Crazy!!! There is such a heavy Fentanyl/ISO problem, high Overdoses, over crowded ER rooms, low quality medical care if you can get a PCP to be seen by one Mental Health imay be due to the Meth era guaranteed no meth hardly now, just Fentanyl/ISO. And its crime issues because no one wants to work because of the high drug use. I have lived in 10 different states and they all have their issues equally to be expected in the larger cities, for these towns to be small they have big city issues, #Jackson County. Id rather be here than New York.
One important thing to understand about living in southern Oregon: The socialist in Portland outnumber the rest of the state combined. The bureaucrats in the capital couldn't find Klamath Falls on a map.
It sounds harmless to ban commercial agriculture on rural residential lands. In fact, Strategic Zoning laws are the biggest threat to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. It's through Zoning that all development can be stopped by the government and your property can be rendered worthless. And yet, the government demands you pay property tax on property they control or they will confiscate it. If you want to see how Communism works, look at Jackson County Oregon Zoning Laws. Communism is the government controlling the means of production. Section 4.3.6(D) of the JC zoning code is why there is so much recreational property in Southern Oregon that can never be developed.
Let’s summarize? If your a ford dealer? You don’t say chevys are better . Hum? Sounds like Kamala Harris talking , hey ! Do you think everybody is blind , I agree with a little of what you’re saying .
If someone remodeled the home that your buying, be sure to check to see if they got the proper permits and had it inspected. If you buy it, and they neglected this, YOU are held liable - financially and civilly. You can face charges. Call the county assessors office to find out. You should also call the county assessor to get an idea of what the taxes have been so you can plan ahead.
Oregon has spots that are heavy in arsenic. You never know until you drill the well and have the water tested. Too much arsenic and you’re out around $20k and have to start over.
Great video. I think you're confusing the homeless transients at the plaza and surrounding area with hippies though. The hippies grew up and became the woke in Ashland and then there's the transients that peddle at the plaza.
If you buy a piece of property, country? No well ? No power ? No septic? First thing you do ? Go to a well drilling company first rate co , ask is there water around the area ? Contact septic c , ask questions etc , cost of road , cost to have power to lot , county restrictions.
15-20k in building permit fees prevents many projects from starting here in Oregon. The state government likes to nickel and dime it's residents, step on landowner rights, and waste tax dollars of scam social programs that fix nothing. It's our job to push back not be doormats to ever expanding agencies.
I expected CJ to be on the list, but not number one. I live here and can tell you it wasn't always like this. The main problems are meth, alcohol and homelessness. There are incredibly beautiful swimming holes, camping and gold mining galore. Tourists fall in love with the "Eight Dollar" area. There's a Tiger Conservation park, the Caves Monument and Selma's swinging bridge canyon is spectacular. Our section of the Illinois River is the Chinook salmon spawning beds every October. This town had it all . . . so what went wrong? Ya not enough police. <-- How did that happen? Biden DemocRATS and Liberals took over society. There are quite a few grocery stores for such a small town area but they monopolize prices very high with the excuse of shipping expenses. Nobody wants higher taxes for ANYTHING. Liberals suffering TDS are destroying this town. Next year will be different with Trump.
I would never move children to Ashland. It consistently is on the list for outbreaks like measles and chickenpox because so many parents don't vaccinate their children. (Not talking about the Covid vaccine). People like this are why polio isn't dead.
I remember as a kid my parents talking about the cost for all of the homes on the private road we were on, as it was paved, and needed work on occasion. Then someone talked to the city, and sent out a petition to request the city to own the road, and do maintenance and how it would save each homeowner the maintenance costs. There were enough signatures, and a half a year later the city did. But it changed the zoning of all homes on the road, increasing the tax rates. So what it actually did is save each homeowner $200 a year, but cost each homeowner a bundle. My parents were not happy when the tax rate went up over a thousand a year. Note, this was a long, long time ago, in today’s dollars it would be much more.
@@danielfiore8865 - The government didn’t force us, we, or my parents on the street petitioned the city for the change, but no one asked or knew the difference in residential tax rates of different types of residential neighborhoods.
