You didn't mention the smoke. This year so far it's not so bad but most summers there is so much forest fire smoke it's unhealthy to even go outside. I'm glad you mentioned the traffic. My family all says it's just fine. They don't mind circling downtown for an hour trying to find a place to park. They don't mind waiting a half hour at a restaurant to get a seat. Dodging pedestrians, deer, it's tough.
It's a cute town. We always drive through on the way to the Oregon Coast, but we got to spend a few days in Ashland recently while helping the kid move into her dorm at SOU. Long term, I think I'd be concerned about another wildfire coming through like what happened four years ago.
I'm a 43 year Ashland resident. The items mentioned by the presenter are almost entirely positive. I tried lithia water 43 years ago and haven't drunk it since. Ashland is a desirable place to live. Wait! I think I'll adopt Mr. Simmons' approach: Stay away from Ashland. It's so good we want it all to ourselves. 🤣
Thank you for this. Most appreciated. Next time can you talk about the smoke? Its so bad in the summer that it keeps you locked in the house working from home for days at a time. Something for outsiders who are thinking about moving here to be aware of.
man my parents are looking at moving to Ashland and this list had me scared for second especially the water but now that ive finished watching i couldnt help but laugh at most of these. I could see how these could be concerns for some but coming from California this place seems like a good place. I travel an hour to my work in the mountains from Fresno because I prefer being in a beautiful place with people that have a sense of community so being less than 30 minutes from a big city is perfect lol.
pushing their views down eveyones throat.... like fire safety? sheesh. ashland is under threat from fires as i write this and the "aggressive" city council deserves a bit of credit instead of condemnation. but i would like to add that your views are pretty balanced about my town. ashland is def a better spot by comparison to our neighbor towns, if you like to do things. cheers 🍻
My hats off to them for sure for promoting the fire safety. They have done a good job of that. I just think the fire safety score system they were trying to force in, rather than vote in, wasn't the right way to go about it.
You got it! Check out this video about the 11 Things I LOVE about Living in Ashland -- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t1o2j9EkV3k.html
Sounds like a perspective of someone who is not a liberal; more like a conservative Republican. Ashland is more expensive because it is progressive. Please check your political bias.
Sounds like your a hater to me! An international Airport in Medford. Also if you've ever lived in a city, costco and a major hospital being just 15 min away is amazing! I love the 4 seasons.!
While Ashland's current government leadership is fairly absurd, the rest of the comments here (the location, the elevation, the tourists, the "hippies?") seem a bit of a reach. Ashland doesn't really need you to "promote" it. We've done pretty well for decades and, if newcomers don't ruin us, we'll do just fine in the future too. Don't want to move here? PLEASE DON'T.
If you think that it is your g'd given right to burn methane go sell real estate in Central Pennsylvania, South Dakota or Oklahoma where the fracking industry has decimated the land, poisoned the water and the air. It is environmentally immoral to install new gas appliances. Your other comments are petty or just wrong. We do however have a lively class struggle here which plays itself out in our city council meetings.
That's one of the wonderful things about our country is that we're all entitled to an opinion. I respect yours even though it obviously disagrees with mine. Like every other type of morality, envronmental morality is a personal viewpoint. If your morals differ from someone elses, I don't believe that makes them wrong or makes you right. Breaking the law, for example, is wrong. Disagreeing about what type of dryer I can use to dry my clothes is not. Thank you for watching the channel.
I really don’t like the traffic within the “downtown”, the downtown should be closed to automobile traffic, walking promenades only. City of Ashland accumulate a lot of money from taxes, so the City should build parkings lots near Exit’s from Hwy I-5 with public transportation every 10 minutes both ways. Oh about the Mineral Water, is great, just educate yourself 🩵
