Sounds like these busses get into more scrapes and accidents than farm machinery would! Definitely some very interesting information you’ve put in here Terry, and remember everyone: Nothing stops a 62 Bus
We have about 1,000 buses a day on the road throughout the city. Things are bound to happen, but the greater majority of trips run as scheduled. There is an occasional hiccup, but most people are never aware of it.
The worst one I remember was in the early to mid 90s when an articulated bus tried to turn around inside the Ern Halliday recreation camp in Hillarys. The hot exhaust set the grass alight which spread to the surrounding bush and also destroyed the bus.
The buses I took most often in my life - 328, 106, 33. I still miss those old Renault turbos that could actually keep up with traffic on the route UP Greenmount hill...
I used to be " On the Buses " , a lifetime ago now ,in Sydney . Buses GO well , STOP well and handle surprisingly well , considering what they are Buses , however , are most definitely NOT any type of Offroad Vehicle . Except #62 , of course . 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. The Cats were cute . Also terrified I imagine .
I HAVE SEEN A FEW BUSES MEET WITH DISASTER A FEW TIMES. BUS 730 HAD A HEAD ON WITH A DATSUN AT A LEVEL CROSSING. BUS 670 HAD A ENGINE BAY FIRE DOING A 15 TANGO. AND A COUPLE OF RENAULT ARTICS JACKKNIFING. YES, NEVER A DULL MOMENT IN THE BUS WORLD. LOL
I don't understand why the bendy bus tried to turn around in a sandy patch instead of reversing out. And what was the other bus driver thinking when he tried to do a u turn over a sandy medium strip?
Under the transperth rules, drivers weren't allowed to reverse unless guided by another bus driver,or supervisor.but you make a good point,a competent driver could reverse a bendy, just like a semi with a long prime mover,a brick truck and dog comes to mind. You NEVER drive a bus off hardstand, sand loves busses.
Some can colour in between the lines, and others just can't do it. Sometimes, I think it needs to be on driving tests, why are bus drivers always the first to break the road rules and think they are more important, in my area they do 😂 Great video
