Thanks! Michael & Tiffany M&T ❤️ TVE - The Villages Experience
Thank you both for the details! Really helps… The square footage in the various home types shows a lot of overlap…. Yup, compared to here in California, a lot of the TV prices are soooo low. 😅
Excellent video as always… Thanks for sharing the real cost of living at the Villages. Will be arriving on Thursday for our 7-day Lifestyle visit, hope to see you and your wife.
Particularly as you disused from about 28:00 onward, I have a question and an observation: First, is the estimated cost sheet from The Villages based on ALL existing similar home series costs or just those less than a year (or current)? Secondly, it seems pretty safe to assume given circumstances similar to yours (double occupancy, year round, etc) that one should take the numbers from The Villages and add something like 1/3 to the total. One should def be safe taking The Villages numbers and adding 50% to increase that comfort level margin that one can afford the costs including reasonable future increases. Plus, it would help one allocate for other costs not mentioned such as lawn care, pest control, etc. UPDATE: Nevermind, you already discussed that around minute 32:00 and 33:30, I typed my comment before watching the rest of the video.
Not too far away in Tavares. Water is pricey irrigation and regular total average $310/month. Lawn service $180/month. Electric for 5/4 3400 $325/month Pest control amd lawn fertilizer are also another expenses. Best wishes!! I absolutely love the Fiesta restaurant in your area!
Insurance is going up everywhere and is not controlled by TV. I think TV needs to rethink the combined electric/gas cost 😂. The $90 combined cost is way out of line. I really appreciate your videos, especially this one. We hope to move to TV as early as late next year.
Absolutely! Hopefully we will all get a much needed break on insurance costs at some point. Glad you are enjoying our videos and that they are helpful! Good luck with your move to TV next year! Keep us updated! Thanks!
Good information. Just FYI, when you have been here for one year, you can ask the utility company to change to budget billing. The price is averaged so each month is the same. That way it is easier to budget.
Doing my lifestyle visit in July. Thanks for doing this video. It is very informative information before I decide to buy. Really looking forward to it.
Our irrigation bill in the hot weather is $200 to $300 per month, YIKES, if we don’t get regular rains. We have a lot of grass on an oversized lot. Huge lot for The Villages.
Yikes! Luckily we have had lots of rain the last couple of weeks and more in the forecast for today. Thanks so much for sharing your info. Very helpful for us and others!
Thank you for your videos! We have been watching since you started as we had just started looking at TV. We headed there for a life style visit late June to consider TV next year. But as best laid plans go ours went out the window! So we did a thing and my husband took a big gulp of the kool-aid and now we will be back late July to meet with the designers on our plans for a home in Shady Brook! Excited but I’m a bit panicked - moving to a new place with no friends/family is a huge thing for me so I really appreciate all the info you are sharing. Plus with the change in the timeline there are many things that need to be to be addressed - like I don’t retire until next year and selling our home here! But we are obsessive so will be watching your updates as soon as you release them! Thanks for the tips and the help!
Absolutely! Our pleasure! Congratulations on your new home in Shady Brook! Good luck with the build and move to TV! Keep us updated on your progress. Thanks!
Great video. You might want to consider installing a "smart" irrigation controller like the Rachio 3: 8 Zone Smart Sprinkler Controller. It will connect to the Internet and adjust the amount of sprinkler run time based on local weather/rain.
Thank you so much for this video and all the videos you and Tiffany have made. My husband and I hope to move there in a couple of years and your video gives us an insight of the financial aspect we will need to make an informed decision. So far it looks like it will be cheaper for us to move to TV. Currently we live in League City Texas.
We want to be as informed as possible going into our Lifestyle Visit, and this video gave us a realistic idea of what we might be spending when we move. Especially with us coming down from Charlotte, it was a helpful comparison. Thank you!
Absolutely! There is so much to see and do here at TV besides golf. Plenty of activities for people who are extroverted or introverted, single or married. They have small 1 bedroom houses (new and resale).
It is hard to figure an average for your electric since you have an electric car and golf cart included in that. You have to consider that you don't have any gasoline costs because of this. If someone has a gas car and golf cart, their electric bill average will be less but they have gasoline costs.
Great points! Will try to track the average electricity usage (and cost to charge our electric vehicles) separately to share in a future video. Thanks!
