@@daanamelink7148 Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 were the origin of the world of Eora. They are very different games than what Avowed will be though. they are top down CRPGs and seems to be much darker art style (especially the first one) than what we are getting in Avowed.

@@RPDragonforce gear that is permanently bound to the player once they equip it, can't trade with other players. can be sold to npcs, but at a low profit than what it would be really worth. at least that's how it works in WoW, not sure about this game. bind on pickup could also be a thing, but who knows, gotta wait for more info.

Im really glad they didn't stay too ambitious. Sad that they didn't want to do open world anymore, because that niche was filled. But perhaps that created more creative freedom and a more interesting world.

Considering this is the team that made the stinker that is The Outer Worlds, people should have no hope for this game

​@@-pROvAK To me outerworld was more of a narrative game with action than it was an action game. Avowed seems to already have more action in it its only job to try and take up a bit of Xbox space until the true banger that is ES6 drops and after Starfield I'm sure ES6 will raise the bar yet gain since it's the GTA of RPGs

I think it's the lighting! It appears they implemented more complimentary and tertiary color schemes which kind of echos the 80s cinematic realm of fantasy and scifi which is growing popular. Looks like the perfect bridge between elder scrolls and the witcher, I'll play it!

The Outer Worlds was cartoonish, I think they just like that art style.

pillars of eternity gameworld is pretty colourful...thats the setting

I kinda like it. I think obsidian does a good job making more lighthearted rpgs with humor that also has dark moments aswell. If you want dark rpgs its better to play elden ring or diablo.

It's just that the game is too colorful. If they tone down the colors a bit it's perfect. This is a super easy mod. Hopefully they have a mod tool.

​@@Vorekdorno, it's not color that's the problem. It's art design. As others have said, look at the spider around 1:21. It's very cartoony in design.

I'm not a fan of the vibrant and cartoony artstyle either. Also disappointed by the graphics and combat, as it wouldn't have taken a lot to convince me this is an impressive Beyond Skyrim type mod

Id say both art design and highly saturated colour palette. The first is just harder to notice because of the vibrant look.

No, we have had too much dark game where everything is desaturated or brown. It's time to return to Oblivion style :D

I’m not referring to the colour palette necessarily, the art style, the magic effects, ofc the colour palette is part of it. Oblivion although using a saturated colour palette still had a more realistic & darker tone to the game itself. This seems more like Grounded in its art style and animations. And to clarify, I will probably be playing Avowed it looks fine, just not what I (we all have different tastes) was hoping for something akin to their initial trailer.

Yeah, I'm not sold on this either. The art direction doesn't take any chances, just run-of-the-mill modern fantasy with saturated primary colors. Nothing stand-out. Doesn't even showcase or reference the distinct visual style of the PoEs. Why? Seems very uninspired, hope it's not indicative for the game at large.

Yeah, I'm quite disappointed after this trailer unfortunately. I love everything Obsidian except for OuterWorlds, so I don't think this will be for me.

And I certainly agree with the visuals. It's so colorful and the animations/models just don't feel right. The combat looks like you just activate a lot of abilities and the actual melee seems clunky, like melee in Fallout games (big surprise)

The magic combat doesn't look that good either. I wish it had something more akin to Blade and Sorcery or even Elden Ring in terms of magic visuals. It looks pretty dated to be honest, and even Lichdom: Battlemage (2014) had better spell effects than what we've seen in the trailer.

I like the more juicy combat. I hate the overly flowy unrealistic stuff

Already started before this but absolutely will do and finish them both and respective DLC stories on easy but being a Crpg noob I need it to be easy.

Guns are pretty standard in tabletop rpg settings now (just your renaissances kind, nothing modern)

Yeah in pillars I got a Musket wielding dude. Just played a few hours of the game myself but I plan to play both by the time Avowed is out.

Pillars is more a colonial era fantasy, instead of medieval... they got pirates and flintlocks as well as swords and shields, its all very 1500s

But why? Obsidian always had great degree of freedom

@@signup5787 1: Because LOREWISE having no classes makes no sense. In Pillars of Eternity is each class a life time of dedication and work. It is not possible to any degree to just pick up a grimoire and cast spells... (that in fact has VERY bad and disastrous effects) To allow you to just randomly add spells to your loadout would not make sense 2: Class systems allow Obsidian to focus more on unique design. A class system allows abilities to be able to say "Alright, we know that this player will have X Y and Z allowing us to have this ability, while a more open system MUST be usable by any class to some extent... lessening unique abilities and spells 3: Motivates multiple playthroughs.

My biggest gripe is they confrimed it’s structure is more like outerworlds than Skyrim. I’m just not a fan of hub areas, they feel artificial

@@itsalwaysdarkestbeforethes1198 i actually prefer hubs. a collection of smaller areas for the player to interact with means the devs can pack in way more detail than a big empty open world.

@@HelicopterRidesForCommunists Yeah honestly because Skyrim falls apart under any scrutiny. The more deeper you look the more things don't make sense & the more idiotic every npc & person in Skyrim looks. To be immersed in Skyrim you need massive amounts of mods or to shut your brain.

What are you talking about? High end PC? They were bought by Microsoft, remember? This will ship on consoles. Will happen what happens all the time since publishers decided they wanted to sell to you, your dog and your grandma with minimum effort: there will be only one version: the console one. What you see in this video is only meant for advertisement, and will be thoroughly downgraded to suit consoles. And your PC version will be a lazy console port with a shitty interface. This has been the case consistently for more than a decade now. I see all the time the same kind of comments on Metacritic. Disappointed comments and people who preorder stuff, believing in lies, getting swindled, but still doing the same sh*t all over again the following year... There are actually people who do trust repeatedly american corporations, to this day. It is so beyond me that i can only imagine brain damage as an explanation for it. Well, either way, 3D 1st person RPGs are not my cup of tea, and i care even less so that they try to force us to embrace a 3rd party spyware DRM i ditched a decade ago (Steam). If they refuse to allow customers to choose, i would say, it may very well become pirating material. Freedom of choice is a basic freedom of consumers. Being denied this basic freedom allows me to deny them their money.
