This is the REAL Motorhead. The other track was a cover.. this is their sound.. fast, raw, and nasty. This is the song that essentially created Thrash. And Lars has said Metallica basically exists because of Lemmy.
@day jee yeah sorry man I gotta call bullshit on that. This lineup was the most consistent, longest lasting, produced some classic songs and Mickey Dee is a fucking beast of a drummer. The original lineup was great but to say it ended there is just "oldschool metal elitism". They had some of their best albums after that lineup.. like 1916, Bastards, and Inferno. Motorhead was Lemmy... as long as he was there.. all was well.
@@DanJackson1977 The original line up was Lemmy, Larry Wallis & Lucas Fox before being replaced with Phil Taylor and they kicked arse as well, just listen to the Motorhead On Parole album !!
@@wedgie42 I'm aware.. I actually like On Parole better than the self titled album doing the same songs. But I think it finally clicked with Eddie Lem and Phil. That said I think the follow up lineups were great too
The Real Motorhead 😂😂😂😂😂. You havin a laugh or what!!!! This is a tribute back up with Lemmy minus any decent lead guitar soloing. The No Sleep Till Hammersmith version is the real GODDAMN MOTORHEAD.. Stay Well tho in these troubled times 👍👍
I would recommend watching the documentary on lemmy, (no need to react as it's quite long) it's on youtube and you'll see what type of person he was, such a good person and a unique person, he never raised ticket prices in like 40 years as he thought everyone should be able to afford to see his band. The guy was a fucking rockstar god too, bottle of Wiskey, speed and 40 cigs a day since he was a teen and lived into his 70s, he was performing wihe dying of cancer, he rocked until he dropped for his fans
Seen them 6 times.... "We are Motorhead and we play rock n roll" Just straight to the fcukin point and I loved him for it. No airs or graces just kick ass rock and roll. I'll fuckin never forget you lemmy
Motorhead is arguably the grandfathers of heavy metal. The cover "Heroes" is a David Bowie (RIP) song that Motorhead covered in tribute to Bowie. You might recognize their, again arguably, most famous song, "Ace of Spades"
RIP Lemmy. That's all I can say. Lemmy is the only "celebrity" or person that I didn't know personally, that I really felt sorrow when he passed away. And you are right about Mickey Dee, I consider him one of the best drummers ever. He has said that being drummer in Motörhead is the hardest job he's ever had. LOL
Motorhead is beyond legendary. I'm sorry you've only heard Ace of Spades, but it's better late than never, man! Lemmy didn't die; he just went home. \m/
Last song at every Motörhead show... God... I miss the ringin' in my ears after every show... \m/ Mikkey Dee is a machine! He always reminded me of The Animal from Sesame Street... you saw just his arms and hair flying around behind the drums. And as Lemmy always announced him... The Best Drummer In The World: MIKKEY DEE!
That's why I like reaction videos - it reminds me of what it felt like to listen to the music when it was new to me. Thank you for reviewing the greatest rock and roll band of all time. As for future reactions, check out the live video for "In the Name of Tragedy" - it's outrageous in the best way.
punk from the seventies and early 80s were my stuff i also listened to a group called Motorhead wich there sound made alot of punk music sound pretty tame i saw them 9 times and that lives with me to this day they are in my car on my phone never a week goes by without motorhead my favourite band by a mile Lemmy the legend didnt play at rock n roll he went full tilt big respect to Lemmy and the boys awesome.
This is the ultimate encore song. Gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it. I had the honor of seeing Overkill only once but it was still one of the best shows I have ever seen.
How it was for me live as a teenager? So loud you'd find it hard you identify each song. It was just pure sensation and the crowd just was a euphoric crush of bodies. Ears still ringing 3 days later!
I've seen Motörhead many times and these bass drums hit you in the chest and throw you back against the wall. That feedback at the end keep ringing in your ears after the show, when you get home, when you get to bed and when you wake up in the morning. How three people can make that much noise is astounding. Your whole body knew you had been to a Motörhead concert: bruised knees, aching neck, ringing ears...
One time (of many) I saw Motorhead, the club opened almost 4 hours late, due to problems with the sound system. When we finally got in the club rushed the 2 opening bands on and off the stage (some local band and Belladonna) Motorhead played a 90 minute set, then Lemmy announced: "We're gonna take a short break here, and then we're gonna come back and thank you for waiting around in the fucking cold !!" (it was snowing that night) They took a twenty minute "working" break, during which they met fans and signed merchandise. Then they got back on stage and played ANOTHER 90 minute set. Now THAT'S real class. They fulfilled their contact at the end of their first set, they didn't have to do ANYTHING. But the fans were ALWAYS number one in Lemmy's eyes. Actions like this one are part of the reason why he's such a legend. Sincerely, MHB # 1204
Live from Munich was a great show/video saw it on AXES TV I think..all great think it was done about a year before Lemay bailed..think the title was "BOMBER"
I was 2008 in this concert hall. We sit in the last row. It was loud, hard and bloody great. RIP Lemmy. They filmed the show in Düsseldorf, Germany. ☝🏻😍🥂
I saw Motörhead in 2012. The concert was awesome. I could not get to sleep after coming home. I had so much energy. That is what Motörhead does to you seeing them live
This became the final song that Motorhead played every night since like....1979!!! But I agree...this is the best version of it! Mickey Dee is a beast on those drums after playing ALL night he's still slamming away. And Phil and Lemmy are just thrashing it. I listen to this version almost daily!!! Long live MOTORHEAD!! We are Motorhead, and we play rock and roll!