Thanks for your 6 month update. I’ve been trying to figure out what my budget would be. Was looking for a budget to see the cost to just run a house excluding the mortgage. Looking forward to you doing your one year update.
Like the breakdown of monthly expenses. Great info. Just curious, what percentage of residents are full time in TV and is there a difference using a gas stove vs. electric. Love your channel and thanks for all the info you and Tiffany provide.
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful and that you are enjoying our channel. Will do our best to try and figure out what percentage live here year round vs just during the winter. Yes, big difference in cooking on gas vs electric or induction. Took us a little while to adapt to cooking on a a gas stove. We ❤️ it!
Great information. I didn't know about the irrigation not being included. I will definitely be on a budget when I move there so this is good to know. And I look forward to seeing the cost spreadsheet you are working on.
Thanks so much! We mentioned lawn care ($50 per month) and will include more in our Budget Tracker spreadsheet. This video was focused mainly on the things that The Villages lists on their estimated cost sheet vs our actual costs. Hope it helped!
I think it’s crazy that the sewer bill just keeps going up every month. Is there any end in site? We looked at there #’s for a designer home with the new bond of over $50k it is more than we are paying where we are. Thanks for all the information & congratulations on over 8k subs you’ll be over 1 mill views in no time
Excellent job getting real with the numbers. It's good to know where we stand with money when we hopefully move there in a couple of years. I would love to see a quarterly update, too. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful. Will do a quarterly update going forward and an annual update at the end of each year. 👍 Hope you have an awesome weekend!
I cannot believe that when I watched your 1 month living expenses video and highly anticipated this 6 month update that we would be living in the Villages ourselves! It's been less than 1 month for us. Thanks in part to you both, it really helped us make that decision. Anyway, I have a question regarding the dehumidifier - did you get a room model or is it an addition to your A/C unit? We can tell the house is feeling humid, and need to get one. Thanks for your very informative and fun videos alike! 😊😊🌴🌴
That is so awesome! Congratulations on your upcoming 1 month anniversary here at TV! So glad you are enjoying our videos and find them helpful. We bought our dehumidifier from Costco online (link below). Have an awesome weekend! Thanks! www.costco.com/midea-smart-50-pint-dehumidifier-with-built-in-pump.product.4000234426.html
A couple things I wanted to note. I noticed on the new price comparison sheet, the cottage villas and courtyard villas have switched places. They based that order on price and size. My sheet notes that the size is climate controlled square footage where the new sheet not only doesn't say that but the listed sizes clearly include the garage. The tax rates have a note that is based on the average sales price WITH homestead exemption. You can only get that if this is your primary home. We have a pre-owned 1206 sq ft courtyard villa with a 1.5 car garage in Sumter Co. Our trash bill is $22.54. Sumter fire is $125 a year currently. They're talking about more than doubling it but cutting the tax rate to compensate. This is being sold as ending TV subsidizing the rest of the county in fire. We have only had our home for 3 months, and we're part time, so it'll be interesting to see what our costs are over the rest of the year.
Congrats on your Subscribers , Michael and Tiffany !!! It would be nice if you could Link the papers on RU-vid for those to see it. Our HOA fee $110.00 per year !!! Our subdivision it's NOT big like The Villages. I conserve as much as possible , where I don't plug in everything into the socket ( exclude appliances in the house ) Our thermostat says at 74 degrees. I don't use dishwash alot , I'll wash it by hand. I keep the lights off and open up the drapes. If I can save $$$$ , I'll do it .
Thanks so much!! There are a lot of links in the description including the TV estimated costs sheet (towards the bottom). Will be sharing a lot more info and useful links when we launch our New website next week. Stay tuned!
Absolutely! Will be sharing a link to that spreadsheet when we relaunch our monthly Newsletter next week. Will try and do a quick follow up video (to post next week) to show how to use the spreadsheet and include all of those extra expenses not listed on TVs pricing sheet. Thanks!
Thank you for this video. We are closing in Mulch Creek July 9 for us we’re figuring maybe another three or 400 a month probably won’t be that but for us coming from New York it’s still very very affordable.!!😀
Absolutely! Our pleasure! Glad it was helpful. Congratulations on your new home! Welcome to The Villages! Good luck with your move! Have fun on your closing day experience! Keep us posted! Thanks!
