Great video! I understand that fine throttle control is extremely important to a successful drift, in addition to precise steering and counter steering. Could you also show the throttle bar in your videos, maybe on your Sim Dashboard?

Bro! To do that with the G29 is RIDICULOUS! I keep having to go to the stupid controller to do drifting and that makes me SOOOOO MAD!!!! Excellent! I have to figure it out!🤷🏽‍♂️

Thanks a lot for your support bro! 🤟🏻🤟🏻 You need to keep practicing! It takes time at first, but once you get used to it, it becomes part of your habits. You need to also have the right ffb settings. Check out this guide that i made on how to set them up: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oEe5ZchqbMg.html I'm also working on some drift tutorials.

Hi, I noticed your Force Feedback Sensitivity is only "1". I'm not good in drifting, but from my experiments with this setting for racing, I realize higher values help make the wheel more responsive. I'm not sure if you tried higher values and found it useful. If you switch to the in-car view, turn your steering wheel, and observe the response of the steering wheel as shown on screen. There should be a slight lag at sensitivity "1" as compared to "6", which I am using now.
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips 2 года назад
Yes i have done some extensive experimentation with all ffb settings. Increasing the force feedback sensitivity doesn't make it any more responsive nor does it remove any lag in the input. The lag only comes from how much latency you have in your screen. Increasing the ffb sensitivity only adds strength to the virtual steering column friction, i.e. it only creates more damping hiding away some useful feedback details. I've read some descriptions all over the internet for these settings and most people described them as you did. But I found these interpretations to be wrong. I think it doesn't even behave as PD intends it to be. The name doesn't suggest what it does. I also noticed that to have a 1:1 relationship between what the front wheels do in the physics compared to your steering wheel inputs, you should have "controller sensitivity" at 0. And yes it does make a difference and it's very obvious while drifting. If you change that value up, you will experience amplification to your inputs (which doesn't appear visually) but the behavior of the front tires will just become and look weird. I found the only settings that make the car behave realistically are: controller sensitivity: 0 Force feedback sensitivity: 1 Max torque should be changed depending on which physical wheel you're using, putting the lowest possible value that still gives enough realistic strength while avoiding clipping and loss of info.

Swap the GAC Maverick’s 1200hp Windsor motor into that cayman and then make another vid like this pleasepleaseplease 🙏 I wanna see if someone can control that thing (drifting) and make it look smooth too and I believe in you 😆

Perfect!!! Besides the settings you should at the end, is there something I should do settings wise to make the steering lighter /easier to handle on countersteer? I get a massive kickback when trying to straighten it. Im using a fanatec ddpro (8nm). Thanks a lot
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips 2 года назад
Thanks a lot buddy!! Well not really, but if you're using my settings from the end of the video i think you should adjust the max torque to suit your wheel. Not sure which torque value you should use for the DD PRO, but the idea is to use the minimum value that still gives you some realistic force strength. Also gotta say that most of the work should be done through the pedals and not the wheel. In an ideal situation, same as in real life, i would only catch and let go of the wheel most of the time and let the suspension geometry do the work for me, while my main inputs are at the pedals. That DD PRO should be fast enough to help with that, lucky you lol 😋. Couldn't get my hands on one of these but i'm getting a TGT II soon with some TLCM pedals. I'm also working on a drifting tutorial series to cover everything from scratch, so stay tuned by subscribing if you like to 🤟🏻

@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips 2 года назад
Thanks a lot again man! And i didn't mean you lack skills lol 😅. Just practice makes perfect bro so keep practicing. You gotta learn to overcome the lack of G Force on your body (which is the main feedback in real life) and get used to the wheel's behavior to the point where it becomes always predictable to you. And thank you, hope one day I'll visit Zurich! Good luck mate 🤟🏻

Thanks for your advice, I have improved my still not able to drift properly with my G29 steering wheel. Currently I'm having this problem, and I'm not sure why. I am able to initiate the drift and "catch" it with counter steer. Then in a split second, the counter steer becomes too much, and the car turns to the counter steer direction. For example, the track curves right. So I turn right, and then floor the throttle to lose rear traction, and at the same time, allow the wheel to automatically counter steer to the left. I hold the wheel to keep the drift going, but suddenly, the car veers left and exits the track. Seems like I counter steer too much? Or I should have reduce counter steer earlier? Or my throttle was too low?
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips 2 года назад
Yea it could be one of two: you're either not going back enough on the throttle to continue the drift, or you're not helping the drift by reducing the countersteer. It should be a combination of both mid-drift, you go harder on throttle while allowing the wheel to countersteer then reduce the throttle while also reducing the countersteer, and you repeat while trying to smooth things out.

So it's clear from your video that this car can be drifted well without the steering adapter and the handbrake upgrades. Do you think these two upgrades make a significant difference to drifting?
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips 2 года назад
Yes i do think these updates make some significant difference to drifting, but i do also think any RWD or AWD car can be drifted with default setup same as in real life. It only requires adding parts and tuning to make more extreme drifts. I have videos of both extreme drift builds and drifting default setups, and will continue to make both as each is fun in its own unique way.
@fyresg

@@SimActionClips do you mean to a beginner, he won't need to buy the steering adapter and handbrake upgrades?
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips 2 года назад
Well i actually prefer for a beginner to start learning without them and get used to the basics of drifting in a good stock RWD sports car. Something like the BMW E46 M3, which i'm actually using to create a drifting tutorial for beginners.

@jar3388
@jar3388 2 года назад
@@SimActionClips the new fanatec set. i did a lot of research and found out my gas pedal was way too sensitive which was causing me to spin all the time. then found my steering wheel was not sensitive enough causeing me to not be able to counter steer quick enough and now i have been able to catch some drifts. will try again soon but it was def my settings
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips 2 года назад
Awesome news buddy! 👌🏻👌🏻 Is that the DD Pro? Love that wheel but couldn't get my hands on one. Tried the TGT II though it's phenomenal, and i'm getting one soon with the TLCM pedals. And yeah those setttings are crucial for control. With the wrong settings you can't control anything since the feedback will fool you.
