today are engineered to be used that way. Have another look at that steering wheel. The airbag is 3 inches away from the wheel itself