Had the pleasure of seeing Motörhead in 1989 in Rastatt, West Germany in a bar. Blown away - Been a fan since mid-80s and still spin them to get a little motivation juice flowing.
My first concert in 1982 left me still deaf but going every tour and festival they played damaged my Teeth also i still got the sound of. My first concert screaming out both my ears remember lemmy play his music loud
seen them 6 or 7 times over the years (since 1982) and they'd come on stage with no fuss, opened with the phrase "we are motorhead and we play rock and roll" and then no gimmicks, head down rock for the entire gig... the last song of the encore would usually be "overkill" played with permanent strobe lighting and finish by propping up his bass to the stack and turning up the amps, leaving the stage to feedback. I miss those days. There'll never be another Motorhead
I'v been to 7 or 8 motorhead concerts. Every time they came to Brasil I'd be there for shure.they never desapointed. They were always perfect. Heavy, fast, very very loud. The only advide a can say, always try to listen or watch them live. Them have records from the 80's when mixing was very different. But live, they were brutal.
T, thanks for the video, and your comments, Lemmy was a great person and musician, may he R.I.P He was actually roadie for Jimi Hendrix in the U.K. back in the day, Lemmy and Jimi are playin music together now, cousin figel
Lemmy RIP was lucky to see them in the 80's. Met Lemmy what a gent. You had to be there to really fill the energy. One of the greatest live bands that ever hit the stage. Lem should have got a knighthood
Just listen to the lyrics in Motorheads songs, Lemmy was a genious. He was, is and will always be a Legend. One of my favourites are "Back at the Funny Farm", great lyrics! If you like the drummer (Mikkey Dee) listen to the song "See me burning"
Infectious... It'S THE song that started THRASH METAL.... NO DOUBT. LEMMY IS THE GODFATHER OF METAL. Even though ever set was started with... "We Are Motorhead, We Play Rock&Roll"
A really great Motorhead track - thanks. And especially thanks because until I found your channel I was beginning to think no-one else on RU-vid liked Motorhead! Looking for more tracks ? Try "Too good to be true", "Orgasmatron" or "God was never on your side".
I seen them in La'more East Queens. They are the loudest band. I couldn't hear for three freakin days man. Ace of spades was their major hit but that megartron tour was insain. 1989
“We are Motörhead, and we play rock and roll!” - Lemmy 🤘 I’m not sure where to start on recommendations for songs. How about Bomber, Stay Clean, Stone Dead Forever, Ace of Spades, Motörhead, Live to win, Death or Glory, We are Motörhead.... just to name a very small few...
Joyous! How can three people make so much noise! 1st Rock band i ever saw live..deaf for days.. heavenly.. other tracks?.. The Hammer, Bomber, Go to Hell....
I fortunately got to see Motörhead live. I can't remember what year it was but I bet it was in 2006. They had a bomber hovering over the stage and it was epic. May Lemmy rest in peace
Motorhead songs you might wanna check out, just to get your feet wet, umm, check out, Going to Brazil 🇧🇷, Hellraiser, R.A.M.O.N.E.S., Stone Dead Forever, and one by Lemmy called "Don't Matter to Me" (which the recording is messed up at the end, but 3/4 of it is REALLY good!!!). That's a good, tip your toe in the Motorhead pool Starter kit. (at least I think, but what do I know, right?). Anyways, enjoy, and you really CANT go wrong when enjoying them. And I love the way you IMMEDIATELY gave Mickey Dee (the drummer) a shout, and recognized how great he is!!!
You could try listening to the live Overkill on their album No Sleep Til Hammersmith original line up. Recorded at Newcastle City Hall in 1980 I was at that concert. The drumming is and was phenomenal.
Saw them more than 20 Times from 1980 until the end; all the different line ups too, from the original three until the last line up. Never had a bad gig....
I made a mistake in picking that Bowie cover at the first Motorhead request... it's a great cover and it was the last song they put out as a band but it wasn't a good intro.. this is what I should have picked. Also it was a new-ish video so the RU-vid copyright hounds were on it. But I'll definitely be requesting more or these guys... they're in the Mt. Rushmore / Mt. Olympus of metal.
@Lauren BIG MAMA Doughty Heavy metal is just the blues played lound and fast. Aka Motorhead. Lemmy said they play rock and roll.. hes not wrong.. but what they played became known as heavy metal.
"Heroes" is a David Bowie cover, not an example of what Motorhead is at all. Power and speed, driven by Lemmy's bass. FIRST-"Ace of Spades". Then "Iron Fist"-Which is the song that got me into Motorhead 32 years ago. Then I saw "Ace of Spades" on "The Young Ones" on MTV,and that was it. BTW-ANTHRAX,Too...Scott Ian himself said "Overkill" started it for him.
This song is just straight up relentless because of that double kick drum. It persists throughout 95% of the song. The speed in which they're playing in this live performance makes it that much better. Good shit.
