@@jamaliahmohdjamil7259 Hey Jamaliah I just wanted to give an honest review of the place I don't understand the hype. We love Kuantan the food in your city is so good and the people super kind 🇲🇾
@@EllisWR it's ok.. what are you saying is true.. hope the cakes shop owner will improve their cakes quality and their service..by the way I love your banana leaf eating part.. it's really look so good..
It is always good to ask locals for good local food place recommendation. The cheesecake place, it’s good for IG posting, so overrated. If you are in Kuantan on Sunday, you can head towards Taman Gelora from 4 or 5pm for the weekend market to experience more delicious food. You can always ask passerbys or stall owners, for food like Sata Ikan, Ayam Pagang, Rojak Ayam, Laksa, Laksam, Nasi Dagang, Kueh Melayu, etc. and ppl will assist.
For the pudding, the yellow noodles like thing actually was a egg yolk. Back in the day it was the dessert serve to the King, that y the name was puding diraja (royal pudding).
Curry on a banana leaf the local way, looked so good. Kitten made me smile. l just got clawed feeding a stray kitten and its mum. The poor things were so hungry fighting over the food, l got in the way.
Only cake shop I've ever been with security on the door 🤣 so definitely a popular place in Kuantan, I had the burnt cheesecake and it was good, nothing that special though. Hope you guys are enjoying the East coast as much as I did 🙌
Ahah we went just to see why people were raving about it. Frozen cheesecake definitely isn't sommet I'm a fan ahah. The east coast is so chill mate we love it no stress over here. Where you at now
@@EllisWR Surely they didn't mean to give you a frozen one though. I'm in England now bro, back to work so selling my own cheesecakes again now haha I'll be back to Asia again towards the end of the year, need to complete my Malaysia tour, Borneo etc. What are your plans after the east coast?
@@cworldwanderer Mate they serve everybody frozen I looked around, google reviews lots of people saying its frozen probably so they can make big numbers and just freeze them. Whey were hoping to hit Borneo also later. Off to the Philippines then no idea. What are your Asia plans
@@EllisWR Cheesecake does freeze pretty well but personally I don't do that as I want everything to be as fresh as possible. Don't know about Malaysia but when I made some for friends in Indonesia the cream cheese was very expensive so thats maybe why they freeze it, to lower wastage. Even still though Malaysia is a hot country, it won't take long to defrost haha Other way round to you again then haha I was thinking Philippines after Sabah. Have to see though, still many places I haven't been to in SE Asia. Look forward to watching your journey for some ideas 👌 keep up the good work 🙌
Kula cakes r quite wonderful. I only tried d frozen mango cheesecake n red velvet, both nice. U should also try d cheesecakes from Secret Recipe, it's in d city centre, I really like d macadamia salted caramel cheesecake n New York cheesecake. D lamb shank n fish n chips at Secret Recipe r also quite nice n affordable.
If u guys r still in Kuantan, try sate Zul, I find it's quite nice n tasty, d price per stick is more expensive than other satay coz it's chunkier. Some say it's overrated.
@@EllisWR Well, maybe d next time. If I'm not mistaken, they have 3 outlets, one on Jalan Teluk Sisek, one near d post office in city centre n another one near d east coast mall. Thank u too. 😀
I'm glad I carry wooden spoons in my handbag though I appreciate you're experiencing life like locals. I live in Thailand so I'm used to fork and spoon 😊
exactly!! the cake is soooo overrated.. Nasi Daun Pisang🤤🤤🤤🤤 Ellis, whilst in kuantan, have u tried Ikan Bakar (grilled fish)? if you haven't had it, maybe you can consider for your next meal😊
@@EllisWR not far from that city area. 5-10mnts drive only.. people might recommend you to go to Ana Ikan Bakar.. but as we both agree, viral spots are mostly overrated😅 i would suggest you to go to Mael Ikan Bakar.. you must try grilled Stingray (ikan pari).. i bet you're gonna love it👍👍
I live in Kuantan but have never tried the mango cheesecake but I agree with you that it's overrated.I like eating cheesecake that is soft, moist & have enough cream cheese.About the royal pudding, yes you should try it because some of the ingredients are hard to find.About the best Indian restaurant in Kuantan,I'm not sure because there are so many Indian restaurants, not sure which is the best.
I've no idea too🤣The royal pudding can only be found in Kuantan or Pekan(the royal town).I usually go to Indian Muslim restaurants (mamak restaurants)so I'm not sure which Indian restaurant is the best.
Weird.. why did kula cake serve frozen cheesecake... I have eaten there before and it was served normally and not frozen... what happened?😮😮😮 by the way. you shouldn't eat cheesecake in malaysia... it's not malaysian food. hahaha... as a westerner, the cheesecake at your place is the best...😊😅
Ahaha yes Keri we don't eat stuff like this in foreign countries I just wanted to see why. People were queuing up, maybe they've become lazy. And started freezing
There must be some mistake there...I HV never seen frozen cheese cake being served anywhere...should ask the person at the counter why you are being served a frozen cheese cake...😊
Hey Mohd. Believe it or not they serve this to everybody frozen it's laziness. It's a famous place we only ate here to see why everybody was hyping it up and it was terrible ahaha
Luckily you reviewed the cheese cake is overrated, myself personally went there twice but haven’t got a chance to try bcoz of so many people lining up. Im from KL by the way. Tq
@@EllisWR since you’re already in kuantan, I’m not sure whether you got a chance to try ana ikan bakar petai or not. Ikan bakar means grilled fish but added with petai. I don’t know how to translate petai, but it sort of beans. So ana ikan bakar petai is quite famous over there and i usually have it for my dinner every-time i go to kuantan. Maybe if you got chance to try, you can have it together with grill squid, or butter prawn together with plate of rice.
Oh, no, no, this is an iceberg cheese cake, and not even can be eat with a teaspoon. When you say that someone will be killed If you throw it out 😂😂😂 Ellis, you make my day happy 🤣. I m sorry this is the first time i have seen you ANGRY😔
@@EllisWR Indeed. Maybe it was really good at one time but being famous make them cut corners / complacent. Appreciate that you were honest about it 😊
@@EllisWR Cheese is a foreign food to Malaysians generally. They do not know what is good or bad like you do. Use the simile of Nasi-Lemak, you do not know as much as they do.
@@EllisWR Experienced one similar case in Kajang, where the famous Kajang Satay originated. Can you imagine, they served cold Satays for the same reason!
The yellow stuff is likely dal curry ( lentils ). The warm water drink , is a local belief that its good for your health , all over Asia actually. I think this idea is Chinese in origin, i could be wrong. Rose water drinks are popular during Muslim festivies and Muslim weddings.
