I had some bad luck with Amana/Goodman. I have had really good luck with Allied air. Concord for my budget friendly and Armstrong for the premium.

I'd rather do one of these then those pain is the ass Carrier ones that you have to put together.

So is it only the back plate that's the problem? Or is the lower heat exchanger also clogged?

I believe just the back plate on most of these. There was a lot of rust that fell out of the secondary. With the heat exchanger that was new for some reason it wasn’t draining and there was a bunch of water in it.

My POY was a money pit after year one. I was happy to get rid of it.

How was it diagnosed? Combustion analysis?

The second heat exchanger was. Mainly with these I always look around the blower even pull the blower and you can see the rust and corrosion.

Windows 90 plus gas furnaces It's usually the acid watch out the second stage heat exchanger

I have no problems with AirTemp as a base unit. Cheap and reliable for my customers.

Are these furnaces pitched to the front to drain? I dont know if it helps but i pitch all my furnaces so they drain good.

No they are all level. Shouldn’t have to do that, the engineers should have figured that out. I even looked in the manuals for these models, there is nothing said to pitch them. I think it’s just a bad design all around.

20 years on the heat exchanger. The new furnace will be retro. So 7 more years left on the heat exchanger of the new furnace.

Heat exchanger warranty is lifetime to the original owner if furnace warranty was registered with York within 90 days of the install

Lifetime is typically 20 years. This one is gonna be prorated, warranty doesn’t start over.

We where a fujitsu dealer but after covid hit the equipment prices went way up and availability was not good. So we started installing guardian mini split/ johnson controls so far just minor issues tech support was awesome believe it or not. Fujitsu tech support sucks.

Made it 13 years ? Tell them they only warranty 10 years reason and on average 15 years for high efficiency furnaces life span. Even if they have 20 year warranty on heat exchanger like carrier thats not laber included. At least they not as heavy as carriers heat exchanger wouldn't be picking up one handed

seen a lot of goodman fail at the first turn of the primary. Do you have a Trane distributor near by? they sell RunTru Same assembly, if you don't want to sell the name brand.

Yes I do, luckily so far JCI has authorized to just swap out these older furnaces. That way it’s still covered under warranty. I have another one to do Monday.
