Cool, what turbo system? How is the exhaust routed? Once the AWD is sorted, I really want to go turbo.

@@npvg bought the BL fab kit, I think you may need to go with a custom fabbed setup pending how much room you have up front.

The Camaro and the Cadillac ATS / CTS share a lot of stuff and are available with the 2.0 T and 3.6 V6, so I could see all wheel drive V6 or 2.0 Turbo Camaro being relatively easy to get going. Wow let me clarify, at least easier than this all-wheel drive Mustang project, that while I admire the attempt I don't know if it will be able to be completed and even if it gets completed will be robust/sound enough to take and use it as a daily driver for someone who wants to drive it hard, just seems like a bridge too far in my opinion but I hope I'm wrong and this thing ends up being insane

That would be great if you could share some upgrade information. The T-case uses a simple PWM to control the clutch and I plan to use a controller originally meant for a GTR to control it. I will explain it in a future video.

Thanks for the info. I think that is because there is lubricant on both sides of the seal. That will not be the case in my application

I am an AWD junky and I had a 04 330Xi Six speed. I loved that car.

I have received quite a few questions about making a kit. Right now I am focusing on making one work and I will go from there.

I am working on a video of the XR4Ti, it will early next year. I also plan on making a detail covering just the function of the AWD tcase at some point. Stay tuned!

I think the transmissions in those cars is pretty tough. I would maybe try to keep that and just swap the engine. The tricky part is controlling the transfer case. Companies make adapters to put an LS motor in front of the factory tranny and Holley makes a CAN interface module for the Terminator X ECU that will talk to the car. If you can keep the car happy, maybe the stock tcase controller will still work? By the way, I had a 2010 335i Xdrive Msport. I love the car, hated the engine. Or, at least the reliability of the engine. I know this is not popular to say on the internet, but the N54 is not my cup of tea. It seems like the newer B58 has all of the issues fixed. I currently have a 2011 Audi S4 manual and it is the opposite of the E90, I LOVE the engine, but the rest of the car is just OK, reliable (so far) but not as engaging as the BMW, especially the steering. @@npvg Yeah, I'm not looking to set records or put a 1000hp down lol I didn't really hear much about the trans going on the e9x but from what I remember there are a few weak links in the AWD. I think the output flange to rear diff area is a concern and then the front diff isn't that big BUT like I said I'm not wanting to put huge numbers down. Definitely N/A with a mild cam is about how far I want to take it, I just miss driving manual and the AWD pull is something else lol I've watched all of Hangman Performances videos on swapping an LS into an e90, it's very doable for sure, they're even local to me! As far as controlling the tcase I think its just a PWM controlled electric motor that adjusts the split and there are companies that have made a controller of sorts (if I remember correctly) I'm not sure of the logic or if the car adjusts it on the fly but I don't think it would be to much trouble to have it constantly on or be able to switch it off. The tricky part would be keeping the front diff in the same spot, they pulled an RB and have the passenger side front jack shaft (?) going through the oil pan. So ideally a dry sump would be best for the LS cause I'd have to cut up the n54 oil pan to keep the diff placement and jack shaft in place. If all else fails, I'll just go RWD with a t56 and just drive the dang thing again hahaha

The BMW tcases are not a simple PWM. That generation uses a DC motor to drive a mechanical clutch pack. It is my understanding that they calibrate themselves every time the car is started for current VS position and then control the clutch position.

If I was going to make an automatic, that would be a serious contender since it comes with the ford 10 speed and is a right hand drop.

@@npvg after stumbling upon a Fusion V8 build, its reignited my thoughts of doing it to the wife's '13 Explorer Limited. Its almost time to buy her something new. Getting everything mounted isn't the issue, I just need to figure the electronics.

Yes, I am familiar with the TBSS. I am actually currently using the TBSS Torsen T-case in my AWD Turbo V8 Merkur. As far as the Mustang goes, I wanted to play with a variable torque split that the Torsen T-case can't do. The T-case is also substantially physically larger and would be more difficult. I also spent months trying to fit the 7.2 GM IFS from a TB in the car. I finally realized it was a square peg/round hole problem. I will explain in the next video my current solution for the front Diff. Thanks for the great feedback!

I know what you are talking about, it is tough to put 600+ plus HP to the ground with street tires. Hence, why I am doing this project. With the Tcase I am using , I will be able to go from 2wd to fully locked up to anything in-between. I am excited to have that flexibility vs my AWD V8 Merkur, which is always AWD.

I think an automatic car would be easier. I have not done a lot of research, but I am pretty sure the 2020+ explorers use basically the same 10 speed transmission as the 18+ Mustangs. They have a variable torque split right hand drop transfercase. But, that is not what I wanted to do. To be honest, there are quite a few quick automatic AWD cars. I wanted a V8 with a manual transmission. That is one of my main goals, my car has to be a stick. So, that is what I am focusing on.

@@npvg they do use similar gearbox, but it most certainly won’t fit due to Mustang having narrower gearbox tunnel.

What transmission do you plan to use? That will drive what transfer case. But, there are several good options. The viscous coupling style are the simplest to use. The various Borg-Warner units from the Astro Vans or the unit from the AWD V8 Explorers.

Me too:) Once you have AWD traction, it is sort of addicting. My spiritual guide is a R32-34 GTR: -Manual transmission -variable torque split But with a American V8 (long term turbo charged. Thanks for the reply!

You are correct! Like I said, I thought about converting other cars too, Challengers, BMW's, Fox Bodies and I didn't want a sunroof. Got my thoughts a bit confused:) Thanks for the comment.

I think this is a legitimate comment. Why do this? Heck, my daily is a manual 2011 supercharged S4. If my goal was just a 400hp AWD V8 stick, that would be the solution. But, my goal is a 700+hp AWD V8 stick, plus this is fun to me. I get a thrill out of building this stuff.

@@npvg Respect for that. I also like this kind of projects, and I hope to find a good deal for a porsche 991 pre-facelifting (asprated engine) and turn it in a safari version with few mods. Your hard work pays off!
