Thanks for the tip, Val! Just getting over my yearly bout of "how much snot can my nose make" - I hate feeling sick! Black Elderberry extract is my friend. Hope you get over your crud soon!
Thank you! I looked at a packet of random throat sweets that Dave has but unfortunately I have type 2 diabetes and they are made almost entirely of sugar 🙄. Get well soon xx
Hi, Ages ago you tried Sculpey Premo for the first time, you said you would try it a few more times and let us know if you prefer it to Fimo. I might have missed the video but which Clay do you prefer ? Thanks I love your channel Beth x
Oooh... I can't remember. You know what? I love Fimo, it's really firm for making canes (which controls distortion) and it's strong with great colours. However, I got to the point that by the time I had conditioned it sufficiently, I didn't have the energy to create. It was sucking the fun out of everything. Premo can definitely be too soft sometimes, the colours aren't as vibrant sometimes... But it's strong and ultimately it's much more user friendly. Soufflé is interesting, if you want a matte finish.
Donna Kato came up with a product to turn your clay black called Black Out. So no worries about mud anymore as black is a very useable color. Still your point is well taken, thank you.
Thanks! I was really excited to see Donna's product too! It's still nice if you can save some pretty colours though. Definitely takes the pressure off to know everything won't end up brown either way 😁
Good tip. I make stamps with my scrap clay. Have your tried storing the vaneers between sheets of mylar and storing them as a block? I find it cuts down on storage. I hope you feel better soon!
@@UnrulyHousewife I'm making hot chocolate charms i'm sure it wont harm it since it will be filled with opaque dark pastels to make froth and chocolate sauce but i'm still curious for future projects that calls for clearer liquid clays. I was wondering what to expect when we do.
Thinking about it I have made plates of food and frosting for cakes by mixing with liquid clay... They came out fine. I know it seems like a waste of energy but it might be worth experimenting with a single item before committing to a batch.
As always Val, your video was really informative. No matter how many things I’ve made that have produced the mud colour as scrap, not once did it occur to me to think my choices through initially, or do a test ‘smoosh’ beforehand. Luckily in my case, I put my ‘mud’ to good use as a base for a 3D object or sculpture (all sounds grander than they turn out!). So, if anyone already has a ton of mud, then perhaps that could be a way of using it to make a prettier end product, as you can cover with a thin veneer of a pretty pattern or colour. Get better soon Oh Unruly one! Much love xx
Thanks Anita! I do see quite a bit of advice out there about using scrap mud but I didn't recall anything about avoiding it, so I thought I would share (from my deathbed). xx
Val you are a trooper! Get well soon. This is a much needed tutorial for beginners and a reminder to us veterans. Give Reggie scratches from me and God bless you and your family.
I enjoyed this Val! (Especially 'the dog thingy'!😆) I usually refer to my mud clay as 'babies nappy'... 🤢 I'm hoping to start some small groups fairly soon and will have separate boxes for the different colours! I hope you feel better soon, take care. XxxX
@@UnrulyHousewife I've done it before and had up to 10 people, but now I'm going to have fewer people and more classes! I've been asked to do some small things at a local care home, should be fun!
