Was that an attempt of condescend to the boat or Eric? Play boat? It's a pleasure boat, not a commercial vessel. It's for fun, it's for entertaining. If you by saying play boat mean all show and no go, you are dead wrong. What you apparently don't get is the concept of different tools for different jobs. Can you cross the Caribbean sea in this? Yes, but if that's what you do, you'd probably choose a boat better suited to that. You can use a Pershing for that and probably get a much better experience. But what if you want to quickly take 20 friends to Bimini for a fun day out, or maybe run Pokerrun, or go to a sandbar etc.? This will do things in that regard larger boats and sailboats can only dream of. ME has built tournament fishing hulls that has proven themselves in 20+ footers. Judging whether or not a boat is a toy by asking if it can make a 300 mile jaunt from Key West to the Caribbean means very little. There are 30 foot boats that will do that. This boat will do that trip in 6-7 hours with few qualms.

You said something about a v10 in the verado lineup, I can’t find them anywhere. Did they not release them?

@@Make-Asylums-Great-Again So far only the V12 600 has come out and idk why Merc hasn't built the V10 500. Maybe they want to see how the 600 fares in big heavy boats who knows. So far the 600 is doing well afaik.

@@dieseldog00 The "lighter" 500 V10 is on standby currently, and only the V12 version is available. Merc have had huge issues getting their lowers to live, even beneath the 450R. That's why only the 400 V10 is out now. A 500R version is not out of the picture, nor is a 550R, but they are having a hard time making it work. From what I'm told, they now have the 450R's sorted and are back on the 500R V10 development. If one wants to run a fast setup on outboards, there are interesting things on the horizon from down under. NizPro Marine will present a 600+ outboard with a 12 month warranty this year, that weighs the same as a 300R. It is based on the Yamaha 4.2 V6 platform. 12 months may not seem like a lot, but remember that 12 months is what you get on a 1350. So very good for a high horsepower lightweight outboard. A Sext of those will make this thing scream. Personally I'd ask Eric to dump the eggbeaters, install a triplet of Merc 1100's behind Arneson 8-6's and Coan 2 speed trannies. Why mess around🙂

"Build quality" And you should go to a show and see an ME up close. It's a good boat and no squeaks or rattles. I have watched this a few times now, I can't find what you're talking about, and I'm listening through my Beyer T1's.

Myself being a HUGE turbine enthusiast, I totally agree with you and if I had the means I would buy the boat and fit a pair of 2750/3000hp Lycoming T55 turbines in it. Did Eric say the boat weighs 30,000lbs?? He didn't say how fast it is with 627s but with 5500/6000hp turbines it should run 100+.

If I was going to use diesels I would go with big HP(say 2400-2600HP) MTU diesels and KaMeWa jets. I would also use an electric harbor drive so that the diesels can be shut down before entering the docks.

I think Eric would be looking at you in weird way if you told him that you want a 45000 lbs power package for his 29000 lb hull lol What about triple Banks 675 hp diesels with Arnies? Not necessarily. Lots of proven offshore hulls out there that has weighted less in the past. A lot of the world beating 40-50 foot hulls we know from racing has been much lighter. Just look at the good ol'e Fountain 47. In powerboating terms one hector of a resin bucket, but light compared to this. Some of these modern hull designs have completely changed how we look at weight versus the ability to stay planted in the rough. It is understandable to think that weight is what determines whether or not the hull will have a tendency to launch and in the past that was very much true, but reality is that balance is the most important factor. Just look at how sedate and flat some of the 10000-12000 lbs race boats are in 6-7 footers happily skipping along at 90+ mph. Some of those resin buckets that are touted to be "offshore killers" like the old AT's, Apache and Cig designs are some bone jarring experiences. Was it not for their colourful history, a lot of those old hulls would long since have been forgotten. Are anybody talking about Pantera these days? Nope. Designs and times are changing, and it is the newer lighter hulls that dominate the racing circuits, especially in Europe and the Arabs where there are still some races that gets properly rough far off the coast.

Not in the cabins or on the deck. It takes up the large storage in the rear which is kinda oversized anyway. The popularity of outboards here is mainly due to ease of maintenance etc. not space. Also you gain a huge swim step with the stern drives. Only issue is that boats with Arnesons are kind of dangerous to swim around. Those props are razor sharp and when swimming near the swim platform or climbing on to it, you can easily nick your leg or foot on a prop - ask me how I know:/ Cleavers suck when you're in the water next to them.

Different styles. I'm not the biggest fan of Mr. Montaner, but it is hard to argue that when he does a walk of the boat, he usually gets the whole boat. That's what's lacking here. A good interview, but way too little show and tell.

Merc V12, Sext 450R's, NizPro Marine outboards, Banks diesels or Merc gas V8's with Arnesons. Not much of a loss, especially considering that those things turned out to be a major fail from a reliability standpoint. Can't help but wonder if Volvo will support the clients who already bought those.

Very different boats. Personally I don't fish, I'd much rather have the speed, styling and flair of the ME. Both are quality proven brands, so it's just a matter of what you need and do with your boat.

I'm sure you could have one built.

If you want to get clever and pedantic pointing out the flaws of others, I suggest that you get it right yourself. Berthing or cabin is the proper maritime term. A stateroom applies to any kind of upscale living quarters, being it in a home, hotel, public building, castle, ship, tour bus, RV, plane or whatever. Statement is not wrong, but it is not a maritime expression. If "we" as in me, and others with a long maritime family history, are talking living quarters on ships or boats, we are talking cabins. Calling it a stateroom does not make you a seasoned maritime connoisseur. That makes you an ordinary person who may or may not own a boat.

Yes some powerboats are easy triple digit boats, but that has nothing to do with this. This is a 60 foot boat that will carry a ton of people, have all kinds of seating and entertainment. Why are you trying to be a condescending twat when you don't even understand why your comparison is absolutely asinine? This is fast for what it is, and can easily be faster with other power options. Is this a 426 with 1750's? No. Try and be a bit more positive and happy about yourself, rather than being an asshat trying tobring others down because they are doing well.
