Award Ceremony and Change of Command at 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Augmentation Command Element 

Three of us received Navy & Marine Corps Commendation medals followed by a change of command.
"I MACE" was a small Marine Corps unit located at the Fort Lewis, Washington. It was a detachment of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force that served to augment the the MEF command element. So, "M" in MACE stands for "MEF", followed by Augmentation Command Element. It's an acronym within an acronym. Clear as mud right?