@@danielfiore8865 - I didn’t say HOA’s. What are you talking about. If your street wants to make parking on one side of the street only, you can pass along petition and if the majority want it, you got it. My parents and the people on the street just thought they would save the expense of maintaining the street by allowing the city to incorporate (might be the wrong term) it as a normal city owned road, without knowing or asking the what then, what if’s, or unforeseen consequences.
@@Erin-Thor my only point is less government is always better. You willing gave away control of your (shared w neighbors) property and didn't think they'd charge ya? The solution would have been forming a group (hoa) and tackling the issues instead of outsourcing to the government. Maybe too complex for ya. Hey...👋 have a great life eh
Zoning outside urban boundaries is BS. So the gov tells you what you can and cant do on your property. And for that, you get to develop the land and pay the ever increasing property taxes because of the work you did...with permission. What you have isnt ownership. Its a time share scam.
The best way to avoid wildfire risk is not build in wildfire areas. Help is not coming. You could be left facing a flame front 30 feet tall driven by 50 mph winds standing there with a garden hose. Firefighters resent people building in natural fire-prone areas.
We are waiting for Southern/South Eastern Oregon to become part of Idaho - then we will gladly move there and buy something! Until then we wait and look other places. Beautiful area but your state government stinks!
If you want to live in Idaho, move to Idaho. Leave the state boundaries alone. It amazes me that people think they are so special that they can take their land wherever they want. What happens when you decide to live in Florida ?
@@user-ty1zz2kf9o Then we become florida. The problem is the state government extorting it's citizens. The majority of the state understand this but not you.
If you think that it is your g'd given right to burn methane go sell real estate in Central Pennsylvania, South Dakota or Oklahoma where the fracking industry has decimated the land, poisoned the water and the air. It is environmentally immoral to install new gas appliances. Your other comments are petty or just wrong. We do however have a lively class struggle here which plays itself out in our city council meetings.
That's one of the wonderful things about our country is that we're all entitled to an opinion. I respect yours even though it obviously disagrees with mine. Like every other type of morality, envronmental morality is a personal viewpoint. If your morals differ from someone elses, I don't believe that makes them wrong or makes you right. Breaking the law, for example, is wrong. Disagreeing about what type of dryer I can use to dry my clothes is not. Thank you for watching the channel.
They are protecting it from ourselves. If people lived there it wouldn’t be what it is today. Also the terrain as you stated is very rugged and not easy to build thus is why it was not settled.
Great review! Been watching these for a while and started getting nervous of my decision to come work/live there (working in Ashland but living in Medford) until I saw your outlook. I plan on texting that number provided but in case other people have similar Q’s please answer whatever you’re comfortable with: -In my 30’s and looking for community -Looking for a local church (preferably one that preaches with apologetics/hermeneutics) -Intramural/club sports and their links -Youngish/conservative-ish bars, night life, activities (if that even exists) -Any thoughts on the Steward Meadows rental facility/location
Hello! Thank you for reaching out and please feel free to call or text me at 541-954-7758 when you're ready to chat. To answer a couple of your questions, I have included a link below for the Medford Parks & Rec website where you can find all sorts of info about various intramural sports. In regards to nightlife like you described, there are some nice places in downtown Medford like Jefferson Spirits and Beerworks that would be worth checking out. I don't have any experience with the Stewart Meadows rental facility but I know that general area is definitely growing and is pretty popular. Looking forward to hearing from you and helping you out! www.sportsmedford.com/home
Sounds like a perspective of someone who is not a liberal; more like a conservative Republican. Ashland is more expensive because it is progressive. Please check your political bias.
While Ashland's current government leadership is fairly absurd, the rest of the comments here (the location, the elevation, the tourists, the "hippies?") seem a bit of a reach. Ashland doesn't really need you to "promote" it. We've done pretty well for decades and, if newcomers don't ruin us, we'll do just fine in the future too. Don't want to move here? PLEASE DON'T.
That's not even close to accurate. There are homes in Jacksonville in just about all price ranges. It is one of the most expensive parts of Southern Oregon, but it's very affordable compared to other areas on the West Coast.
Why don’t you do a video on why southern Oregon hate Californians? Because you’d have no customers. Locals can’t afford homes anymore thanks to Californians
