From 2004 to 2006 I reached the pinnacle of my bus driving career, operating Perth's Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses which were on trial for 3 years. I reluctantly left the programme after 2 years to take up a position as Driving Instructor. As seen in this video, the very peak of my mountain was achieved when I drove HRH Prince Charles (now King Charles) and his entourage from the Subiaco Train Station to the Sustainable Energy House. Purple Planet Music has once again supplied the music for the sound track. https:/www.purple-planet.com. HD video Technology was in its infancy at the time, the on-board cameras on the bus recording in colour, but at 10fps, so it looks a bit jerky. Cheers, Terry.

Wow, what great video you put up. Its a shame they didn't keep the hydrogen busses going. I reckon with time they would be far greener than anything out there.

New Zealand recently manufactured a hydrogen bus and I wish they'd latched onto the benefits of hydrogen in contrast to battery celled buses environmentally in terms of longevity and manufacturing impacts. Very interesting knowing Australia & London ran hydrogen cells before electric whereas NZ was a polar opposite.

Great video Terry Todays Questions Q1 Did you drive the Volvo B8RLE 2610, 2617-2635, 2665-2677 and Volvo B7RLE 2139-2145 on the Perth cats at all or not Q2 Will you be going to Ashley Day this Sunday and if you are will you be Filming at all or not and can you do a trip on Betty Thompson and Planet 7 aswell as Rosalie and Wyndham Q3 When Will Ng123 be coming back to service

I drove the first generation of Volvos and the Cats. I liked them from a driver's viewpoint. I cannot remember the fleet numbers. Unfortunately I have other commitments on Sunday, and the latest word on 123 is hopefully the next steam season we will see her again.

Thanks. I'm putting the finishing touches to a short video dedicated to 3001. We picked it up from the Dealer in Redcliffe, brought it brand new to the Depot, where I wrote the Driver's Induction Manual for it. There are pictures of it new including the interior and dashboard. It will be posted in a week or so.

@@terrymercer2379 I know 3000 (CNG Scania)was at malaga to for a short while and 3002 (CnG iveco) is now at malaga at the "pits"

Disassembled. Technical parts sent back to Mercedes. Transmissions kept as spares for OC500LE's, bodies scrapped except ECO2 which is with BPSWA

Agreed. In my lunch breaks I went out and practiced deploying the ramp till I had it out and back in, in just a little longer time than the electric ramps on the other bus models (Except for the bus, Eco 1, think, that one of our drivers damaged on a kerb; that was a bit fiddly. I found it best not to lower the bus when using the ramp onto a kerb. Lowering the bus only worked for roadside pick ups. My favorite passenger was a fellow in a chair who caught the No 20 bus to ECU, who was most appreciative that I could get him on so quickly.

It could have been "Wobbles" He got married during the trail, and the Management team supplied Ecobuses for his wedding vehicles, which I thought was wonderful.
