Wilmington, NC is Awesome! Our First Road Trip since moving to The Villages Florida. We went for our son’s college graduation ceremony (MBA from UNCW) and Mother’s Day weekend. We enjoyed the Wilmington River Walk, Water Taxi to USS North Carolina, the Best Restaurants (local favorites and Guy Fieri Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives including The Copper Penny & The Fork 'N' Cork) The Bridge Tender Wrightsville Beach and went to Carolina Beach for Mother’s Day. I know you guys know this, but for the benefit of others, if you're road tripping a Tesla, you really don't want to charge much past 80% unless you literally can't make it to your next stop without that juice. Running 10-80% is probably the sweet spot for time and charge performance...

Absolutely! Great tip! We very rarely charge past 80%. This road trip was the first time we have used a Supercharger in almost a year. Thanks!

Congrats Nolan. The Tesla charging info costs & kw rates are interesting. What is the kw rate in the villages, how many kw does it take to charge the Tesla from empty, and how many miles can you drive your car on a single charge?

There are NO public chargers that I'm aware of in the Villages. Apps like PlugShare can show you this info. The nearest Supercharger is at the Okahumpka service plaza on the turnpike. I'm guessing Michael and Tiffany just charge it at home; most EV drivers do. Electric rates in Florida are very cheap compared to other parts of the country. A 0-100 charge at $.15/kw is about $10 for 250ish miles of usable range. (It depends on which Tesla you have with which battery.)

Thanks for the charging cost info. Many Wawa stores in Pennsylvania have charging stations. Maybe Wawa will be installing chargers at some of their Florida locations?

Thank you so much! We usually just plug in at home and normally only charge to 70% to 80% level (unless we are doing a long road trip). This was the first time we have had to use a Supercharger in almost a year. We can go about 350 miles if we are at 100% but very rarely charge to this level or go that far without stopping. We like to stop and stretch our legs and take a break from driving every 150 to 250 miles. Will do a separate video just on Tesla charging and tips in the future.

Yes, we normally just charge to 70% - 80% at home with our regular Tesla charger in a normal wall outlet 🔌 in our garage (or destination chargers at hotels, restaurants, etc.) We very rarely use Superchargers unless we are doing long road trips. Thanks!

@@rkoleda The Villages proper doesn't have a lot of convenience stores in the neighborhood shopping centers and almost nothing n the village squares. The busier roads do (44, 466(A)), etc.), but there's still a bit of a dearth of charging infrastructure in/around the Villages. Once outside the "bubble" this changes. I guess the developers would have to plan for this or have received enough questions/comments to move the needle...
